I found the gold starfield background in RoblinTheGoblin's PRO M15 V 1.3 Template from Kentu's stash and the path is "Kentu" Shared Files -> Templates -> Post 8th -> Exclusively Here.
Can't find the artifact one unfortunately.
Thank you for digging through the templates to find this needle. It was buried very deeply in RoblinTheGoblin's template.
Unfortunately, it is a comparatively lo-res scan. It looks odd when blown up to my frame size. However, it has given me some ideas in terms of trying gold tinting a white starfield.
If it helps, I can share what I did for this, but mind you it's made from scratch and it's not 100% faithful
Perfect! I will try to adapt your starfield pattern or, alternatively, your artifact color selection to tint a white starfield. Thank you!
So my next goal on my template is to implement specialty frame/borders. I think I have enough to adapt the Theros block enchantment frame, the Miracles sorcery/instant frame, Expedition land frame, and maybe the Inventions frame onto my minimalist template. I'm brainstorming how to implement levelup & flip cards. Is there any other official specialty frame/border I missed?
So recently Isharton on r/magictcg shared some Black Lotus fanart. I made a quick and dirty full-art masterpiece of it.
Great Sharing !!!! Thanks a lot. But may I then ask :
1/What textures are you using for the title bars and also the frame of the MasterPiece( it seems that you have use two different texture to make the frame layers here. One beneath is a wooden like texture and the other one above is just not sure to me......Would you point them out please? or even better , share that texture with me please?
2/What are the settings you use to create the 3D like outlook effect of those frames ( for e.g. bevel settings, shadow settings ,etc )? I just can't figure them out......
3/Any chance you would share your Custom Template formerly shown in this thread please? (I think you know what I mean ^__^ )
finally, just forgive me for my poor english writing please as it is not my mother tongue.
Thank You Very Much!!!
Happy New Year for you all fellow members here!!!!!
Happy Digital Rendering!!!!!
1) The upper texture is a recolored version of this, I think: http://www.deviantart.com/art/Texture-71-Gold-62136835
1.5) The lower texture is generic wood texture that I can't find anymore!
2) The layer style I used is:
3) I'm still working on converting it to Photoshop format! It's a bit of a struggle.

I made small adjustments to the Level Up settings to render Lord of Shatterskull Pass and Hedron-Field Purists]. Took about 30 minutes to adjust the tinted triplet boxes (now they are squares) to accomodate any realistically likely amount of text (the official frames cannot squeeze any more than I have).
The art on the second card is pretty bad. If I had more time, I would fix it later.
Speaking of time, I need to get back to you about the Split & Fuse later. They are much more complicated overhauls.
I'm going to leave Flip as is. You can put more lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig.
So I'm trying to build a "Nyx Masterpiece" full-art frame inspired by the KLD masterpieces. Here's appx. the second draft. I'd love your critiques on it. Especially, what do you think we can do about the textbox? I think it needs a texture instead of just a slight gradient but I'm not sure what kind of texture would be appropriate.

This texture is really really nice. Would you be so kind as to share this "Nyx Masterpiece Frame" template please?
My take on the "Nix masterpiece" is that the frame show emphasize the enchantment aspect. Enchantment to me means the glowing stars motif you used on the frame edges. As applied to the text box, that glow should be diffused (gaussian-blurred?) and translucent. I did a quick a dirty test to illustrate the idea:
I cut/pasted a bunch of the frame edges together and applied gaussian blurring and translucency. I think blurred it too much, but the translucentcy (50%) is about right.
As a side note, I sense the direction of masterpiece frames as becoming specific frames being tied to each card type. We already have Expeditions for land and Inventions for artifacts. However, I note that these frames are color-independent (even the differently colored gearhulks use the same frame, if not the color pipings). So if you adapt Nix design as a masterpiece frame, maybe you want to consider a color neutral version (something a composite of all five colors of the Nix frame?).
P.S. On the idea of a card type frame, what do people thing an "instant" or "sorcery" frame should look like?
Thanks for the feedback, petercal. I thought about what you said and re-tinted the frame violet and designed new title/type twins for it, as well as styling the textbox. I think it's pretty solid at this point!
So far the masterpiece frames have both been tied to planes and I expect that's what we'll see going forward; maybe the 'instant or sorcery' frame could be connected to Vryn or something.
@HolyProxyBatman: Funny art. The only thing strange is that font used for the 'Battlion' keyword. For consistency, why isn't 'Haste' also in that font?
@willows: Great use of the purple. That brings back memories of Alliances. However, I'm curious about how that shade may look with the other four colors. Also, the translucent starfield fade in the text box is a great idea.
Your comment about masterpiece frames as being tied to planes got me thinking. The idea of alt-frame masterpiece may actually have been tried in Planar Chaos. There, different frames are used to reflect time. If we ever return to Dominaria, perhaps we may discover that there are still leftover pockets of temporary anomalies. These anomalies could have masterpiece Instant effects. I think a MC Escher-type texture (where one shape morphs into another) for the frame can capture this feel. Here are some examples of geometric textures to show what I mean:
Alternatively, perhaps a fractal texture can represent the chaos effect of an Instant. Sadly, I'm not quite there yet in my graphic manipulation skills to do it right.
I trying to come up with a less-ornamental "Fuse" frame. My original implementation:
After adjustments to make the frame more consistent with my existing style (info bar on left & card ID stuff on bottom), I came up with this so far:
The problem is, what do I do with that big empty space between the two cards that isn't purely ornamental and is language-independant (I don't want a graphical English "FUSE")? Any ideas for a minimalists approach?
You should know that "Beck" cost GU and draws the cards and "Call" costs 4WU and makes the bird tokens. They are on incorrect sides and have wrong costs.
I am currently working on a proxied modern gauntlet and thanks to petercal I now have a template for the infect deck. Im posting all that I have so far as a way to give back and show my thanks for this fantastic template.
Thanx everyone for their comments re: Fuse frame. I ended up with something very simple, similar to what was on the original fuse cards.
Now it is fairly obvious which card frame is Fuse and which card frame is merely Split. In keeping with my minimalist principle, I'm not writing out the parenthetical italics rules. Keyword alone should be enough.
@Zarthbenn: Wow! Nice work on the infect deck. Too bad with its speed you are not going to be able to show off the full deck before your opponent dies. BTW, what's your full deck list numbers?
If you're interested, I just started on a modern colorless affinity tron deck. Deck is based on this old list.
So far I have done these cards:
However, I'm not sure how to update the deck and the work has stalled.
You interested in finishing the deck? Send me PM & I can provide you what I have done so far.

Can you ID them all?
There are four designs I came up with to deal with a few of Wizard's crazier frame ideas:
The last one is truly hideous, but so is the official version.
So I like to get some critique on improving these specialty frames/borders.
I appreciate any input/feedback.
Thank you for your detailed critique.

OMG, can somebody tell me what template is this??
I love it!

I like how the fuse template turned out, good job on that
