@4HM: Understandable friend. I still think they are amazing...watching on the auction site as I won't be able to top the price (yea...I think they're gonna be huge). Seriously though? If I won them, I might have had to frame them.
@ thefourhorsemen - When I saw those terminates, all words were lost. You are the best on this thread imo. I always look forward to seeing your work!

Those are some great Bloodbraid Elves back there. Are we supposed to vote on them or something? If so, where is blake gets mine.
I would have liked to enter, but I couldn't think of anything. Of course, now I've got an idea...
Because my nickname for BloodBraid ELf is Bubbles...? And Bituminous Blast is Bibbles. Yeah, I'm terrible, I know.
Also, I gotta say that I love that Bounty Hunter. It's all great, but the helmet especially is amazing.
Anyway, more cards!

3 down, 1 to go! (I don't much like Ajani.)
The next two were more just quickies, so I wasn't too careful on them.
Cloudstone Curio
Get it, because it makes things bounce? Yeeeeaaaah.
Fallen Angel
I have fond memories of sac'ing rats to these guys. Decided to tip the hat to Anson Maddocks' version, because it's my favorite. I've only got 7th ed ones, and they are pretty terrible.
EDIT: PocketDimension, that's probably a bit more work than I wanted to put into it (I'd actually packed most of my paints up). But it's not a bad idea; I'll keep it in mind if I decide to alter my other Curio.
Hello everybody. My first post on here. Ive been sketching ideas for card modification and for my first project i've started modding basic land. Attached is the prototypes that still need work. I plan on showing them to friends at the card shop to see what people think.
I've definitely decided for the top bar version as it looks the best and does not interfere with the stencil.
I used silver spray paint after taping off the bars, then stenciled with colored spray paint the symbols. I bought a can of Rust-Oleum 'Painters Touch' Ultra Cover Gloss Clear. It did not work well which could have been a result of very windy conditions, even in the garage. I'm overall pretty pleased with how they turned out so far and i'd like some feedback
(mountains were stenciled upside down)
Thanks!

So much time, energy, love, and money for.. cardboard. It's a love-hate relationship.
Those are a pretty nice idea, though i would try to make them crisper, the outlines around the mana symbols are just too rough imo. Plus, I would ditch the middle bar and keep the top one. But overall nice idea!
@PnP
Jeez, how do you people come up with those idea's?! I've been stuck here with an erased BBE trying to come up with an idea... and failed... dunno how you do it. At all.

You might want to look into an air brush for this project. Spray paint looks a little sloppy as seen in your prototypes. Might be a better way to stencil to get cleaner lines with paint as well.
Awesome PnP guys, it get's better every time! can't wait to see the crypts.
@Minmin: Angel looks awesome! I'm suprised no one's tried that one before...
@madcivet: A couple of suggestiions for you for the spray painting. When taping off your title blocks use removable scotch tape and use a knife and ruler to cut away excess tape, that way you'll get much cleaner edges. It looks like the silver bled through your colours in a few places, let them get bone dry before you re-coat any you can avoid that. Lastly when working whith stencils I find it works best to do a couple light coats instead of one thick coat as you will get less paint bleeding under the stencil.

The stencils had a little bend to them that allowed paint underneath. Is there anyway to avoid this other than temporarily sticking it to the card somehow?

Personally I like using heavier (.007) acetate to make my stencils and then if it's really important that they be tight, I mount them on a heavy cardboard frame. That way you can have some weight pushing down on the stencil. And finally, the aerosol spray flips up stencils pretty bad if you spray too close, so you want to back away and waste a ton of paint. It sucks, but letting a mist of paint float onto the card is going to give you the best results.
@ Bigup - I cant see the images for the PNP or your recent works.....and also, I cant see anything on your photo bucket page!!! I can see everyones work but yours. I have checked my Security settings and script blockers to no avail? I would love to see 'em.

madcivet: Sorry man but I dont like the silver background and I realy dont like the "basic land - XXX" in the middle.
yeah I dont like the middle bar either. as soon as they were done i decided to go with the top bar. These were just prototypes i was testing. i may mess around with black backgrounds as well and just use white skulls for the swamps. Thanks for the feedback

Yea, it's possible, just work very lightly with the paint can, just kind of "mist it" on if you know what I mean... do a few light coats like that and it shouldn't bleed.

Any chance you can sneak in some clouds with eyes and/or fluffy 8-bit clouds?
I do inexpensive, quality commissions.
PM if interested.

WUBRGPauper Battle BoxWUBRG ... and why I am not a fan of Wayne Reynolds' Illustrations.
I may have to try some non-spraypaint versions.
According to this study I should be deaf by now.

It shouldn't be "is put into the graveyard from the battlefield"
It should be "is put into the graveyard from play"

the spraypaint technique is innovative, but this is the first one that really makes good use of it.
