And it's not just Halo - XBOX has other, high-quality (but less than halo) games.
Like Halo 2. Which is IMO worse than halo, but ... eh ... okay. And KOTOR 2, and stuff.
KotoR is cross-platform.
I'd actually put Halo as a decent game (but boy did the single-player suck).
Halo 2 though (which I assumed you were speaking of)? Just plain bad. Rehash of original + cpl new guns = Halo 2. And seriously, what's with not taking damage from falls!? That's just weird.

Counter-Strike is something like 9 years old (but still freaking amazing).
Although I agree with your points about the PC, consoles are just nicer to play on, I don't know you but anyone who lives with other people (namely parents) often find themselves booted off the PC int he middle of a game. Consoles are easier to use and have nice controllers and a wider variety of games. Personally I don't think that graphics are the be all and end all of a game so the PCs superior graphics don't mean much to me (that said I bought a Nintendo DS yesterday and WOOOOOOOOT! those graphics are good.
Take all the money you would ever spend on consoles, buy a computer... Problem solved...
Consoles have nice controllers? PC's have controllers too... I don't know about you all, but I have a joystick, PS2 controller, and 2 DDR pads hooked up to my PC...
Wider variety?... The only thing the PC lacks is Fighting Games and Sports games... HL2 dominates FPS's at the moment... Starcraft and Warcraft dominate all FPS's at the moment (Though I think C&C is better)... Neverwinter Nights, Vampire, Baldur's Gate, Avernum, Final Fantasy, Zork, Fallout the list goes on as PC is the BIGGEST RPG system ever... Racing games own with a myriad of games I never play, Hmm I think I've run out of popular genres...
And graphics-wise, PC will always be better... Halo2-worshippers agree that its graphics suck compared to last years PC games... And you cannot possibly think that anything on GC can even touch PC...
And the BIGGEST thing that made PC's popular is not online capability... It's the ability to be edited... There are more starcraft maps out than people in the world... There are more half-life mods out than the GC has games (I love Scientist Hunt)... I've created more custom adventures for Neverwinter nights than the fanatic has masturbated to Link (The number is high)... Days after Doom 3 (sucks) and Half-Life 2 (Godly) came out, people pumped out mods... Are most of them good? No... But some are... And even the worst mod is better than anything that can be done on a GameCube...
Another thing... And I respect the Playstation for this too... PC has the most games... I could be playing Half-Life one moment, get bored, and then play Pong the next... PC can play older games... Something the GC and X-Box cannot match... I respect the PS2's ability to play PS1 games...
And when I'm tired of playing Starcraft on my desktop, I grab the CD, pop it in my laptop, then pretend to play it while my Biology 11 teacher gives lectures... I beat Half-Life single player while flying over the Atlantic Ocean!... I'd like to see you compare to that...
All in all, Uttermadness, you lose...
I respect Playstation series, don't get me wrong... But I would never buy one... But I might buy the new portable playstation...
Consoles have nice controllers? PC's have controllers too... I don't know about you all, but I have a joystick, PS2 controller, and 2 DDR pads hooked up to my PC...

Doom 3 wasn't that bad. It held my attention long enough for me to beat it.
Gamecube ... it is a great system, but it's not quite as good as the others. The games are awesome, though. mikeyG, you should get one: they're $99 now, and you can get that, SSBM, TimeSplitters2, and ... some other 4-person game ... and have an absolute blast. GC is the party station.
Of course, all my friends just play Halo when we meet ... but still. We play SSBM after ...
Gamecube has Ikaruga, too, which is IMO the best game this gen.
GC definately is for parties, but I'd still never get one. My friend has one and we never play it. Ever. I think we might've like 2 years ago. Nowadays it's more "Hey, let's get drunk and shoot some hookers in GTA with a rocket launcher!!!". *sigh* Where did our innocence go..... [/wistful]
And aside for the 'group' games (most of which he has: SSBM, Mario Party etc), the games for one player just aren't for me. I know they're good, Nintendo's only ever been about quality, but they're just not for me. I like games which are more like interactive movies, leaning more toward the more 'mature' end of that continuum. There's nothing better for me than sitting down for hours duking it out with a boss to get to the next big plot twist. Or the next hooker to shoot. Either or.
Ok I'm hearing a lot of stuff about CS and HL2. I have news for you all. I used to play CS. I got bored. Same thing over and over and over and over. Halo 2 pwns CS for gameplay and length of fun. As for people saying Half-Life 2 is a great FPS. Also to those bashing gamecube...any of you guys played metroid prime 1 or 2? IMHO it is much much better than HL2 which i have also played a lot so I'm not making ignorant claims as some are.

Doom 3
The problem with this game is the hardware req's, which basicaly exlude 2 year old pc's from running it anywere near well. This is because the engine was designed with furture tech in mind. (who the hell neeDs 16x FSAA)
But then it's not Doom 3. Then it's just "mediocre first-person shooter game with demons".
Ah yes, but would you rather play "mediocre first-person shooter game with demons" or "holy crap, how the hell am i supposed to see!?!? oh, flashlight... how the hell am I supposed to shoot!??!"
No because even then you need a gfx card with very good open GL support as well as a sizeable amount of ram, plus a 2gh proc (or effective PR rating). Also on the uk release you had to edit an .Ini file to even turn the shadows on.
Hrm, there was a fix running around that really upped framerate on lower end machines... <shrug> My comp is new so I guess I don't have much to go on. Oh well, let's just say you win because I tire of this argument.
Anyone played this game? I have it for Xbox and the PC and I must say it's one of the coolest game I've ever played. There's so much to do with basically no restrictions. I once killed the main guy (good guy, not bad) in the main quest and it still let me go on like nothing happened. Great game, tons to do.
Also, Fable. A bit on the short side, but it was amazing. A little bit easy, but that doesn't detract too much from how good it was.
morrowind is quite good, but there is no multiplayer, so it make it less interesting than NWN. But it's still a good game.
Why would you even need multiplayer for Morrowind? There's more to do than you could ever imagine and adding multiplayer would probably have been impossible.
Maybe for The Elder Scrolls IV they can figure it out.
I have all three. And, I have qualms with them too...
GC: No online. ****ty controls for the first-person shooter Metroid Prime: Echoes. I hated it. It was so, little kidish point and click. Overall, anything good out for GC spite Mario is out for the other consoles.
PS2: Online, yay! But they're not as widely played or as fun as others I will comment on later. Budokai, FF, all those good contract games that keep coming out for PS2 are awesome. DDR is sick. Etc etc. Close second.
XBox: Winner. Live is God. I play Call to Duty and Halo2 online a lot. It's so much fun. Morrowind was good. Battlefront was awesome. Call to Duty, the same. I think XBox def. takes it.
When PS3 and XBox2 comes out, who knows...
...anyone know what piece of 10 year old gamer **** Nintendo will come out with next year to sequel the GC?

Man, you know nothing. Nintendo is leading the way in console development. It may not be noticed, but Nintendo is revolutionising gaming. Sony never thinks of a side-scroller which you can play with two bongos and a clap. Microsoft wouldn't think of a multiplayer where you can fight AGAINST and WITH friends and explore wherever you want.
Who made the first popular handheld? NINTENDO!
Don't get me started on 'Nintendo is for kids'. Would you rather play an average GTA like game with pointless killing and violence or a classic piece of side-scrolling in a Mario game????
Oh, and to answer your question, Nintendo's next home console is codenamed the Nintendo Revolution...
EDIT: So not to see like a fanboy I admit that PS2 and XBox have good games on their system but most games made by Nintendo are better than whatever Microsoft tries to cook up for themselves...
I know nothing? Hmm...you're comparing good games from the NSES, like Zelda perhaps? Or a side-scrolling Mario game? Did I say ANYTHING, read, ANYTHING about those? No. Did I bring up the GC. Yes, yes I did. Is the sidescrolling Mario game out on the GC? No, it is not.
Please read. Reading is good. Your brain works goooooooooood when you read.

Sidescrolling games are on the GC. I think Donkey Kong Jungle beat is pretty much palyed as a sidescroller... And anyway, why is Nintendo kiddish. It actually prduces DECENT games.
You did say 'pretty much played', but I'll look past your own indecisiveness to answer your questions...
If DKJ is considered a SideScroller, then DDR is considered one too. Just because it scrolls up versus sideways, there are very little differences. The big differences are is that 1) DDR uses your feet, and works out, with real music, and 2) DDR came out before DKJ, so one could interpret that Nintendo got there idea from DDR itself.
I think that's the only sidescrolling game you can pull out of your ass for GC. Oh, and Windwaker looked kiddish compared to what they posted it would look like when it was still called Dolphin, and compared to the two fantastic Zelda games on N64.
Decent? Right...because, you know, I'm sure you own both copies of not only Tak, but Tak2...

I think when people say 'kiddish' when talking about Nintendo's games, they're talking about the style. Mario, Zelda, DK, old Pokemon junk, Nintendo has a history of making games that are cartoony, colorful and made to be directed (imo) towards the younger crowd. This doesn't mean the games aren't fun or not difficult, just that the style is decidedly less mature than say a Resident Evil, Halo or Metal Gear Solid game. There's nothing wrong with the 'kiddy' style, it's just not some people's cup of tea. Saying a game is kiddish doesn't mean it's bad, it just means exactly what it sounds like, the game is kiddish in style.
And while the other systems do have their own share of kiddy styled games (Ratchet & Clank, Jak & Daxter, etc), the Gamecube definately has a higher concentration of them. Pretty much every game that comes from Nintendo itself is kiddish so there's a lot more of them on GC than on PS2 or XBox.
I'm not comparing SNES games togames produced now. I'm talking about stuff like Zelda: Four Swords Advetures. Now that my rant is over, I suppose I can argue more fairly, it's just that I would say you get more out of owning a Gamecube than you would from owning your 'God of all consoles' Xbox.
First of all what is DDR? Secondly, DKJB hasn't come out here, so it is true that I don't know all about it but my phrase 'pretty much played' was meant to get acroos the fact that the game is sidescroller except for the fight scenes.
Like {mikeyG} said though, Xbox has its own kiddish games but at least the games on the Gamecube that, if you would consider are kidish, are good.
If you prove your point to me that you think there aren't any good sidescrollers for GC, I'll accept that but you won't be able to prove to me that Nintendo is kiddish. I suppose I shouldn't have gotten in a mindless rant, so sorry for that...
DDR = Dance Dance Revolution. Fascinating little game. It's a real gem. I love it. Excercise is good sometimes too.
Wasn't Four Swords for GBA? I made no references to the HandHelds. I own a GBA and a GB, and will probably pick up a DS sometime in the near future.
How can GameCube even compare with XBox when the Box has Live capbilities? Link system capabilities? Etc etc? I'm just so confused how you can say the GameCube is better. I bet your Top 5 games for the Cube has atleast 3 that are offered on other systems. Don't lie.

No I'm talking about the Four Swords for Gamecube.
I agree that Microsoft did make a good move with the online capabilities but I think that Nintendo does rule with multiplayer. Stuff like Wario Ware must be a blast!
I don't have a top favorite list. I've only got 16 games of which only 5 are for other consoles..
I've never played WarioWare.
No reasons to apologize. I didn't take any offense, and I hope you didn't either.
All I can say is that Halo2 online is very enjoyable.
