Kind of surprised there wasn't a thread for this, did anyone else see it? I really liked it quite a bit, but haven't seen a ton of discussion. He's one of the few superheroes I know decently well so there were some inconsistencies that bugged me, but generally I accepted them because of the nature of a Marvel superhero movie. What about anyone else, any thoughts?
I liked it. Nothing really inventive in the plot department, but neither was there really anything wrong in its execution. And the real reason you go to this movie is for the visuals. It's simply stunning.
I respect Benedict Cumberbatch as an actor, but I sometimes get annoyed by his insufferable genius characters. So it was quite enjoyable to watch a movie where he has to learn humility, and ends up getting repeatedly killed in brutal and creative ways.

The visuals were solid. The plot was generic, and felt like the set-up for a series. While the movie was quite enjoyable, I wish this was a TV series rather than a film.
That's generally my thought on it too. It's a shame but I don't think the interest is strong enough for the average person. And even if they could afford the special effects I think people would get burnt out by the more mind bending/shifting aspect of it all.
The movie was a generic superhero origin story, not much to say other than cool trippy visuals that i'l be sure to visit Colorado or California and watch with some special popcorn. I'm more interested in how he fits in with the rest of the MCU, which i'm 99% sure is why this movie was made in the first place. Specifically, Thor 3 is looking to be Captain America Civil War: The other guys, aka Avengers 1.25

To say nothing of the money question. You could not do him justice on an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. budget.
