I'm thinking about altering one of my Green Sun's Zenith but i don't have any idea what i should do with it. I already saw Klug's Green Lantern, but i'm not that much into comics. Wish you guys could give me some idea
I was just wondering about perhaps using chalk pastels to alter cards. I don't have acrylic paints on-hand, and I don't want to spend too much money as altering is something I just want to try. I've seen people use Sharpies and even pencil crayons for altering. Do these work out okay generally? Would pastels be possible?
I've been looking for this for a while... can anyone direct me to (as high a resolution as possible) a nice image of Koth as depicted on the Scars fat pack?

My brother has an Uril the Miststalker EDH deck and I wanted to get it altered into Smoke from Mortal Kombat. (since Uril is somewhat disappearing into the mist/smoke)
I know someone that could do it for me but I don't really know what the best way to go about it would be.
I was thinking something like turning the frame hazy and having smoke standing where Uril is Standing.
But I'm not that creative, so thats why I'm here. Does anyone have any good suggestions??
Thanks!
My girlfriend birthday is coming and I would like to do a 3D magic card as part of her present. Any one got ideas of cards (cute~girly) that got a cool artwork to do it?
It would be better to be a common and from new sets card (modern~up), cause I want to do a lot of layers and be able to mess up a lot of cards in the process (as my hands aren't that good with doing 3d-art yet).
Thx for the help! I'll post a pic as soon as it's done
Sorry for the lame english.
Phelddagrif - rare but cheap... Prized Unicorn - uncommon... Birds of Paradise - the 2012 version. Sacred Wolf - not necessarily girly, but cool and not too complicated to do 3D. <---this is the one I'd probably recommend.
I think those are cute/girly pictures. How much did you want to spend on this project?

Here in brasil, up to R$50, what is about $23. Sacred wolf sounds really cool. I found Bear Cub the old one, but only 6 of them. I would like to be able to have some copys for backup, in case i mess up any layer :X
Brass squire is really cool, and found 30 of them at the store I buy online for 5 cents each. Bought 30 :P. I'll close my order tonight, if I don't find any other cool card. Thx so far guys
How do you blank a non foil magic card? I'm wanting to print up some proxies and I don't want to always use foils because the dark artwork doesn't show through. I'm hoping a non foil magic card will work. Any thoughts or ideas? I got this idea from the Cube Forum's proxy thread.
I am interested in contacting some magic artists, but have never done it before. Do you know of an easy way to get in touch with Jana Schirmer and Johannes Voss?
You can post messages there, although I don't know if he actually reads them (some DA artists just ignore messages altogether, since they potentially receive hundred a day). Sending a note might work better, because that causes a pop up and has to be manually deleted.
I believe Voss shares that account with another MTG artist, but I can't remember who.
Ultimately you have to find your own way of doing it. In the Tutorial Thread there is a whole "getting started" thread that I think is pretty useful. The most common tips I see are:
*Water down your paints and work in thin layers.
*Use good quality paints. They are better to work with and go forever.
*Have realistic expectations when you start out - don't get discouraged if if doesn't work the way you want it to.
*Ask questions of a technical nature in the big altered art thread. People like to talk about what they are doing.
I use $4-$5 watercolor brushes but they don't tend to last long. Control for durability I guess
Can anyone who uses permanent pens on their alters suggest some to me that can be ordered online? I'm looking for .1mm and .3mm, permanent ones that won't dissolve in water. I found a few, but they are brands I haven't used before and shipping was outrageous (8 dollars to ship a pen?!)
Any suggestions really appreciated.

What I want to do is paint the full card minus the art say all black for a swamp and so on. I tried searching for the rules and was hoping I could get this cleared up. If I paint the boarder is it no longer legal? Even looking at the WoTC website it wasn't completely clear on that. It seemed as long as the original art was not altered to much and the card was still recognizable then it was all good but really up to a judges final decision. No confusing game state it seemed.
Do I need to leave Swamp/Island and so on visible? Can I cover up the text or mana symbol and be good? Sorry for the noob question

The king of Yavimaya's waters pays constant attention to his subjects . . . and thrives on their adulation.
is anyone finding that it is easier to erase older cards than it is to erase new cards? i was erasing the art from a commander version of hex and almost used half an eraser to remove the art where as removing the art from something like an odyssey seafloor debris didn't take much time or use much of the eraser. what im asking is whether the cards get easier to erase over time or is wizards using different inks for newer cards making it harder to erase them?
I was experimenting with some acetone and cards earlier today and blanked about six of them (destroyed about four), this is enough for a sheet of printouts and I figured that I would make some proxies/tokens. Here are my questions:
1) Is there some sort of software that lets you design custom cards/art and print out the result? I know a guy who makes proxies and he mentioned that this is how he did it.
2) Is there a way to get the foil to stay on a new card face? I was able to wipe ink off an old foil, but not new ones. When I peeled the foil off, it either took the whole thing (leaving a white card) or stripes of foil.
3) What types of tape will peel off of a card without damaging it? I'd like to blank a few lands but leave the mana symbol in tact, and I'd like to blank just the art on a few cards.

I want to know what kind of altering materials, painting colors do you guys use O_o?...
And are those watercolor brushes be able to paint them?
I would try to get them at currys artwork materials, does anyone knows that place and do they sell them?
