I've been bumping the song almost nonstop since it dropped, it's definitely pretty sick. Particularly adventurous for both rappers, though I suppose their entrance into the Jazzsphere was inevitable, since they're already pretty interwoven with the culture. Glad to see Earl finally coming out of his horrorcore shell so we can get some genuine rap out of him.
Their new albums are slated for the coming months, right? Or Tyler's, anyway.
Ya Earl is usually on that "shock factor" horrorcore kinda stuff, also glad to see him come off it a bit. And I think if I remember right, at some point I heard OF, Tyler in particular being a big fan of FlyLo; awesome seeing them make a connect.
Tylers WOLF is supposed to come out some time this year, don't know anything about any other OF related releases though. haha
JJ DOOM out soon! Sorta...
Haven't been this excited about an album since Skelethon and Apollo Kids (ugh..).
Don't think I've ever heard JJ, but who can't be excited about new DOOM ish?
I'm definitely excited. They released a single not too long ago and I wasn't totally impressed with it. Hoping the final product is better. Love DOOM.
WOLF comes out in either October or November. Oh yeah, and pretty much the entire internet knows Tyler = Capt. Murphy. I mean, it's an Adult Swim single and they have their show on there, it just makes sense. From what I read somewhere, this gimmick of Tyler's is inspired by Madvillainy... DOOM's collab with Madlib. Sick. He released a song yesterday called Ritual.
I fully believe Murphy will be our generation's DOOM, if whoever it is (...Tyler) keeps it up.
About Frox: for nearly 10 years, Frox has been helping women look good and feel great in easy-fit, mix-and-match, and work-to-weekend with just a few pieces by helping them make the right choices when it comes to clothing and accessories.

There are three Capt. Murphy singles (counting Between Friends), and I dunno if I would call him the next MF Doom. Shaping up to be a concept album about a cult leader, if I'm hearing right.

I can keep dreaming he'll be an MF DOOM, can't I? I'd at least like to see a new faceless rapper with old school instrumentals.
I did more research and it seems like it's a collab between Flying Lotus and Zeroh. They're both kind of in the same scene and that's what the word is right now. As for DOOM or Adult Swim or OFWG's involvement, we may never know.

Hell, if he pulls off being OF Doom, I'm all about it.
Hey good looking out Frox. I didn't know about any other Captain Murphy songs, they're sick. I like it, whoever they are.
I really like it. If they keep going it's going to be really special. I'll be on the lookout for more Capt. Murphy news. I'm sure we'll hear something more. Maybe we'll hear more from his twitter.

Anyway, I didn't really dig Childish Gambino's newest album. It was alright, but nothing special. Tina Fey was hilarious. Danny Brown kills it on his track. Over 9000 guest spots.
Right now I'm listening to:
Blu's NoYork! album from last year. Highly recommend, has some ridiculously sick beats(Samiyam, Madlib, FlyLo, ect) and some semi-deep lyrics.
XV's Popular Culture mixtape. Some pretty awesome pop culture references mixed decent overall word play. Not the deepest lyrics, but some damn good beats.
TNGHT's ep is really good if you like instrumental.
Action Bronson's Blue Chipsmixtape is really amazing. Word play is top notch. Beats are on the classic side.
Big Baby Gandhi's No1 2 look up 2. Do you like Das Racist? **** Yeah? Give this a spin.
Domo Genesis x The Alchemist is pretty good and is along the same lines as Hodgy Beats last EP, where it's worth a try even if you aren't a fan of Odd Future. There's definently some OF guest spots, but Freddie Gibbs and Action bronson make appearances, and Alchemist is top notch per usual.
Joey bada$$' 1999 EP. Best new rapper not named Kendrick Lamar. Survival Tactics is an instant classic in my opinion.
K. Flay's Eyes Shut EP. Best female rapper bar none. self produced.
Still listening to Spiritual State by Nujabes, it's just a beautiful album.
Looks like there's a lot of good stuff in there, ima definitely check out what I can.
Action Bronson is pretty good. Alchemist is good, saw that he's producing that album for Domo, definitely worth a listen.
Haven't heard of Blu I don't think, but with producers like that, definitely going to try.
Nujabes has a new album?? Ugh, I have a terrible time keeping up with artists... Just dunno how, have to literally stumble on anything new from them or hear it from fine folks like yourself, who knows how late. haha

I miss the Alt Hip-Hop thread too. Might make a new one, definitely around "Album of the Year," time. It's tough to find recommendations without you crazy bastards on hand.
Did K. Flay release a new EP? I'll have to find it. Other than that, I haven't checked out most of the albums you mention- I'll give em a go this weekend. I'm surprised I didn't know about Blu's release, I've been following pretty close lately.

I've probably listened to his three songs 15 times a piece in the past few days.
I just found a really interesting thing about Mighty Morphin ******** (am I allowed to say that? Censored it anyway): the beat's ripped and lowered a few octaves.
Who cares though. Just figured it was some stupid piece of info worth sharing.

I've been high on Stoner Hip-Hop lately (hah), namely Curren$y.
His newest album, though, isn't really worth check out.
Weekend At Burnie's, Pilot Talk I&II are, though.
All three of those are pretty amazing;
My favorite track by him is probably 'Roasted'
(He also has a track prod. The Alchemist 'Ventilation' that's really good)
I really enjoy anything produced by Dan the Automater,
Particularly Deltron 3030 (patiently awaiting the sequel...)
And Doctor Octagon's album Doctor Octagonecologyst.
Also MF Doom and Danger Mouse's colab 'Danger Doom' was amazing.
Glad to see MF Doom mentioned so many times in this thread.
ASAP Rocky's newer track 'Goldie' is pretty sweet, too.
And Brand New Guy is probably my favorite from his LiveLoveA$AP mixtape
Earl and Tyler are this generation's NAS. Honestly.
The way they rap and what they rap about is incredibly reminiscent of NAS. (imo)
@ Frox, Zelderex; Been listening to the Captain Murphy **** a lot lately myself. I'm pretty excited for future releases. The production is solid as hell and whoever is rapping is doing a good job as well.
About the beat for Mighty Morphin; maybe a little disappointed, but it's a free song, so I got no issues. 'Up and comers' (still dunno who it is; if even anyone in the game right now) rap over straight ripped beats a lot, and unless they're selling it, it never bothers me any. Especially if they're as sick as Mighty Morphin. haha
Been listening to the Domo x Alchemist tape a lot today too, it's good stuff.
And the Flatbush Zombies tape, that's been on all day as well.
Also, I'm all for discussing alt hiphop here as well if it's not a big deal. I like em both. haha But if you make a thread, Zelderex, I'll be there.

Blu's release was released for free sometime last year because Warner wouldn't sign off on it(U-God has a hook in the opener, Some of the songs are just not mainstream friendly, warner sucks). Blu & Exile released Give Me My Flowers While I Can Still Smell Them after NoYork! dropped. NoYork! is probably the most criminally slept on album that came out last year - probably was the best hip hop album that came out last year. It at least gives XXX, Section 80 and Black Up a run, beats out Return to 4eva and is world's better than Relax and Watch The Throne.
Eyes Shut is K.Flay's newest. So not sure if that is newer than whatever you heard last. Pretty sure it's free. Edit: It's pay what you want, so virtually free with the price of being called a dick

I agree with all of this. Curren$y is slept on, and it's stupid. His **** should be insanely popular but it's not for whatever reason.
ASAP is just a slightly more polished Lil B that doesn't release any stupid tracks like Wonton Soup. Still dig both Rocky and Lil B though. Add God's Father Mixtape to the stuff i'm currently listening to. Easily Lil B's most polished and consistent tape. No stupid ****, overall positive messeges, really uplifting to be honest, and some good beats courtesy of our buddy Clams. TYBG

No..just...no.

Capt. Murphy is obv Tyler.
Thanks for clearing that up. Yeah, I've heard the Eyes Shut EP (forgot the name, it's a little old). It's her best yet, I still don't think it's as good as it could be though.
Oookay, that's how I missed Blu's album. I caught Blu & Exile, must've overshadowed his solo.
Other than that:
ASAP is much better than Lil B. Lil B consistently earns "Worst rapper dead or alive," awards. I'm gonna go ahead and let that slide.
Honestly, I think Earl and Tyler compare favorably to Nas. Illmatic was absolutely amazing, and Good Life is very good (possible Album of the Year material), but there was a decade in between. Tyler managed to crank out two albums that come close in the span of a year.
Been following these guys since they dropped a video for Thug Waffle; I love them.
I'm willing to share. Free mixtape (week old) at the top. http://www.flatbushzombies.com/
Check out the videos for SCOSA and Thug Waffle, they're nicely produced vids.

Lil B gets those awards for **** like Wonton Soup and his dumb ****. That's like grading Snoop on his ESPN freestyles and his True Blood song. Lil B has some legitmately good music, and let's face it ASAP ripped the **** off of Lil B. Calling himself pretty, taking clams, swag, same kinda stream of conscious stuff. Yes ASAP is better, much better, but ASAP is definitely riding Based God's style.
And again, No. Absolutely not on the comparisons of Tyler/Earl and Nas. It's not even worth going into. Anyone that thinks this is just delusional.

Dude, it took Nas a decade to release a second album that was anywhere near "Good." Illmatic was great, but Nas as an artist? Not so much. And besides that, the comparison of, "Young rappers who come out of ****ing nowhere to make amazing music," is pretty accurate.
But you're calling Earl and Tyler amazing. And you're also saying that Nas came out of nowhere. This is where your comparison just doesn't hold weight. Nas was pretty well known in the industry before Illmatic: He was friend's with Kool G Rap and Rakim, MC Serch was his manager, and he was being heralded as the next Rakim. Seriously before you even get to the subjective part, the comparison doesn't make sense. Their backgrounds are nothing alike, their content is nothing alike, their style is nothing alike.
Also, Has anyone listen to Azealia Banks' album Fantasea? I wasn't able to get into it on my first play through(only got through the first 3 or so tracks before i changed it) and was wondering if anyone thought it would be worth my time.
