I'm currently sunbleaching some Mercadian Masques Brainstorms. I was wondering what have you sunbleached and how did it turn out?
If you have experience with this what cards could you recommend doing this to? I already put them in penny sleeved tapped up in top loaders to prevent moisture. Any help is appreciated.
Pictures of you cards would be awesome!

I am by no means an expert, I have tried this out on ~10 cards and just don't like the feel of them.
I don't know that I can really answer any of your questions too well, but this thread looked sad with no replies...
My only advice is to make sure you don't need the cards, I taped these swamps to my window for probably 8 months to a year? (But to be honest, I forgot they were there...)
I put a Force of Will out for about 6 weeks and nothing happened. I suspect that if you want to do this living in Arizona puts you at an advantage over me.
I live in a small town and it isn't easy to find cards, specially pre-Lorwyn ones. I always wanted to make a sun bleached playset of Krosan Grip (bleaching the disintegration side), but wasn't able to find the cards (neither the climate helps around here). If I get to do it, I'll share (it would be cool if somebody else that's interested on this idea does it and shares too). I bet it would look really cool!
So... my question is. How did you do it? Mainly curious. I'm sure others would be interested in knowing. y'know almost a year later. I'm glad you remembered to post the results.
For instance, did you leave them out doors or did you place them inside against a window? I'm asking because some windows are UV protecting and I'm curious on if that affects it (which im sure it does). If outdoors, how did you keep the moisture out? I'm sure being in AZ helps with the moisture aspect but I'd suspect you'd get fog and what not, right?
When I do this I don't put them outside. I live in Texas and I'm pretty sure they would warp. I leave them inside, in sleeves in a window, so they don't get as much sun as they would if, say, I put them on the roof. But they're also not soggy. It took me about 8 months to make these, but they're totally worth it.
Can anyone who has done this leave a short "how-to" here? Do you just put it in a window in a sleeve? does the sleeve matter? how long does it take/where do you live?

Some have said how they do it: Sleeve in a window, sealed (melted) toploader outside, and Sealed penny sleeve in a sealed toploader. The main issue is keeping moisture out if these are being kept outdoors. As well as keeping the container it is in from browning under the sun. The idea of placing the cards between non-UV protecting panes of glass and sealing the glass panes is an interesting idea. The amount of time required is really dependent on how much UV protection the items have. It seems that no matter what, this process can take a few months anyways.

I have no good windows in my apartment and didn't want to put them in my car... Anyway, I tried it out. Left them up for a year (366 days actually). Angel's Grace is a weird one cause the only thing that faded was the rarity symbol (looks like an uncommon now).
There were some people asking about how to do it, as I said in my first post I am no expert but this may be helpful. Figure out where you are going to put them first off. I would suggest an east/west facing window (never tried putting them outside, I get way too much rain/dew/moisture). Put the card in a toploader and tape the top shut so that no moisture can get in. If you are putting it in a window with metallic (or reflective blinds) then put it in an opaque sleeve so that the back does not get faded. Have patience, for me it takes about 8 months (longer in this new apartment) and obviously the longer you leave it up the more faded it can get.
Basically what I think is going on here is the Yellow and Magenta ink are breaking down leaving only the Black and Cyan. You can simulate the appearance by converting a card image to CMYK representation then deleting the sections of Yellow and Magenta where the card is to be bleached. Attached is a simulation of the Krosan Grip done above, and it looks very similar so I expect the simulation is pretty accurate to the result of long term exposure. Hopefully this will help anyone who does not want to risk their cards before knowing what it will look like.
(I used Gimp with Separate+ plugin to convert to CMYK representation)
I decided to carry out the experiment on some scrap from another project. After several months in a clear sleeve in my window, all of the red ink has broken down. It looks like a white card but with slightly more yellow. The clear card sleeve disintigrated, making the card smell like burnt plastic (this is probably related to the card being foil because some normal cards next to it have not caused the sleeve to disintigrate). This is pretty exciting for the drastic change in color (red is so lucky), but the disintigration and smell is worrysome. Perhaps it could be avoided if the sleeve were changed out several times during the process. Another possibility is that the smell is from the card itself and simply unavoidable.

Great to see someone did what I wanted to do (and never did). It looks great and, as MazeTemporal pointed out, I bet that the contrast in both sides would have increased by extending the exposure. Great job, dude! (I'll use that image for an article I'm writting for a friend's page -and u'll be credited, of course-)

Has anyone tested if this works on foils?
