The challenge in January was: Take any card and alter it in any physical way you like (this includes 3d alters, painted alters, scratch/inked/relief alters, etc.) The only restriction you have is that you must develope your piece inside the guidelines provided by the Abstractionism.

Alright, with a little delay we finally have the results for January online. The assignment to produce an abstract alter of a card caused some confusion and was interpreted very differently, not always meeting the requirements we were looking for. Hence we will see some of the entries we received for January in the February contest results instead.
All in all, we have 5 entries competing to take the trophy for January - let's find out who is going to win. Here are the entries
I really dig what Aeontropy and closetvictorian did. The grunginess of the Mortify is beautiful. I like how that one blue orb keeps pulling my eye in the Structural Collapse. In the end I went with Aeontropy's piece.
They're all quite good, although as far as abstraction goes, only a couple really seem to fit the bill. That Doom Blade and the Mortify are both really good entries, and I really like the style of both of them. It's a tough call, so I ended up giving it to Aeontropy, as it feels the most abstract.
First stop: Abstractionism
