Hello, hello, hello to you all. After watching this contest for months, assuming it had died, and seeing as bring itself back I am not about to allow to fall into nothing once. So ButteBlues said that someone should make the thread and seeing as I am here and have nothing better to do, I shall do it. The following was this month's cotnest:

Wizards has decided to reprint none other than Juzam Djinn from the Arabian Nights set in 10th edition. (In my world, anything can happen) As an artist your job is to create a new piece of art for this spectacular rerelease of one of Magic's best and most notorious creatures ever printed.
And with that here are this month's entries (spoilered because I am nice):

Overall great work guys! One vote per person and I encourage you to not vote for yourself. Voting closes in exactly one week. You may discuss your votes here.
Also please point out any mistakes I have made here.
For me, it came down between Pringlesman, chronoplasm, and Bad Luck. I liked the abstraction in chronoplasm, but I thought it focused too much on the player and not enough on the Djinn. Bad Luck's was great, very detailed and interesting, but in the end I just loved the texture of Pringlesman's entry.
For me it was a toss up between el garbo and pringlesman.
Admittedly, pringlesman's style fits an MTG card more... but somehow it doesn't convey the feeling of sheer size that Juzam is implied to have. The man in his hand seems almost like an after-thought. El Garbo's is cartoony and MTG has decidedly gone away from those types of illustrations, but somehow imparts the guy's feeling of "oh f*, I'm screwed now!"
I also like Bad Luck's, but the layout is more like tarot's "devil" than a "big-ass demon", making it decidely less threatening in feel.
The artwork of pringlesman, el garbo, shloukas, and bad luck were among my favorites. In the end, I decided to go with Shloukas' representation because of the deviation from the original, as well as a better representation of the text on the card.
I had to go for Bad Luck, but Pringlesman wasn't far behind.
Bad Luck's pencils, I thought, were supreme. I'm not so fond of the colouring job, but that's more because I lean towards really clean and clear colouring jobs like in cartoons. However, there's an insane amount of detail in BL's piece of art and I love it to bits.
Pringlesman's watercolour evokes memories of Drew Tucker's MTG gear, which is always a good thing in my books. I especially love Juzam's face. He looks totally nasty.
That said, though, I thought this was a really top quality month. Other notables are mondu_the_fat, Shloukas and Grimmshaw.

Pringles and Shloukas I think really got it right. Shloukas had a new age feel to it (somthing I tried to incorporate into my peice) and got it feeling right.
Pringles definatly has that magic feel to it, like in the old days. Even though there is less focus on the little man.

Are you serious? Sweet. Well, judging from your art, he teaches well ;).

I disagree; I think pringlesman's does a great job of portraying size. Not only the contrast between the djinn and the guy, but the background does a great job of evoking some sort of towering cavern.
Well I did not share my thoughts about the pieces themshelves so now I will do so. To begin with I voted for El Garbo because his piece is just nice. I like the pencil look, it gives it a soft feel yet still keeps it true to a horrible beast. Conceptully I felt that Shloukas had the best piece. It was by far the most orginial and it showed alot of attention to detail. I think the major issue that I and others have is its lack of color. It looks too bland as is. Bad Luck's was also very nice although in his case I felt the orginial pencils looked much better. Finally pringlesman probably put more effort into his piece than any of us, and it did turn out very nicely, sadly I do not think it is an art fit for a magic card.
Sure, why not :). I don't have a 10th edition symbol, though, and I'm far too lazy to make one that's more than just "10," so someone'll have to post that for me.
Raia got my vote solely 'cause I LOL'ed at it. Massive Kudos to Shloukas! Also, I have to say this 'cause it's what I thought when I saw it: "OMG!!! B00BI35!1! GRIMMSHAW IS THE L33TZ04!1!!1SHIFT1" *cough* had to get that out of my system.

[Nex3,] Can I assume that whoever the winner is, if it is pringlesman or not, you will render it for them and for the contest?

And that is why Fogatog is my hero. Foily and everything. And assuming El Garbo wins you will gives his the same treatment?
You don't want me anymore.
Fogatog, that really is very cool (although I don't think the art was really cut out for foiling). I don't really mind if you render the winner's art :).
