I'd like to have a creature that could, whenever it attacks, gain a certain amount of keyword abilities from other creatures on the battlefield.
I.e. I control a creature with first strike and my opponent controls a creature with deathtouch -> my "thief" could gain first strike and deathtouch until end of turn.
I wanted to know if there was a way to use a wording different than the one used for Odric, Lunarch Marshal, which I find quite heavy... Something like :
Whenever ~ attacks, target up to two creatures. ~ gains up to three abilities targeted creatures have.
The rules can support gaining "keyword abilities" as what they are spelled is out in the rules. The problem is it would effect all abilities listed under MCR702. Keyword Abilities. Your ability just needs some wording clarification.
Whenever ~ attacks, choose up to two target creatures. Choose up to three keyword abilities those creatures have, ~ gains the chosen abilities until end of turn.
While I doubt they would ever print a card like this the rules can support it. There are a LOT of irrelevant or awkward abilities that can be gained like this, though it doesn't seem like any of them inherently break the game.
In addition to what user_938036 has said, there are a few keyword abilities that won't be functional if they're gained this way. Two of them are devoid and changeling. These are both characteristic-defining abilities that define characteristics that are checked earlier in the layer system than the standard ability-modifying effects. This means that if devoid and changeling are gained by the creature this way, they won't do anything.

How to use card tags (please use them for everybody's sanity)
[c]Lightning Bolt[/c] -> Lightning Bolt
[c=Lightning Bolt]Apple Pie[/c] -> Apple Pie
Vowels-Only Format Minimum deck size: 60 Maximum number of identical cards: 4 Ban list: Cards whose English names begin with a consonant, Unglued and Unhinged cards, cards involving ante, Ancestral Recall
Thought Criminal: indeed, I didn't think of these two. Let's just hope that if someone ever plays this card, he won't chose Devoid or Changeling to copy It's a bit the same for ETB keywords (like Fabricate.)
