Disney has churned out another great movie here. I've seen it twice already and I've been blown away both times. The conclusion is a bit predictable, but the story is overall engaging, the characters are hilarious (Nick and Judy's chemistry is a lot of fun in particular), and the visuals are STUNNING. I honestly would argue it's worth the price of admission just to watch the Zootopia introduction panning montage!
Anyone else seen it? What are your thoughts?

"Proving god exists isn't hard. Proving god is God is the tricky part" - Roommate
I really enjoyed it, and was really impressed at the maturity for a Disney movie. And not just the whole scene with the animals without clothes, although that was a level of, "Holy crap, I can't believe they put that in a Disney film," I've not felt since Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
Lot of mature themes and subject matter played with in this movie. I could go on for pages and pages about how this movie is a more insightful look at prejudice than 99% of all media. Also, it's really cool to see a Disney cartoon incorporating genres you don't usually see in a Disney film, like cop drama and, when they sneak into one location, even a touch of horror.
Very good film. Enjoyable, topical, and really freaking funny. I don't think it hits the highs of Wreck-It Ralph or Frozen, but it's really good and the animation and creativity is just top shelf throughout.
What can I say? Disney hits another home run. Zootopia is a social satire with a surprising amount of bite to it, and like all good satire is funny as hell. The writing is smart and topical, the voice acting is just perfect (I love Ginnifer Goodwin), and I was especially blown away by the animation, which just gets better and better every movie. I mean, Judy Hopps' eyes alone carry more characterization than most whole films.

I think it did. Hitting the highs of Wreck-It Ralph is not difficult, because that movie was distinctly mediocre, and it hit the high of Frozen so hard it stung with Idris Elba's "Let It Go" joke.

The "Let It Go" joke was perfect.
I would happily argue that Zootopia is smarter than Wreck-It Ralph or Frozen. The film is amazing social satire, to the point where the animal characters make my brain associate it with Animal Farm by George Orwell just as readily as with other Disney fare. It would have succeeded as a film if it had just analyzed prejudice in society in a way that didn't talk down to kids, but it managed to be a more insightful and more nuanced look at prejudice than most serious discussions in our society manage to pull off. Further, I would definitely regard the animation of this film as an absolute triumph.
But I was moved more by Wreck-It Ralph, which I really enjoyed, and Frozen. To each his own.

There's one particular scene in Wreck-it-Ralph that almost always leaves me in tears and Zootopia really never came close in that regard. Otherwise I agree.

Zootopia is definitely much more social and less personal. But Frozen was a very smart movie too. It's honestly hard to rank Zootopia and Frozen against each other, because they have such different themes and approaches but both are executed so amazingly. I was really punning on "hit the highs" more than anything else.

I was surprised how they crafted a movie from serious topics into something for the whole family to see.
Possibly 1 of 3 movies to come?
