Hello everyone - it's time for another round of feedback. There has been a LOT of changes this time around (with a few more on the way in the next few days) so we are looking for more feedback. We are however mostly focused on bugs this time around - but any feedback you can give will be helpful.
NOTE: The beta is not synced with live servers. This means newer posts on the live site will not show up here.
Winners have been selected and PMed on the live site!
Hearthstone Beta Key Giveaway

Winners are selected randomly: Winners will be selected at random, and will be sent a PM on MTGS' main site
The contest will last for 1 week
Open Beta may start at any time: One trick with this, is Open beta for hearthstone could start soon. if open beta starts during this contest, then no beta keys will need to be given away (for obvious reasons)
The login process for old MTGS users is more than a little obtuse with no clear way to go about it. I just had to guess at whether or not I had an account, then got thrown off when my usual nickname was already taken, then had to figure out if I already made an account or if I automatically got migrated. I also severely prefer the sort of basic forums that aren't loaded with graphics and ads for games I don't play/care about. It's also a very generic look for the site. In its simplicity the original MTGS site had a unique look to it. Now it just looks like ChannelFireball and every other forum ever.
I gave some feedback privately already (I do not want to post it publicly, but it should have gotten to the right people by now), but the thing I want to note is that the "latest posts" listed on the forum index are not the latest post by a long shot. I'm seeing posts from 2009.

Can we have Megiddo removed from the forum forever please?
i'm pretty sure i can find your ***** online within 3 minutes
I like some features but not others. I enjoy the fact that when you hover over a card link it shows the card without having to click on it to open a new window. The user menu has been improved as well. I particularly like being able to see recent posts so easy. The overall look of the site though I don't enjoy. It has been made too polished IMO. One thing in particular I think this has changed is the number of threads per page you can view. It is much less. In forums with many stickies that will be all you see.
Also, my sig doesn't work like it used to on the old site. I'm sure this can be fixed though.
Is there some sort of limit on carriage returns within posts? Some difference in the way new lines are handled?
I have lots of previous posts that seem to have combined what were on multiple lines into blocks of one line, and I don't seem to be able to edit them to reinclude the correct spacing. This is especially awkward where [ p ] tags have been used because anything in those tags that isn't on a separate line overlaps.

Also, when I previewed this post several size=14.3px tags had somehow snuck into the post.
I really hate the dark colors. They are depressing and I would visit this site less if they stayed this way.

I perceive that my account on Salvation proper is syncing poorly with my Curse account. It appears that my new avatar and signature have not transitioned over to this beta. Also, the posts in my subscribed threads are severely out of date, with November 14th being the most recent. In addition, it appears that one of my private messages that I read already on the non-Beta Salvation did not register as having been read on this forum.
On the upshot, I quite like the graphical layout, and am happy to see that I can use a dark theme.
Definitely not seeing many of the posts from recent past, but I'm sure that this has something to do with the system not being synced recently.
All the fonts feel like they're smaller, but that could be an illusion created by the different color schemes (darker tops) between the sites. Personally, I like the layout better on here as it feels easier to navigate.
I'm also a fan of having the report button on the bottom of posts as opposed to by the thank button. It was too easy to accidentally click thank instead of report if you weren't paying attention on a phone.

Jace bounce was a -1. He could do it 3 times before he would die. Liliana can only do it once before having to do her +1. Overall very disappointed with her unless we get Madness.
Crap, you're right, she's not as good as one of the single most overpowered cards ever printed. Unplayable!
The new post editor seems broken.
When I post this, and then go back and edit my post, the formatting screws up radically. Even if I do nothing, saving the post again causes it to look like this.
Furthermore, trying to use the BBCode Editor seems to cause the formatting to screw up from the very first post, no edit required.
Also, at one point, pressing the BB button up the top of the post editor caused the entire post editor to disappear, for some reason.
Occasionally when I try to post a reply, I will get a red error message "Please write something in the comment box.", and the message I typed out is removed. This persists until I refresh the page. Also, when on a faulty page showing this bug, if I go in and edit a post (as I'm doing right now, adding this note to this report... that's a bit confusing, just ignore me) and then go Save Changes, the entire post that I edited inexplicably appears in the post editor at the very bottom of the page. Attempting to "Post Reply" with this still yield the error.
Things like posts not being up-to-date are temporary issues, we just haven't done an import recently. Before the site goes live, we'll definitely do a full import. Also, we know the text editor is the biggest issue right now, we're looking into it!
Also, my sig doesn't work like it used to on the old site. I'm sure this can be fixed though.
Unfortunately, the way we render bbcode there has to be a space in between each symbol. So your sig would need to have a space in between these: :symg::symw:. I'd recommend using the mana tags instead.
I like some of the features. I like how the card shows up when you hover over the link. I don't like the color scheme. It could just be me, but it feels too bright. I also like the notifications for new posts in threads.
Wow, I posted int he wrong feedback thread! Sorry!. Anyway, where is what I posted:
I would love it if we had some "Insightful", "Like", "LOL" etc buttons besides just the Thanks. Sort of like what Shoryuken has (note: link is off site and might be NSFW in areas). You can view someone's profile to see how many they have of each, and on which posts (here is a link to my profile, for reference: http://forums.shoryuken.com/profile/88436/Spiral0Architect). That link also will show you each category they have, which might prove helpful.
Hovering over the bottom part of a person's signature will make the buttons appear. However many of each button a post receives will be displayed here with a number. You can hover over a single button to see who gave that particular post that kind of feedback. You can see some posts in the forums to see it in action if this is confusing (note: not advertising the site, just using it as an example!!)
If something is flagged with enough of the negative feedback buttons ("Spam", "Troll", or "Abuse"), the post is automatically hidden. If you want to see the hidden post (maybe you want to see why it got buried), you can click on it.
This system is really nice, because it can save the forum from a lot of needless posts, and also lets people know whether their post is appreciated or not. "Thank Yous" are useful, but I like the more in-depth feel of having multiple kinds of buttons to hit. Also, SRK's buttons don't drag you away from the thread you were browsing to say "Thank you for thanking", so people are more inclined to give them out.
I would love this type of system here. It makes giving feedback on people's posts a lot easier, and avoids a lot of needless spam. I would probably browse a lot more with this in place, too. It makes the forum feel so much more complete.
I'd think it would be great with drop down menus from the top command bar.
Also its probably just nostalgia but I've grown to really like the blue of the original mtgsalvation. The search function borks a lot too,

I like the blue as well... perhaps the bars between posts could be a dark blue rather than black? Could we have customization options for that? The sides of the page are busy, and contrast with the white/off-white of everything else. Very distracting, and they reduce the effective width of my monitor, being 2-3 times wider than the live site. I'm glad thank-yous are back in, but there's no way to view all the posts I've thanked or the posts I've been thanked for. Friends seem to be missing as well, though that's one of the few current features I don't care about.
Whoa - hitting enter effectively creates a double-space. That can be worked around by editing, it seems. The card database needs a lot of work though. Most importantly, it needs...
to be a complete list of all cards (every english version at least)
the ability to limit search results to 1 per unique card (to prevent getting flooded with 20 versions of the same card)
the ability to search using OR and NOT rather than just AND (for example, I want to exlude un-cards, planes, schemes, tokens, and emblems in most searches)
and to a lesser extent:
the ability to search via color identity (exclusive or relaxed) and by rarity
I have a problem with this: I now have two curse accounts. My old one, which automagically logs into the thing and the mtgs turned curse one :/ (btw, this is TheEndIsNear, I just don't wanna log out of my curse account everywhere.)
Also some mod tags (the thing that says which mods mod where seem to be outdated, votan is still listed as a mod.)
The notification things in the My Account thing are weird. I added 2, saved, came back, and everything but the two I added were removed, even if they were checked when I saved.
2) No difference in icon for hot threads, threads I posted, or combinations of the mentioned and others that show up now.
3) Given the audience of this web site, I strongly believe that it serves the interests of the community better to make the Dark template the default template and make the Light template the optional one.
4) Carriage returns: this was mentioned before and I saw some others doing some testing, but the discrepancy exists between the 'standard' editor and the BB code editor. If you click the BB box and then go back to standard, it performs as typically expected.
5) Any testing as to how an existing Curse account is affected when connected to the Beta versus when it goes live? For example, I moved between these dates, so will this be reflected accurately on the next data dump (or the final live dump)?
6) Signature is updated but other user controlled items are not. Referencing the above, I updated my signature after my location. Why did these not pull at the same time or why did they pull independently?
I generally don't like subsumption and aggregation but whatever. I feel that the design is too different too quickly. Literally everything is different other than general forum formatting. This I think is much too drastic of a change for an established community, especially one on the internet. Another problem I have is just that this is MTGSalvation not HearthstoneSalvation.
It seems that there's no way to jump to the start of posts that were posted since the last visit as there is on MTGS. There's a jump to latest post, but that doesn't do a whole lot. I play a lot of mafia, so being able to jump to new posts is a feature that is so important I would call it nearly mandatory, and something that would greatly impede my enjoyment.
The reply box is really screwy; I used to hit enter twice to start a new paragraph, or else just one enter if I'm doing some sort of compact list. Now one enter is actually two enters. In addition, it seems to glitch out if you enter twice and delete just one.
Two enter spacing from above.
Two enter spacing then delete from above
One enter spacing from above. And finally, one enter then delete from above.
I feel that this system ends up being really weird; why not just have one enter be an enter, rather than have to do deletes to get an odd number of line spacings?
EDIT: So as it turns out this is a reply box bug, and deleting does remove the enters. And what's more, while in edit mode, I can double enter like I normally do on MTGS and it works. There's a disconnect from the reply box to here. Let's see if it's the same with the edit box.
EDIT 2: Single enter test
EDIT 3: So I can single enter using edit reply but not regular reply. That's silly and should be fixed, preferably to allow for single enter reply but if not, it should be fixed so that they are the same and that the reply box isn't showing something different than what will be posted. I don't want to have to hit preview every time.
Looks like there's multiquote, and that's good.
I sort of feel as though the default font is one or two points bigger than the current MTGS. Is this so? If so, could it be dropped to be in alignment with that? I'm used to MTGS and the new size screws with my head.
Lastly I have no wish to like this site on twitter and facebook. I'd quite enjoy NOT seeing those buttons at the top of the page. At the very bottom? Sure, I never look there anyway. Hell, actually looking down there I see much better looking buttons anyway.
Actually no, this is the last. The avatar button in the top right is extremely unsettling if you have a moving avatar. For my avatar, it looks as though it's some quivering hellspawn until I look closely and figure out exactly what it is. Don't make me think of my 2hus as hellspawn pls. Except the ones that are because some sort of are.
And then I've got one more complaint so I lied again about that being the last: I'd really enjoy if when you highlighted the post number in the top right that it would underline it or something, just so you have visual feedback that it's highlighted.
Oh my goodness upon trying to hit reply I have another. The button I would normally hit for post reply seems to be "Upload an Image". I think a lot of us on MTGS are used to post reply being on the bottom left, so that will take some mental reworking. Or, some reworking by you dudes (which is the more preferable option.)
Ultimately this comes down to the layout changes from MTGS being unnecessary and kind of annoying.
First off, I actually like the beta. I remember it was so slow in the beginning, but now that I've gotten a bit used toit (and played around with the features, superficially) it's fairly functional, and I could probably switch to it anytime soon (being a Mafia player, my only real loss would be the people who access MTGS @ work)
Some thoughts:
1. Like Wheat, I dislike the spacing in the reply box. It's more like Wordpress spacing but it's a bit disconcerting and I'd appreciate going back to single-space. Never mind, BB fixes that.
2. Haha, I'm testing the new forums right now and the UI changes are really nice. Thank you!
3. When I copy and paste links I would like everything formatting-related to be stripped.
I don't want this, for example: 4. OH MY GOD YOU HAVE A GOOD ISOLATION FUNCTION THANK YOU
5. Can you make the spoiler edges more.. blatant? It's difficult to see.
I'm not sure what more to mention - I'm sure if I played around with it for more than an hour I'd find something to complain about but the beta is really well done and is much more improved than the early days of the beta.
Also a quick note for those who wanted the dark theme - you can now access it via http://beta.mtgsalvation.com/my-preferences under "Site skin"
And with that

1) All embedded links are attached to a linkout function.
