Amazingly well done. I have to ask, what size brush do you use for the fine detail? My smallest is a 20/0, and I don't think it would do that small of detail. Then again, it could just be the person behind the brush.
I think you are mean Hydrogen Oxide.
Dihydrogen Monoxide would look like this: H-H-O.
While Hydrogen Oxide, also known as water, looks like this: H-O-H.
no he's talking about the smog layer. It's pretty bad there but thank you for the Chemistry Lecture
You are right about what the suffixes mean. But water is composed of two ions, H+ and OH-. The name comes from how the ions of the compound bond together. So we have Hydrogen (H+) and Oxide (OH-) forming Hydrogen Oxide.
At the same time, you are right too because that can refer to water. But water is hydrogen bonded to oxygen bonded to hydrogen (H-O-H or HOH). The way you said it can refer to hydrggen bonded to hydrogen bonded to oxygen (H-H-O or HHO).
This is just useless information unless you are a science major in college though... which is the ONLY reason I know lol.
This is false. The nomenclature of inorganic molecules isn't based on their order, just on their chemical compositions. Dihydrogen Monoxide would be the right name for water. (OH-) is called hydroxide, not just oxide. Also I don't think you have much of a career in chemistry with that last sentence lol. H-H-O could absolutely never occur as a molecule. Hydrogens can only have one bond.
Had another shot at the scoria cat; Also, the mess on the red border is from erasing the ink that was on there previously, I was afraid to remove it further. I feel like the new paint is still too vibrant, the colors too rich, but maybe it's just me. Also, do you guys remove the glossy layer from the art if you're going to keep the original art, or do you just paint onto it?
I've been admiring the art on here for a while, and finally decided to try some of my own, a playset of Wild Nacatls. My camera sucks, but feedback other than that?

You are incredibly wrong. Water is composed of two ions, Hydronium (H+) and Hydroxide (OH-). Dihydrogen Monoxide is water, which is an Oxygen atom bonded to two Hydrogen atoms. A hydrogen atom can't be bonded to more than one atom, so it can't be, as you said, H bonded to H bonded to O.
That's the nicest TheCardKings alter I've seen yet. Some of the paint is still a little rough around the cost/name/type boxes, which some simple toothpick work would clean up really easy. Great coloring though, nice alter overall.
I think it's extremely deceptive and misleading to the magic community that all your auctions say "This card is tournament legal."
It pretty much says a lot about what kind of person you are, you're just out to make a buck off the players even if it means putting them in a situation where they may be forced to remove the altered cards from their decks at an event. I know I've addressed this issue with you in the past, so it really does illustrate the poor ethic here.
As for myself and I assume most other artists here, I strive to provide the best quality alters in addition to informed consent to my valued customers. What one new alter fan sees in your auction listings might reverberate into our legitimate efforts.
Just to play the devil's advocate: the tournament legality Sandrameals is refering to is the same legality that Wizards refers to whenever they put out a premium product- that the product is a real card and is playable in the any format in which it is not banned. It has nothing to do with the painted aspect of the card, but the genuineness (which turns out to be a real word that happend to be harder to say than authenticity).
That being said, that choice of wordings could lead to some very sad panda's come PTQ time and someone doesn't have an extra Jace or two when head judge brings down the ban-hammer for lack of a black border or something.

I honestly can't see how it would effect me one way or another. It isn't my reputation at stake, and I don't think I really care what other people write as long as it isn't defamatory or something. My own disclaimer says something to the effect of "Check with a judge first, but I have never heard of any of my cards being a problem." But that's for me and my relationship with the people who buy my cards.
You may be totally right and your disgust/irritation is warranted, but I don't see why you are so upset with this particular person?

No, it's actually completely different. Wotc's "tournament legal" line addresses the format legality question. It means to say that the card is legal in whichever format it's legal in, which may or may not include standard.
Saying altered cards are tournament legal is questionable at best, since their legality depends on a judge's mood of the day.
Bottom line, if you bring a FTV berserk to any legacy/vintage tourney, it WILL be legal. If you bring an altered berserk to the same tourney, it might OR might not be legal.
just for the record. I actually play a lot of magic. I consider myself a player. all my decks are altered out or foiled. play lots of ptqs and starcity 5ks and have not had a problem with the judges and have not had to remove and replace cards.
but yeah. i rock.
i'm sorry you don't like me cardkitty. i'm not going to try to live up to your expectations though. you are you, and I am I. The alterd cards i sell are fully playable in a sleeve, and tournament legal.
@dakes - the highborn is interesting and nicely done, but one thing I've been wondering about this type of alter (in general) is that, why extend the art full card if you aren't adding anything to the what is already there? The original art (top half) is very detailed and interesting, then the bottom half is just blurred colors. While it works on one hand, it also seems kind of pointless unless you are going to use the same style and detail of the original art for the entire piece. Know what I mean? I guess it is something to think about and perhaps try on future alters. It's like the baneslayer with the planets added to the bottom- there is good reason to remove the text box b/c something really cool is added to the card for completeness. I've seen baneslayers with the text box removed, the drapery of the angel extended and then just black for the rest of the card; it was cool but boring compared to what could be there.
@poxy14- come on man, you are making the rest of us look bad! While I really enjoy all of your new art replacing the original art, I'd like to see you use the original art- extend it, alter it, add to it.. like adding new characters to interact with what is already there, or changing the colors and details of exisiting characters; like adding predator armor/mask/etc. to a planeswalker or something of the such. Just a suggestion

Wasn't the first comment a joke referring to this? From what I hear, it's a huge environmental problem.

A playset order for a online contest thingy.
And because "it isn't wasn't blackbordered" is apparently good EDH reasoning :D...

@ clintmccool: Sweet playset. I like the dark coloring. That's really strong work for your first alters.
