Whoever voted for themselves, we know who you are. Please don't do it again. Everytime you vote for yourself, God clubs a baby seal. Plus, if everyone voted for themselves, it wouldn't be much a contest, would it? "1 vote for everyone, wooohooo!"
I think I worded my question poorly. I am writing a story which is supposed to be like 30+ pages. This story is the only good thing I have to give because I don't have time to write something else. My question was: can I continue to post excerpts from this story even though they have no resolution to them?

It's funny because innocent people that were trying to pay the bills for their families were brutally murdered.
It is my personal opinion that this venue is better suited for completed stories. However, having said that, I will remain neutral and won't prevent you from posting unresolved excerpts.
I understand. I will only do it this next week. After that hopefully I will have a new story with an actually ending. If I don't I will just wait till the week after that.

Well, I'm glad that I got ONE vote...thanks epock...I was thinking of continuing the saga, but with such poor reception, I think I'll leave it to others
And yes, no incantatrix for you. Or anyone. That class makes puppies cry. Mostly because they are the former Big Bads who have been Baleful Polymorphed into said puppies. By you. Because you're an incantatrix.

This is Deraxas we're talking about.

Yeah, I don't see her handling a pissing match in any way other than a duel.

I suppose it's true. Though the logistics implied in a human/Great Wyrm Prismatic Dragon pairing makes me shudder.
...Something tells me that even should all arcane casters in the world unite, that the Grease spell would NOT be sufficient.
Well, the poll is closed; I'd start a new one today, but 7 entries seems too little, and I want to make things more interesting, so I'll give it more time.
I'd also like to commend one story that is better than its score could indicate: Watching, by lostandthedamned. Anyone who ever used public transit in a large city can appreciate the feelings of claustrophobia and paranoia this story tries to convey. I even had an idea of writing a counter-story (same events, depicted from the perspective of whoever was watching the author...).
This story was on my 'shortlist to vote for', but eventually didn't make top 4, I don't quite remember why.
And A Simple Game, by Grain of Salt was my personal favorite. A very nice fable-style writing, I could see something like that coming from the quill of Aesopus...

Thanks! Your story was great as well- it deserved to win.
(I'll submit something for this week if I can think of anything.)

I wouldn't mind reading more. I rather liked your story.
It's just that there were not enough votes to go around and there were too many good stories posted.
Yea kokusho, keep writing. There were a lot of good submissions last week. Sorry you didn't get more votes but you can't get any if you don't submit something.

Since there weren't any new entries for the last 2 days, I have more-or-less arbitrarily decided to close this round. Submission for the next round are, as always, welcome.
Dagger: I like the flow of your story, the characterization and conflict between the two animals, but the ending was just unremarkable and a bit of a letdown. It was fine as a fable without the witchcraft.
Davios: Your story I found, as with Dagger's, to be convincing and interesting...up until the ending. The mood was not set up earlier in the piece for such a heavy, depressed finale. I was certainly excited while reading most of it--the sexy girl, her glass of ice (great touch), the pink pillows--but the end fell sudden and flat.
Just my 2 cents.

Yea, I agree. It was one of those...I could end this so many different ways. This would make a good special edition DVD. I probably picked the wrong way to end it.
I think I have to disagree with you, Bismarck, on how you view the ending of that piece. I think it was actually a great ending to the story. It's a story of the last night out for a man before he finds the right woman and gets married. It's not depressing, but... Inspirational, I think the word is.

The original intention was that 'witchcraft' should be an element in the story. However, I got too carried away again (forgetting the 500 words limit) and had to heavily remove or modify 'lots of scenes' in the ending. It disrupted the flow somewhat near the end and gave it an 'abrupt' feel, but I would still rather it have a conclusive ending.
The fable suggestion is enlightening though. I originally thought that the only way to go with talking animals would be through the fantasy genre. In retrospect, it would certainly make the story smoother. Thanks for reading it and giving me comments on it.
I will read the submissions soon and post some feedback. If anyone wants to read mine and tell me what you think, It'll be appreciated.
Technically, I avoid looking at any of the stories until the poll is up, to preserve all the sugary goodness till I can consume them in one go. Sometimes, I can't resist though...
Graphical description. Slightly morbid. Contrasting feelings. A man resigned to his duty and the burden that came with it. A nice and poignant read.
(edit: my story's up for week 2 if anyone's interested in reading it.)

I actually did type a story, but it was over 500 words and it's still not even finished. I think I'll submit it as my entry for SSC instead.

474 words, whew! Hopefully this will be found a bit less morbid...

In addition, the title also has a double meaning. A to whoever manages to guess it.
