The ability cost is one mana, not a tap symbol. It basically lets all your mana be any colour.

Colourless mana comes FIRST! Try actually looking at a Magic card some time. It is NOT UU3, it's 3UU. What game are you making cards for?
I can no longer tell people to check their card names, because I am made of suck and fail.
It doesn't seem all that good, really. Maybe in some situations, but 5 mana is a lot for an effect that probably won't be that useful. It's flavour is a little bleh, too.
AEther Prism 4
Artifact 1: Add one mana of any colour to your mana pool. Spend only colourless mana this way. "From drab to FABULOUS!" - Boris, Interior Designer
Possibly? But with better flavour text, of course. Heh.
Mana Converter 0
Legendary Artifact W: Add U to your manapool. U: Add B to your manapool. B: Add R to your manapool. R: Add G to your manapool. G: Add W to your manapool.
Whenever an activated ability of ~ is played, put a Charge counter on it.
Whenever ~ has five or more Charge counters on it, sacrifice it.
At the beginning of each upkeep, remove a Charge counter from ~.
Ok idea is, that you can Convert your mana freely, "but" only to the color direct to the right side.
The funny thing is that this allows 4 white mana to become blue, blue to become black and the like, which is ofcourse something that can easy be usefull.
But beside that the card allows you to converted 1 white into a green, or any color of mana into another, you just have to "cycle" your mana more to get a color away from the color to the right.
The cards primary use is to color fix you and it does this good, however it is limited to how much it can channel until it explodes.
However, the card can fix each deck to play spells and it offers enough "power" (as it costs 0) to be a Mythic Rare that has some Story connection (like the Mirrari).
And for me its just more fun to get something special especially as a Mythic it somehow should feel special and not be just a random Mana cycler like many cards (as quite a lot green allready do).
Even better could be an design that charges an Dynamo with the Mana for an effect.
Mana Engine Mk.II 5
Legendary Artifact 1: Put a Charge counter on ~. 1, Remove a Charge counter from ~: Add one mana of any color to your manapool.
Remove a Charge counter from ~: Untap ~. T, Remove five Charge counter from ~: Put a 5/5 artifact golem creature token into play. T, Remove twenty Charge counter from ~: Destroy each non-artifact permanent in play.
So this could be an insane powerfull Engine that fuels with Mana and stores it to unleash it in a big turn or uses the mana to energize Golems to build an Army, the "final" full charged ability will simply crush any non-artifact like a Neutron-Bomb.
Its just that as an "mystic" i feel the card should be of great power and have a Story to tell instead of just being an random artifact that does nothing "special".
The Story could tell that this engine is so powerfull that it can match an Planeswalkers power and starts to think on its own and wants to suck up all the Mana it can get.
so if you had :symw::symw: and wanted :symu::symu: you'd have to find a way to untap it, such as by turning into :symb:. You'd also have to add something do deal with the asymmetry, such as having it not untap during your untap, and a choice of having it come into play tapped or untapped
I played around with something of a similar design for a design challenge once:
Master of New Alara 5
Legendary Creature - Human Druid
1: Add 1 mana of any color to your mana pool.
All nonland cards you own that aren’t in play, spells you control, and nonland permanents you control are all colors.

@TheOnlyOne: Would either of those suggestions even fit on a card? O.o
If you want to have a text fit it will allways, you can make the font smaller if needed.
A space eating part is the use of the 5 ways to channel colors to the right, however, a way could be to place them not under another, but 2 in a row, the text is short enough, let some space between them in that case.
For what essentially is a mono coloured Orochi Leafcaller, these are getting awfully clunky. =/
Actually the mana cycling is not bad at all, if your set wants you to play "mono" you can play cards of 2 colors which would normally requiere a strong mono colored base giving easy splashes, which is a welcome gift.
Prismatic Orb
Artifact (R)
You may spend mana as though it were mana of any color.
That would for sure be the way to go if its just for the need to have all your lands 5-color, Prismn of Omen does it for green lands a lot stronger as it makes your lands Domain, and Mycosinth Latice has some interactions because of its other abilities (as making anything in artifacts is ofcourse a mighty ability, but the combinations are just to slow that really would effect Constructed formats [example March of the Machines to destroy all lands and make your cards in creatures] ).
However the idea to have an Engine in what you put in mana and get another isnt bad as it works better flavourwise, beside that you have potential ways to abuse it, Mana Reflection for example (makes 2 mana for 1 spend, which goes infinited).

Your card's directional mana is nice, but the text would have to be super-small-Ice Cauldron size. It loses the spiraling mana, but I think the abilities need to be consolidated. For example:
Mana Engine1
Artifact (U) 1, Put a depletion counter on CARDNAME: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool. If CARDNAME has four depletion counters on it, sacrifice it.
At the beginning of your upkeep, remove all depletion counters from CARDNAME.

Fit on a card and be readable, I mean.

I just meant that, for what started out as Orochi Leafcaller in artifact format, these designs are getting more and more convoluted and inelegant.

That, my good man, is groovy. Probably a little overpowered. It's not often you need 4 mana worth of fixing, and such cheap and effective fixing shouldn't come so easy to anything other than Green.
Prismatic Orb

You may spend mana as though it were mana of any color.
I'm a fan of this version because unlike the original it doesn't filter mana from Vedalken Engineer or technically Soldevi Machinist too and turn artifact-only mana into mana for any color and any purpose. Anyway, I think 5 could be too much, I'd go 4. At 3 it steps on the heels of Sunglasses of Urza, not that anyone would use that if it were still around though.
Occasionally a very interesting card can be made simply by taking an existing card and completely reversing just one thing on it. For example, from the printed wording of North Star:
T: You may cast one spell this turn by paying its casting cost with any type of mana. For example, 2GG becomes 4. However, the card still retains its original color. This ability is played as an interrupt.
The bold text is essentially just reminder text, but it is the seed of a new idea...
Guiding Star4
Artifact (R)
Once each turn, you may choose to spend mana as though it were mana of any color to cast a spell. If you do, that spell is the color of each color of mana spent to cast it until you cast another spell this way.
The wording is probably off a little, but the idea is for this to allow you to cast, for example, Doom Blade for RG as a red green spell targeting a White Knight. Rules-wise you do announce intentions to pay costs before choosing targets, so this should work okay even though it is a little odd.
Similarly, you could cast Prodigal Pyromancer for UUU and it would be a nice new Prodigal Sorcerer until you cast another spell this way, at which point it reverts to it original colors. This is a wonky duration, but it should be simple enough to keep track of the most recent permanent cast like this.
The problem is that you choose targets then pay costs, so you couldn't target the White Knight with Doom Blade. Before you pay the mana Doom Blade is black, thus can't target whitey.

I'm not convinced that twice per turn is all that different from if you could activated it ad nauseum, and you get to filter Vedalken Engineer to real mana. I see this as a step backward from the original, or to be more precise from Scuirimancer's deciphering of the first post.

5 might be a little bit too much by modern standards, but otherwise it sounds good. It doesn't necessarily have to be mythic, either.
