With Gary Johnson being mathematically impossible, and Hillary being so entrenched in the Clinton Foundation Mob that she'd surely pick a corrupt VP, the only hope left to us is that Trump picks a good vice president and someone shoots Trump.
Trump today refused to endorse Ryan and McCain in their primary bids. I must give him credit for his tenacity in getting vengeance against any he feels has slighted him. He also called out Ayotta as weak and disloyal. If McCain and Ayotta do not keep their seats I do not see any way that the GOP can keep a majority in the Senate. It already looks like it will be difficult for the Republicans to do so.
In tinfoil hat land, the idea that Trump is an operative for the Democratic party gains more steam.
I'm just curious if a Democratic controlled senate can block Trump's potential SCJ nominee for four years. Turnabout is fair play and all.
They could if they want to lose any moral highground they had. With the current Gridlock in both houses being caused by Republican obstructionism the Democrats can point at their Republican Counterparts and quite loudly announce that the Republicans aren't interested in the proper running of the country and are just in it for the money and prestige. They lose that if they then start playing from the same play book.
The only time they should veto any Supreme court nomination is if the nominee is not qualified to do it regardless of the positions they hold on the issues.

That's cute. Ask the base of each major party. They're perfectly fine with not compromising and waiting until the next election cycle since they view the opposing party as the left hand of Satan.
I agree. We should all only play g/x decks because they are the most objectively fun and anyone who disagrees does not know the truth about EDH. Everyone should just play their decks because interaction beyond high fiving about how many land are in play is unfun and equivalent to casting Stasis while kicking puppies. I for one will never play with anyone who casts tutors, removal spells, blue cards, things I arbitrarily decide I don't like but will probably cast myself later.
Based on his reported plan to delegate all policy decisions to Kasich as the VP, I don’t think Trump would actually be doing any nominating. I would not expect some used car salesman crony from this past to be up for the seat. It would probably be another instance of him ceding all input on an issue that doesn’t matter to him, much like the rest of the entire Republican platform at the convention.
I think Trump would mostly be the sort of absentee, lead by proxy sort of President that George W Bush was. The scary thing with him, there probably are one or two things that he’d really, really like to do as President. But, they are probably so horrible that he can’t actually get it onto any political platform beforehand. I was a bit shocked when Manafort came out and said that not even the non-interference with Ukraine aspect of the platform came from the Trump campaign. But ultimately, it was not all that hard to believe based on other facts surfacing that Trump is not at all interested in actually serving as President.
Not all states require the electoral college to vote the way their popular vote went; and so that means you can have "faithless" electoral votes, where the electoral college vote differs from what the popular vote says it should be. So, it's entirely possible that Trump could hemorrhage additional electoral votes if those electors don't see him as fit for office. That means that even solid red states may be some shade of purple, making it even harder for the GOP nominee to win a position in government; which frankly might be a good reason for this system to have even been set up.
Well maybe this could have the additional side effect of finally spurring some action on the completely useless electoral college.

Even in the states that do force you to hold to the popular vote there aren't that many that have penalties for not doing so. It seems that a lot of them work on the honour system and trust that the electors will vote according to the instructions they receive from the states.

As a European (to be more exact German) that has always confused me about the electoral system in the US. Here in Germany we have two votes: One party vote and one for our local representative in the Bundestag (our primary legislative power). Both count directly for the results of the vote. Granted, Germany has less than a third of the population of the US, but then again, both are technologically advanced countries, counting votes shouldn't be that hard (I think, of course I know about the Florida debacle in the 2000 election). I mean, theoretically every single voter could vote for Hillary and still get Trump if all electors decide to do "faithless" votes. Doesn't that sound slightly odd to anyone else as well? Just a thought.
On another note, pretty much all european states (except for extreme right-wing parties inside of them) seem to favor Hillary because Trump seems to be viscious, hyperaggressive, doesn't consider facts of any kind (his campaign seems to have embraced the paradigm "Facts don't matter, feelings do!" as far as I can tell from Interviews which is quite worrying) and does nothing to show himself as being reliable or balanced. On the other hand it is also quite clear that Hillary isn't that great a deal either (many over here would have preferred Sanders).
I am still not convinced by the way that he isn't a deep-cover democrat. I can't tell the difference. It's also interesting how his candidacy challenges the GOP and might change it. Interesting times...
EDIT: And if anyone is interested, politifact.com lists how many statements of Hilary and Trump were wrong (or even "pants on fire" wrong). It looks much worse for one of them, I can tell you...
What stuck out to me this week was the old line, “I’m only losing because the election is rigged.” I think Trump even made overt comments to the media that the election process is rigged. Soooo many things here have been reminiscent of early 20th century Fascism. This latest “we would win if the process were fair” type line sounds a lot like late 20’s Germany.
Even if Trump is defeated, and he more than likely will be, his voters are going to be indoctrinated to feel cheated. This movement doesn’t look like it’s going away after the election.
Unfortunately his campaign has been thriving on ineptness for a year now. Its uncanny. I would really love to think that there would be some serious fall off from some of his actions but Trump supporters don't seem to care at all.
Looking at the list of things he's done this week alone, I honestly have never seen a candidate for a major office try so hard to not get elected to that office. If he was anyone other than Trump, I would say he's trying to throw the race. But he's Trump, so I'm not sure what the heck he's thinking.
As much as I hate being political, I want to continue to see this man bleed like this.
With these kind of personalities, the only way you can make them forcibly learn anything is through humility. A very harsh form of it. Although in this case I'm not even sure if that would work.

Well when he loses come November (or February in the event of an electoral college uprising) then he will be a loser just like he said about McCain and Romney.
Don't forget all the Sanders supporters who actually *were* cheated. There is going to be some serious resentment on all sides.
Even though I would have preferred Sanders he didn't get the numbers and people need to deal with that and move on. Even without the super delegates he trailed by a significant margin. Some shady stuff may have happened but it would not have changed the point difference.
Unfortunately that is how the dems have decided the game is to be played. Honestly I think the whole primary system needs to be overhauled and redone for consistency and proper representation. Sanders was unable to sway the Dem establishment which is part of winning the nomination. The thing is I can understand the point of super delegates. If the Republicans had them we wouldn't be looking Trump. We would have Bush or Rubio, two choices that wouldn't make me loose sleep at night. Instead we have a racist demagogue straight from the skeleton ridden closets of the Republican party come to enact vengeance on our political system. Still though super delegates should be tallied at the end to avoid influencing voters if the dems are going to keep using them.
We have two demagogues running for President and both are arguably sociopaths but somehow Gary Johnson is considered "edgy." LOL. Oh no, don't vote for Gary, he might push for marijuana decriminalization and minor tax cuts... how scary! This electorate cracks me up. He's the Bud Light of libertarianism, but he's still got my vote over those two.
Anyway, if it has to be Trump or Hillary then I guess my poison is Trump. Because they're both equally evil to me, so I'm going with spite. I don't take kindly to the way SJWs have tried to hijack this election and threatened (and even enacted) violence upon those who dared defy them. They will no doubt riot and burn our cities when Trump is elected and, as usual, they will blame it on Trump since they are incapable of wrongdoing. But I would compare it to the Garland, Texas case: if someone threatens to kill us for drawing cartoons, I'd rather be with the cartoonists than the killers.

Meanwhile in the real world, Donald Trump doesn't understand why using nuclear weapons would be a bad thing. [link] [other link]
Looking on the bright side, I guess the nuclear winter and depopulation from a limited nuclear exchange would possibly reverse some of the effects of anthropogenic climate change for a while? Also, it's not like anyone is likely to nuke NZ so if Trump gets baited into playing DEFCON IRL I'll probably be fine.

Gary Johnson wants to eliminate the federal income tax and replacing it with a federal sales tax. That's not a "minor tax cut" - that's a complete overhaul of our entire tax structure. He also not only supports marijuana decriminalization, he thinks all drugs should be legalized.
