I was planning on doing it after I make quite a bit once im out of school (upon graduation ill be managing ~10 mil in assets), and retiring.

-THIS IS JUST A LIST- Stax, Sapphire Tri, Set Abominae, {mikeyG}, nan, glurman, JollyTheOctopuss, Sakura, Mad Mat, Johnation, Cell, Goatchunx, VerzenChaos, DarkPhoenix, EvilDuck, echelon_house
if you want a cool mtg tattoo, do yawgmoth's symbol... (google "the thran", its one of the preview pages of the book) I want to get that symbol somewhere on me (honestly, once i get outta school and make enough $$ to retire, i want it on my eye)
I already got the symbol tattooed on me (see earlier reply), and it's the symbol of Phyrexia, not Yawgmoth specifically. The symbol of Yawgmoth can be seen here, in an Arcana article.
Very, Very nice. I'm absotiviutly going to get a red mana symbol, possibly on my elbow if the artist thinks it will look good (i've seen a few solid pieces there like stars but I don't know if the abstract would work.). If not, probably on my lower arms, I need to fill out the areas around my arm tats. A large Izzet dragon might look good on my back, but it would have to cover a small piece that's already there and I'm not sure it would work. I also think the Yawgmoth symbol is the awesome, but if you want to be a real nerd, I'd get the Symbol of Kih-Osk from Tintin.

Well, I'll go ahead and say the cliche 'would you want that image on your body for all of your life'?
I'm not saying anything against tattooing, but making sure you know what you want.
If I were to get a Magic affiliated Tattoo I'd get perhaps a certain Mana Symbol or Ravnica Guild symbol. My reasoning is that they are merely symbols, and people have symbols tattooed all the time. It can then be just a tattoo with a cool symbol that you got from Magic. A fireball, skull, drop of water, sun, or tree aren't all that complicated, and it's meaning can remain your little secret.
That's what I'd consider when getting a tattoo.
I think that getting a certain artwork tattooed on your body is kinda odd and quite devoted to a card game. But thats just me I guess.

Waiting patiently for MTGO Leagues to become a priority again. It's been 4 years .
Drop by my Helpdesk if you have any questions/concerns on the Limited forum.
Excited for M13 Limited? What do you think the format will look like? Head over to the limited forum and let us know what you think.
I did it. I have the woman from Enduring Renewal on my right leg.
It hurt like hell, the background has similar designs of the card, but not exact image.
I like it alot, if you didn't play MTG, you'd never know it was from a card.
one of the guys at the shop i used to play at all the time before my work schedule conflicted my magic play schedule has the mana symbols on his forearm.

Yep, that's next. All five. Have the money, I'll do it when I score a new job.
My fireball tat's up on gleemax somewhere, part of the Flickr pics for the ARG last year. Looks like crap since I didn't react well to red, but you'd be surprised, you meet the most random people sporting that tat - otherwise normal dudes will freak out and start talking magic, it's like a Secret Masonic Handshake for nerds!

I would love the red mana symbol around my eye. Like with my eye centered in the main ball and the tail curling up onto my forehead, or something like that. Red is the most awsome mana symbol and reds philosiphy is just me.
But id like to have a job later when i leave school, so i dont think ill do it yet.
I kind of like the idea of a simple B on my shoulder or something. I'm a black mage at heart, and though I think it might look cheesy to most to have a "Skull" on you, I think that between its inherent meaning to us Magic players, and its symbolism on what I play, its kinda cool.
@the puppet master - not. on. the. face. Just trust me on that one. In fact, any artist who would tattoo you on the face doesn't deserve to ink. You have to earn it.
@Masamune - The thing about the skull (or any of the key five) is that they are such iconic symbols that your average person won't think twice - it just looks like a generic tattoo... And then you get your double takes from all the secret Magic nerds and you automatically have something to talk about.

i know im refering back to page 2 but... yes i have read about getting your eye tatood but as far as i know only one person has it and all it does is change the color of the eye. the eye is not solid enough so they put in the ink and it spread around so the whole white area gets covered and unless they changed it his color options were blue or red.
Back when Cavotta was still writing articles, a long time ago he actually did a column on this very topic (picturing the very-same Goblin Piledriver art) and announced a contest asking folks to mail in pictures.
They never announced the winners and never made mention of it again.
My buddy who works in a tat parlor has an AMAZING extended full-back version of Maze of Ith art. By 'extended' I mean the other 3 'missing quadrants' are included. It's quite cool. . I'll try and get a pic..

The five mana symbols are good -- individually or collectively. They are all simple graphic designs that would translate well to a tattoo.
The one problem with the black mana symbol though is that people will think that you are a big Punisher fan, but meh.
From about my senior year of high school to about my sophomore year of college I really wanted this tattoo of two slivers. Never happened, probably for the best. I still have the drawing I made of them though ;).

Listen to my M:tG flavor Podcast: Story Circle! (Newest episode is all about Innistrad previews.)
I hate tattoos. The only tattoo I'd ever consider getting would be a red mana symbol on my shoulder or upper arm. Course, then I'd have to stop hating tattoos long enough to get one. Nothing wrong with admiring others tattoos though.
Necro would be an awful tattoo unless you extended the art. Then it might look awesome. I think I've actually seen someone with Enduring Renewal Lady on their back.
Why stop at one, when you can do a whole deck. My dream back in the day as MUC was my favourite deck:
Morphling across the entire back, force of will and masques counterspell on each shoulder, saga islands around the calves, and top it all off Larry Niven's Disk coming out of the belly button. (Ophidian going into the ear would have been wicked too)
All of which would be freakishly expensive, and i doublt would look good in thirty years time, especially if I had a real falling out with the game.
My main beef with MTG tattoos is that I would be putting a corporate symbol on my skin for life. I suggest custom clothing or jewlery from print shops or jewlers if you just want to show your identification with a particular subculture. If MTG is a large and positve part of your life that you want to remember for all your years then go ahead.
I'd also say avoid the chest, especially if going for art, if it turns out poorly, or you eventually hate it, or your partner doesn't like looking at it during intercourse, it is going to become a big deal.
If you're going to get one, roll over here to Pittsburgh, PA (you're in Ohio, right?). It's seriously worth the trip because Tim Victim, one of the top rated tattoo artists in the country (#3 actually) is here and did an excellent job on my MTG tattoo. He's an awesome guy who doesn't charge much, and does damn good color work. Here's his website and myspace. Check his galleries. www.timvictim.com www.myspace.com/timvictim
the chameleon collaboration is truly an epic work of color. I always hate looking through galleries though as I can never really approximate an artist's talent since so many people get the most retarted tattoos ever. Obviously you can tell when some artists are just better overall than others, but rarely do I look through a gallery and find a tattoo where I can say I like the style. There are some artists like Paul Booth who I can say their attention to detail is amazing, yet overall it seems hard to find a gallery where you don't find like a bunch of tribal bands, koi fish and butterflies.
There are parts of it all over IPA cards... the expansion symbol for Invasion is a small version of it.
Edit - Here, I attached it. I had to go digging for this.
Thank you Topher for the Sig.
