I hate playing ranked, every single game I play the best I can, obliterate my lane, and still lose due to trolls and afk'ers. What makes it worse is I lose like 30-40 elo with each loss and only get 15-20 per win. Is there any justice in this world?
On another note, just played my first game as Nidalee(In ranked, my team loved hearing that). I crushed Riven top, even though the enemy jungle/mid lane camped me the whole game. Nid's a ton of fun, it's so easy to avoid ganks/disengage a fight with her, and her damage is deceptively good, even when going full tank. Went 7/2/13 with her, even doubled Riven's cs.
To all those Riven/Nid players out there: How's the matchup supposed to go? I felt like Riven should have the advantage, seeing as she can close the gap quickly and out dps me. But I guess ranged harass is just too annoying for Riven.
My solo queue Elo is pretty low because I'm a role specialist (ADC) due to prioritizing my ranked teams over solo queue, so my non-ADC games are pretty rough... Absolutely amazing how few solo queue lower Elo ADCs know how to carry a game. As ADC I get beaten in lane by a little bit every few games, but without fail the players who beat me in lane don't know how to turn a few kills and a lot of CS into a game win.
Winning lane and carrying game are two totally different skills. You need to be good at both. There are uncarryable games, but not nearly as many as you might think, as long as you get your farm. Winning your lane doesn't mean you're going to be more valuable than the other guy later on if you don't know how to press the advantage.
Yet for some reason people still consistently think they're low Elo because they have bad luck.
If you can't raise your Elo at least into the 1500/1600 range, there's some problem with your gameplay. In my case, I'd fit in that range - barely - as an ADC, but I'm nowhere close to that at my other roles. That's the problem with my gameplay; I'm hard to fit into a team because when I don't get a particular role, I'm just not very good, and if you get me with someone else who has called ADC (or a duo queue bot lane), I put my team at a severe disadvantage. I'm working on it, but I don't have a ton of time and there are four roles to learn.
If you always win your lane by a lot, there's still something wrong with your game - probably something to do with teamwork, morale, your champion selection (you're picking lane stompers who can't carry), or your skills at carrying the mid/late game, or you just haven't played enough for the good teams and bad teams to average out (everyone gets runs of bad luck in their teams, but if you play the game consistently, it'll average out with runs of good luck as well).

I've actually tested this myself, I've played solo queue at the 1400-1500 elo but duo queued at the 1600-1700 elo in the same time span of a day or two. In the 1400-1500 elo, there are more "trolls" if you will; the leavers, complainers, harassers, non-cooperative lot. But in the 1600-1700 elo, you don't get that as much and i've managed to keep up just fine with them.
Perhaps it's bad luck that almost every game I get at the 1400-1500 level, I either get placed with a guy that can't carry, a complainer, people fighting for roles or people that do stupid things.
On Shaco: He's a very weird champ because unless your top picks a tank, you have a squishy team and he kinda puts a time limit on winning
On Elo trolls: 1200 is universally accepted as the worst followed by like 1600. Everyone at 1600 is a "platinum smurf" at whatever role they are trying to get and you "don't want to win" if you pick that role.
On low elo AD carries: Sometimes it's not the AD carries fault that he can't carry his team. Team feed, team doesn't peel, team actively kicks the enemy onto you, bad team comp, ect. I've gone from 9/2 to 11/7 with the "help" of my team. I know I have holes in my game, but there is only some much that you can do as the ad carry. Fed or not. One of my biggest flaws is, I'm not sure how to win a game if the other team has a hard initiate and my team doesn't. I don't always have the strongest farm. I've carried myself to 1400s and trust me, it's not always the AD carries fault that he can't do his job. Especially if you aren't an AD carry with an escape. The 4 people on your team are also at your elo for a reason, and if you are trying to steer them and they won't listen then is that really you?
I have problems with these champs: (in this order)
Darius/Kat
Jax/Rengar/Diana
I can't seem to win any game where the other team has one of those. The top 2 I've just found that whoever has them wins. We were in champ select in my last game and someone picks Kat I'm like GG. We win unless someone on the other team has Darius. They got a darius, our kat left, Darius went 1/3 -> 9/5.
I mostly play Shaco Morde and Fizz (Jungle and Mid mostly), there are tons of champs I like, but almost all are Mid and Jungle.

This. You don't actually need to be all that good to get to 1600+ elo but you need the mindset. Let things go. It's hard for me. I spend too much time picking out how poorly someone has done and it has lost me my share of games. I rarely lose lane but I lose the game because I am just so blind sometimes.

Darius - Kite kite kite, slows can severely hurt his dps as his e is a short range gap closer.
Kat- Honestly kat requires good team coordination to counter which is why she's such a terror in solo-q. The best way to counter her to to hold back a stun and have an assassin go on her the moment she makes her move. If not at least having a silence or some other cc your team won't be banking on you initiating or locking down with is key.
jax- You need to be able to stun him if he jumps onto a carry and you need to be able to burst him. It also helps to try to win the game before lategame as jax is a pretty solid carry lategame.
rengar- he sucks now, all you have to do is make it to 6 and he'll have 0 damage, 0 sustain, and crappy utility. He is literally bad at everything now.
Diana- She's even worse, she can't do anything if she doesn't get fed now. If she doesn't have a huge gold advantage she isn't going to out dps any other ap carry. Hell akali is more terror than her now.
Nami feels incredibly powerful. I'm really trying to work my ass off to grind up the IP for her since I can't afford the RP, and I've wanted her since I first saw her, since she looked like a very unique kind of support. But she plays like an incredibly aggressive Sona! After level 6? You own the lane, you don't even NEED your laning partner anymore. I want to try her mid once I learn the new AP builds. Locket of the Iron Solari looks gooood for her

Currently Getting Back into the swing of MTGS. Bear with me folks~

I don't think I can kite with Morde Shaco Nunu Fizz, with all 4 being melee. Then add panth and I'm a sad panda.

They always get fed. QQ for 300+3AD dmg with +150% Atk Spd? You ambush 1 guy in a jungle/bush and you start snowballing. I've seen two rengars today. One could 1 vs 1 me as shaco, and I was stupid fed. Like mid teens/below 5 and he had an average score (maybe 6/5?). I could take him on, but his initial burst would leave me unable to do anything but recall. The second one sucked and was on my team.
Diana- She's even worse, she can't do anything if she doesn't get fed now. If she doesn't have a huge gold advantage she isn't going to out dps any other ap carry. Hell akali is more terror than her now.
I hate Diana. I think it's cause she counters my usual champs. Morde/Nunu are usually tanky enough to run away when I see I'm losing a fight. Fizz and Shaco have the mobility. Diana ****s on all of them. You can't leave her. You can run as soon as she jump on you, in which case she takes no damage and half kills you. Or you can fight and get killed. Stupid stupid champ.

Have you played her since the nerfs? She's like a worse akali now.
Alright, there are two champs that I'm working on right now because I've seen them played well, and when they are, they are complete game changers. They look stupid easy to win with, but then I try playing them and even against the AIs I can't pull off the awesome that I've seen in game.
Shaco is the first champ I'm talking about, and I've got the first jungle clear figured out, but after that I can't seem to pull off the jank that Shaco always pulls. A good Shaco makes a gank look so easy, but for the life of me I cannot figure this out. Maybe I just don't know how to gank from the jungle. Maybe there's some secret to Shaco. I don't know. What items do I get and when? Start with Box is obvious, and I know to max E, but do I get Q at level 2 or 4? Gah!
The other champ is Ez. I've decided that I need to have a "good" ADC in the stable and I gave up on learning how to play Draven right. I get that E should be saved as an escape. W seems really hard to land, so should I even bother with this skill?
Both of these champions have me thinking about another subject though - quickcast. Do you guys rebind the qwer keys to quick cast? Do you think that helps your reaction time? Is this something that could be done for every champion?

"[Screw] you and the green you ramped in on." - My EDH battle cry. If I had one. Which I don't.

Ouch.
Bots are so predictable that you should be able to pull of insane scores with any champ :/

I'd look up high Elo Shaco replays. Already having a knowledge of the various routes to gank any lane helps immensely, 'cause if you know that stuff you'd see how many opportunities Shaco has to successfully gank a lane that most other junglers might not be able to exploit.
Item-wise, Shaco is very flexible. Build what your team needs, or what is good against the enemy. Do note, what you build also depends on how well you/your team is doing relative to the opponents.
The other champ is Ez. I've decided that I need to have a "good" ADC in the stable and I gave up on learning how to play Draven right. I get that E should be saved as an escape. W seems really hard to land, so should I even bother with this skill?
The "secret" to any ADC are these:
1. Last hit well. About 100 CS by ~13 minutes is the goal. This may not be achievable every game depending on how much action goes down in bot lane.
2. Position well. You typically want to be in the back lines, but you also have to know when you can be aggressive (knowledge of what CC/burst your opponents have, their CDs, and when they've been used are all crucial). The ability to output maximum DPS while remaining out of harm's way is what makes or breaks an ADC.
Both of these champions have me thinking about another subject though - quickcast. Do you guys rebind the qwer keys to quick cast? Do you think that helps your reaction time? Is this something that could be done for every champion?
Smartcast is fantastic, especially after having played Dota for years. I don't think it helps reaction times if we define reaction time as the time it takes your brain to foment a physical response; rather, it reduces the action time, which is the time it takes to complete the physical response. But I understand what you're trying to get at, and yes I do think smartcast is like sliced bread.

I have not rebound any keys.
I admit I haven't played Ez since he was popular, but I play(ed) both those champs. (Ez AP more though as I played everything AP.)
Shaco I've heard is hard to master. In my case I usually counter jungle early game (level 2) So I got WQE. Then the order (for me, I'm not a pro) is RQEW. Shaco is an Incredi-ganker. The Q gives you ridiculous ganks. Usually you can (if the person is half HP) Q, AA, E, ignite and watch them waste flash and die. If they don't you just AA as they run away (backstab is great in both cases, remember to always Q from the back. +20% damage and they gotta run further to leave you.) If you can not use your q to initate then you'll laugh at how easy it is. Walk from your tower into the lane bushes, then come close, wait for a close enough guy, walk up to him, attack. Laugh as they flash and you Q to them for moar damage. Ah, this is making me smile
Dying with Shaco is kinda hard, especially if you have blue. You Q is amazing though. Sooo amazing. It's everything. Like if your top needs you to hold the lane, when he comes back, make it look like you're running back (like take 1 step back, but q towards them and you have a top laner who isn't expecting you to jump on them and a 2 vs 1 Also don't forget to always move to the back of creeps to get the backstab bonus.
EDIT: And I have everything smart cast. Items, summoners and qwer (although item 65 are TY respectively.)
And know you can kill dragon super easily with your clone. Tank the damage till dragon is half health if you can kill it in under 18 seconds, or until you are 40-35% hp then switch to your clone (you want your clone to last 18 seconds but be 1 DragonAA away from dying, or dies at the last second if you can manage it). I admit I don't know if the 20% extra damage applies to dragon/baron cause they seem to be immune to debuffs but I do it anyways. Also from playing AP shaco a year ago, I managed to get good box placement, I can't really explain it, but I've gotten kills from my boxes like a teemo would with his shrooms with like 0 AP. And tons of assist. If you place a box at your towers so they don't dive your team, be careful to not place them in front where minions will set them off. Side or back is where you want them.
EDIT: And your clone rocks, using it to dodge abilities (lmao, karth ults you can use it to juke, damage, surprise, tank. So many things. And I'm watching a high elo shaco game to see how he does. I see one mistake, he doesn't use his boxes enough, he barely uses them except to jungle it seems. Free wards, speed bumps and everything, they rock.
K his whole kit rocks, just saying. Except E. I use it as ranged damage(or extra damage), and as a slow and nothing else.

I can't really help you out with Shaco at all, since i've sworn never to play him(Same with Yorick, the game is supposed to be fun, you know?). But I can definitely chime in on Ez.
Smartcast is definitely good for Ez, since his abilities are fairly spammable and are an intricate part of his overall dps, being able to cast them quickly is a must. I recommend laning with a support who has some hard cc, stuns and snares and whatnot. Ez has nothing but skillshots, and the easiest thing to aim at is a still target. If your support can land a stun or snare, use your e to shift into a good position and just land q and some autos.
W is incredibly easy to land, I tend to max it second after q, the atk speed bonus is an allstar, and the damage is decent. Another thing i'd like to mention, is that while e is great for escapes, it's also wonderful for chases and whatnot. Even just using e to change positions is good, positioning is key for skillshot users. Don't be afraid to use e, the cooldown isn't too bad. Also, going Iceborn Gauntlet after BT on Ez is just op. Kite for days. I've been really liking Cleaver on him as well, cdr is nice on Ez.
I tend to keep everything on smartcast, but sometimes i'll take it off if I really want to see the exact position of the skill(I only ever turn it off for Jarvan's flag toss.). As far as smartcasting items go, I have 2 set to smartcast(for dfg and stuff) and the rest on default. Misplacing wards due to smartcast sucks.
I can't really help you out with Shaco at all, since i've sworn never to play him(Same with Yorick, the game is supposed to be fun, you know?). Shaco is incredibly fun!
Misplacing wards due to smartcast sucks.
This only happens in like 3 games after you make the switch then your fine. It's hilarious, cause you then feel bad for 3 minutes.
I seem to like Fizz and Shaco, and I feel they play similarly (assassin with lots of moving) any more like that?
His early clear is pretty terror, but other than that he's fine. Assassins are pretty strong right now, so people are trying them out everywhere.
He isn't.
****ing clowns.
Winning lane and carrying game are two totally different skills. You need to be good at both. There are uncarryable games, but not nearly as many as you might think, as long as you get your farm. This. You don't actually need to be all that good to get to 1600+ elo but you need the mindset. Let things go. It's hard for me. I spend too much time picking out how poorly someone has done and it has lost me my share of games. I rarely lose lane but I lose the game because I am just so blind sometimes.

Full build for first time. 22.5k gold in 50 minutes. Freefarming Nasus+Elise are the end of you though.

Pristaxcontrombmodruu!
This only happens in like 3 games after you make the switch then your fine. It's hilarious, cause you then feel bad for 3 minutes.
I seem to like Fizz and Shaco, and I feel they play similarly (assassin with lots of moving) any more like that?
Khazix is my favorite mobile ad assassin atm, lee sin to if you build him assassin though he's bit more a bruiser.
