Ffff you're right. I overlaid Aleksi's original over it, and the kneecap thing is just a tad too low. Now that's going to bug me forever; I may have to change that.
And I like to think of Lash Out as having Scry 1 instead of clash. In fact, that's how I view most clash cards.
Has everyone started practicing their Admiral Ackbar art? Because we all know that as soon as a sweet trap card is printed, there's going to be a barrage of commissions with our favorite Mon Calamari (short of Ibtisam, I suppose) shouting that epic line all over the card face:
@yawg- Yeah, the Lash Out was actually just an experiment with erasing the card art, so you can understand why I did it on a crappy card It was also done at the behest of my companion magic card player, who hated the original art, so I figured I'd play around with it and turn it into something he'd actually want to see in his deck
He loves it, but now he doesn't have a deck to run it in
Either way, I think it turned out good for an experiment (better than I expected) so I'm happy with the outcome

I refuse to do any Ackbar art for Trap cards. Instead, I will be practicing my Crying Game art for those.

Personally I'm super, super excited about altering trap cards.
Been AFK for a while on business....good to be back...
@ fourhoursemen - I love the X-23, she is remarkable, the drop shadow is perfect ( she is one of my fav characters ). Also your gangsta cancel encouraged me to do one of my own for an EDH deck. I threw a red bandana on mine though, for a little rivalry ( also digitally altered the F-word for the thread )
@ V - Those are purely amazing, I always loved the Mishra's factory seasons. Those are just full of win.
@Galspanic - The Vol looks pretty awesome, and I always thought they were eggs
@ Cardkitty - I have seen alot of Sol Rings done with the Eye, But putting Sauron in the foreground like that is epic ( especially with the ring so dominant ). Wish I could find a DCI Sol-Ring, need one for my MBC casual.
@ Yawg - The Liliana is BEAUTIFUL. Leaving the border like that makes it seem more like a portrait than anything. Just beautiful.
Also, I attached some cards, the Cancel mentioned above, a quickie bolt and a Wild Nacatl done for a friends EDH.
Will be posting a Strip Mine for my Cube soon.

My Altered Cards.
I do inexpensive, quality commissions.
PM if interested.
@ Hyper: I'm sorry but those are all pretty bad EDH cards. The alterations could use some work as well. The colors are pretty flat on the Nacatl and the straight edge of the foliage seems pretty odd. As an aside, it seems weird to just completely copy someone else's creative alter, even if it's for your own deck. (Maybe paint it, but don't post it?)
@ Galspanic: You were doing some awesome work before. Don't fall into the trap of boring old extended arts. There's enough of those out there already. Not that they aren't good, but your talents would be better spent creating something unique.
@ Masamune: Nice work as always. I love how free and loose those feel. That's the kind of quality I would like to bring into my own stuff, but it always falls short.

I'm still doing some "new" artwork, but I needed to figure out a way to pay for the hobby before too long. On ebay, my extensions/full arts have been selling for $5-$30 more than the card alone goes for. And the "new" paintings have sold for $.50-$1.50 more than the cost of the card. So, that didn't make sense financially, but I promise I am still working on them. I have a ton of ideas, but the pressure is to finish the ones that pay for my Magic tournaments and drafts is just a bit more intense.
Thanks, I had a lot of debate with some local players about what 4 items to choose. One's that were cut: Phyrexian Dreadnough (too much work) and Mana Crypt (too hard to represent), runners up were Voltaic Key and Executioner's Capsule.
Wow @ all of them. Can't see where ur alering start and where it ends on mishras picture.
the "stolen" idea works really good on shrekmaw. want more cards like that.
the chase/chandra pair is a very good idea to combine those artworks.
One game reference. I've been longing to do this alter for a very long time and when I finally got round to it I suddenly remembered that I'd drempt doing it that morning.
Here it is, identical to how it turned out in my dream...
I'm really enjoying your alters... one of the best newer artists on this thread.
@ Helltroll:
The alter concepts are good, but the paint looks a bit thick, and the color-matching is off. Great job for the first few alters... work on reducing the amount of paint and smoothing out the brushstrokes. Also, you may want to invest in a thinner brush for your signature.
I love the fact you just copy and pasted my eBay auction terms into yours.
That's pretty funny, but the thievery I have seen here and on ebay is ten times worse. You should just be happy that it was only your disclaimer and not anything more (like your design and concept, that crap drives me nuts!).

It's just funny because I worded my listing kinda of strange and it's so easy to see when someone copies it.
For example, taken from my listings: This card is fully playable in a sleeve!
and
Please note that this card is not a printed counterfeit nor a replica card. The card is 100% authentic and has merely been painted on!
It just irks me that some are not smart enough to write and communicate information on their own. But I guess I can't blame people for being stupid or illiterate.

Being stupid and illiterate is something I've been trying to grow out of for the last 9 years. I find it easier to copy/paste words from all around the internet than actually typing the phrases I mean to say out on my own.
It's understandable blue control players would be shocked and in denial at the notion of this card, since their decks have been dominating multiple formats for an eternity yet they've curiously never once had to deal with any counter-hosers that weren't ineffectual, narrow CRAP.
I guess I'm gonna have to be the first to say that this guy's arms look really weird from at least the elbow down. I don't know anyone whose arms look like that. It's unfortunate because the rest of the alter looks really nice but incorrectly rendered anatomy is highly distracting IMO.

Altered Cards! Crafts and Stuff!
Simply the best alters I've seen on this thread, the execution, the idea, the power of the cards creates an awesome package. Brilliant!

Wish my scanner wasn't crap though(central blackish mark across "Pay 1 life" is due to scanner, not paint; that and general light/texture mixes)
