So I was just wondering what are the "de facto", "head canon", "grokkable" P/T of certain creatures? What are "flavorful?"
Just curuious if you try to get a Custom Card to fit into these P/T . These are not required ofcourse, but you know.
Angels - 4/4 because of the numerous angel tokens default to 4/4. At least for the red shirt angels. Serra Angel Demons - 6/6 because 666 is devil blah blah. Also iconic Deemies like Abyssal Persecutor and Desecration Demon. Devils - 1/1 for tokens and HighPower/LowToughness. Nagas - x/4 toughness is four+. LowPower/HighToughness Zombies - 2/2. Auto grokkable, also iconic zombie tokens. Minotaur- 2/3. Tokens, Ragemonger, Anaba Bodyguard Soldiers- 1/1 . Tokens Knights - 2/2. Tokens, White Knight, Black Knight, Attended Knight Saprolings- 1/1. Tokens Bear - 2/2. Centaurs- 3/3. Tokens, Nessian Centaur, Centaur's Herald,
What other Defacto toughness and power can you think of?
Actually, there are more 5/5 demons than there are 6/6 demons, and most demon tokens are 5/5 flyers. Of course, you could just have dragons be the 5/5 flyers (Shivan Dragon, y'know) so angels-dragons-demons can go 4-5-6.
Most creature tokens are 1/1 by default i.e. elves, goblins, merfolk, warriors, wizards, etc.
In green, wolves and elephants are the archetypical 2/2s and 3/3s, especially in token form.
titanic (greater than Wurm-size) - Eldrazi, Leviathan, Kraken, Serpent?
comes with no upper limit - Beast (usually pow+tou>=6; e. g. 3/3, 4/2, 4/4; I like to think a Baloth is a 4/4, but there are other types of Beast)
all sizes fit - Elemental
specific non-square - Treefolk (pow<tou; 2/5), Spider (pow<tou; 1/3 or 2/4; reach), Minotaur (2/3)
preferable variable (*/* or X/X) - Hydra, Ooze, Shapeshifter
For sentient races there is generally the option to vary the size based on occupation/class (e. g. a Human Soldier would be a 1/1 a Human Knight A 2/2).
I call these "archetype" stats and many of them are based on tokens if they fit iconic cards for the creature type.

Planar Chaos was not a mistake neither was it random. You might want to look at it again.

Those are very accurate to what we usually see in MTG. Personally use my own custom scale:
0/1: The same as WotC. Things that can't fight like plants and goats.
1/1: Humanoids (humans, elves, goblins) without fighting skills, small animals (fox, rats).
2/2: Standard fighting humanoids (this is why I break tradition and do 2/2 soldiers). Medium size predators like wolfs and wild cats.
3/3: Humanoids with significant combat advantage like horse riding knights, centaurs, minotaurs, loxodon. Apex predators like tigers, bears and gryphons.
4/4: Large Humanoids like Ogres and Trolls. Supernatural beings like most Angels and Vampires. Fantastical beasts like Baloths and Manticores. Crazy strong animals like Rhinos.
5/5: Enormous humanoids like giants. Large super natural beings like Demons and Djinn. Large Dinosaurs. Large war machines like moderate size warships.
6/6: Dragons, Titans, Giant War Machines, Sea Serpents.
7/7: Wurms. Massive warships.
8/8: Krakens. King Kong size monsters.
9/9: Leviathans.
Usually +1/+1 represents standard combat skill. Most minotaurs are 3/3, a well trained Minotaur would be 4/4. +2/+2 is top notch combat skill. Also I like to interpret even combats as beings 50% winnings chance (so a very well trained human warrior takes on a brute force Minotaur with 50% chance). +3/+3 is stuffy of legends, like a humans being on par with a vampire. Magic may give bonus in similar fashion.

Finally a good white villain quote: "So, do I ever re-evaluate my life choices? Never, because I know what I'm doing is a righteous cause."
