I wasn't sure if this was the right place for this thread, sorry if that's the case.
I know some people have custom playmats and custom life counters, is there any web site that does custom sleeve printing? On that note, are non-major brand name sleeves allowed in sanctioned events?
Basically, I'm looking for custom sleeves for my EDH decks with my general's art on them. If there is a site that does this please let me know.
There is alot of people looking for this but no one currently does, to do it yourself I think you need some kind of speical printer.

I live in the DFW area. I actually know of some printing companies that will do this. There are many downsides though.
1. You have to pay a setup fee for the printing process.
2. You have to realize that during printing, things can become unalligned, so you may have to provide quite a few more sleeves then you are actually getting printing to assure that there are enough when done.
3. It really isnt worth it honestly.
I'm pretty sure the artists don't do the sleeves themselves. They are all made by the normal companies with the artists' work on them.
I have been looking for custom sleeves for 3 years now and I am convinced they simply don't exist. Ultra-pro has ignored my calls and emails. Max Protection blows me off as well. customcardsleeves.com has been "ucoming soon" for years.

This makes sense. I have seen companies than can print anything on about anything, but quality is always a huge issue. And, when you actually plan on physically using them.... boooooo!
yes, yes you would.
Not sure how else you could get them, mayeb kinkos has the right printer:D

I think if there is even a small group of people who are willing to approach a real supplier I think this could actually happen.
I have neither the time nor energy to do much, but if you find someone and can get a good enough deal I would be very interested. I found custom playmats, and I need accompanying sleeves.
I'd go for up to 100. That's the perfect number for EDH, and it's a nice all-around number for cube draft sets.
Edit: Keep in mind that all Magic artwork is copyrighted, and as such it wouldn't be able to be used on sleeves. I know this is common knowledge, but some people do tend to forget that.
Customcardsleeves.com has been in the works forever >< I'm sick of waiting, I need sleeves that tell my opponents to literally go something themselves. ^^
If someone gets professionally made custom sleeves done, i'm down for a cubes worth at least.
Looking to try out a new card site, but need an incentive? Want to buy 2 NM Hallowed Fountains for less than $13 shipped? Send me your email in a PM and I can get you a coupon for $5 off of your first order of $10 or more at cardtitan.com!
I've looked into this a bit, and agree that the market is wide open.
However, I can't imagine going through the all the trouble of printing a set of 100 for less than $50 per order. Not only is it time intensive to produce, but the logistics to make it work and be high quality are astounding. In short, it's much harder than one might suspect.
I guess the real question is to ask whether the market would bear such a price tag?

And yet if you asked $50 for a set of 100 you would have people lining up for those at first. I am telling you, there is a demand and Magic players are notorious for wasting money on pimp garbage. The simple fact that people pay more for foil is my proof. I pay $50 for a custom playmat, why not $50 for sleeves too? And if you could get me 300 for $60 (since the set up fee is the bulk of it), I would do that today.
The copyright thing really wouldn't be much of a problem if you could contact each respective custom artist.
Say, You have the technology and the manpower/supplies to make these custom sleeves, so you ask the customers to supply you with the artists name, Offer the respective artist a respectable amount money to cover royalties, And Print custom sleeves at about $80 For a Custom Set of 120 sleeves, giving people with EDH decks, 100 for their EDH deck, 20 backup sleeves. Or people who just want to have a few decks sleeved up, 2 full decks is their choice art.
Then the breakdown could run, $20 to cover the artist, $40 for Base Fee's and Printing Costs, and $20 profit.

I agree with Ravarshi. You would definitely want to order 120 custom sleeves or so for an EDH deck. If you don't get extra, then once one sleeve breaks, the other 99 become useless for EDH. If you were to decide at that point to order more copies of the same custom sleeve to replace the damaged ones, there's no guarantee that the color or alignment will exactly match the originals, making them useless. You need to order enough backups from the get go to last the entire life of the deck.
The major problem here is'nt the printing of the sleeves or if there's a market, I think everyone agrees there is one there. And more than enough people have mentioned you can get printers that will produce sleeves at home or there is the better option of appraoching a professional printer, heck you can even get home use screen printing machines now adays. The biggest problem is the art. As mentioned all art unless produced by yourself or the client who wants the sleeves made is copy righted and you will need the artists promission to use it, as with out it your open to law suits as well as issues even having the printing done. However its not an issue to get premission, speaking as a professional artist, i know from first hand experience that we will jump at the chance to make money however we dont always own the copy right to a peice. Alot of the times if its commissioned work copy right goes to the client, this is actually a big issue in the artistic community. So even contacting the artist isnt likely to be helpful in getting permission to use art. Even if it is i can tell you the liklihood of an artist giving permission for such a small amount, as you are looking at charging between 50-80 dollars for a set, is very poor. Big companies get away with offering such small amounts per set for royalities only because they produce so many. frankly offering such small amounts is not going to make any well known artist take you seriously, which is the reall issue with getting a business like this started.
I'm not completely sure, but I'd think Wizards owns the rights to the artwork on the cards. Maybe not 100% of the rights, but more than none. So you'd need permission and legal agreements from both. And I wouldn't think this would be an opportunity Wizards would jump at. I'm sure you could get a couple representatives to agree, but the majority would probably ignore it and it would get lost in the red tape.

I can make this happen if it's profitable. Custom work is never cheap since you can't mass produce.
If people would pay the price, I would definitely try it out.

I'd happily commision this.
By the way what kind of printer is it?

I've also made over 95 bucks on this site since I started on 11/24/09. Give it a try!
