Eh, it's alright... I guess.
Personally, I was disappointed and expected more; I'm glad I bought it for cheap at a local library's annual book sale.
Daniken certainly has some intriguing theories, but to me his writing comes across as pompous and dry.. . Its a short read and somehow its very repetitive. He just keeps regurgitating the same lines/things over and over:
-"Why isn't this plausible?"
-"Why isn't this possible?"
-"Open your mind"
-"Give this a chance."
etc. etc. etc. Ad Nauseum

(about the English language) It's kinda like a raft that was cobbled together from parts of three different boats and since then has been kept barely afloat with crude repairs every time a leak appeared.
i've been watching ancient aliens now,but im on the go from work i think i'll cop the book,
so do people believe the things he says
The first episodes (season) of Ancient Aliens captured the book's theories well and were interesting, but for awhile now they show has gone completely off the deep end and are trying to milk the topic for all its worth (as usual). I vaguely recall catching a bit of an episode over the summer where they tried to link Bigfoot to (ancient) aliens. Yeah.
I can't say I truly believe in the theory, but as you've probably gathered I find the topic interesting and, if properly presented by someone who isn't a whack-a-doodle, is food for thought.

The actual book is, as qtiplord said, stylistically difficult to get through.
candidus inperti; si nil, his utere mecum.
Ambition must be made to counteract ambition.
Individualities may form communities, but it is institutions alone that can create a nation.
Nothing succeeds like the appearance of success.
Here is my principle: Taxes shall be levied according to ability to pay. That is the only American principle.
