Space and time have this awesome interplay throughout. Also physical structures but that's largely just an extension of space.
Man.
Love the patented commercialism and imagery of being a bee. Like the, "buy into this system" approach he has to the bee material speaks volumes to the work, all while being tongue-in-cheek.
The woman with the prosthetic limb is also brilliant -- making his commentary on structures and humans very apparent.
SELVAXRI! King of Misfortune & Master of Rocket Launchers "Do ya feel lucky? Because you'd better start runnin' while you still can." 375 Misfortune {+3 signed AP's} & 104 Rocket Launcher (41 AQ/ 63 Rev) Edgar Rice Burroughs, forgotten legend of the word.
I'm working my way through Wild Cards. My uncle speaks highly of it and I'm trying, but I admit it's a struggle. I can't seem to engage with it. I recently finished Snow Crash. I'm not sure what to think of it. I'll have to reread it.

my LGS had a box of random MTG books from way back when they still produced paper novels for each set in a block, that apparently were so old that when the store owner's son started running most of the store, he didn't even know the box was there.
I ended up getting the second and third books in each of the original Mirrodin block and the Kamigawa block. Once I get the first book in each series, I'm gonna read through the books.
I'm glad I was able to find the books. I started during the Original Mirrodin and Kamigawa was my first new world.
Book one starts with humanity just inventing FTL travel and immeadiatly making first contact with a number of races one of which proves to be really hostile, think Tyranids from WH40K or the bugs from Starship troopers and you won't go far wrong.
I'm already upto book 4 in just under a week of reading. Only real complaints is that due to the scenario there is a lot of combat and action. Whilst it is well written combat and action it would have been nice if there was time to flesh out the characters and their relationships a lot more. Particularly between a Medical Doctor and a Linguist which was shaping up to be similar to the one between Bones and Spock but unfortunately it kinda peters out before it really gets going.

Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag and start slitting throats.

I Became insane with long Intervals of horrible Sanity
All Religion, my friend is simply evolved out of fraud, fear, greed, imagination and poetry.

Just finished Ken Liu's Grace of Kings - love it. If you're into a Game-of-Thrones style fantasy with an Chinese influenced world, I'd recommend it. Again like GoT, don't get attached to one character.
Started some others on my backlog, mainly in the Covert One thriller series - the Lazurus Vendetta and in the scifi Culture series Use of Weapons.
Interview with the Vampire, by Anne Rice. I've seen the movie a few times, but never read the book until now. About 2/3rds of the way through. Finding in completely intoxicating! May need to get a few more of her books if they are written as well!
The book of disquietude by the Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa. It's a melancholical recolection of thoughts, images and ideas of the existencial unrest of a failed life.
I'm working on a very interesting, though super depressing, book on inter WWI & WWII conflicts and pogroms in central and eastern Europe, The Vanquished. First read about it on one of my lefty blogs here.

Only just seen this.
The follow up books are very different to the film. The film Vampire Lestat takes events of 2 different books, Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned and mashes them together badly.
The books are able to give a lot more time to Lestat and then provide some set up for the stories of the Vampires that follow, either continuing the modern story or as with Interview and Vampire Lestat giving you the specific vampires history.
Currently reading: re-reading the Castle Federation, Starship Mage and Odessey One Series. Also Against All Enemies again.

If you land up enjoying Pessoa, I recommend checking out the misanthropic aphorisms of Emil Cioran. Also, pretty much any author published by the defunct Exact Change press.
Pretty much what it sounds like, one mans account of how America has managed and mismanaged the War on Terror.

Just finished re-reading The Long Walk by Stephen King, one of my favorites. Some of the passages get me every time though, very haunting.

Working on S. by Updike as well as My Favorite Thing is Monsters by Ferris
Ferris's tome is dense but brilliant
There's a lot of visual references that expects you to be trained. If you don't know them, no big deal, it's still a fun read.
My favorite has to be the Witching Hour though.
