Hahahhahahaaah "warning given-please avoid conformation bais", the mods here really kill me. I'd love for this to be infracted for spam personally.
You wrote this and then deleted it. Infraction given for trolling. -Kirin
Are we seriously at the point of where we are retroactively un-deleting posts and then infracting users for them? So, if I make a post, realize the error of my ways and delete it immediately, I can still be carded for said post? I've seen quite a bit in my "CI Warrior" days, but this has got to be, by far, the worst.
And before someone comes in and tells me "This is not a community issue, take this up with the mod who gave the infraction", I say to you the following:
1) This absolutely is a community issue. This sets a terrible precedent for self-moderating;
2) Its not my infraction anyways, and I'm asking about the practice moreso than the individual infraction.
I have to say, I am pretty floored. There have been quite a few times where I have written something in a heated moment, thought better of it, and then went back and deleted what I wrote because I didn't want to get an infraction. I would hate to think that a mod could undelete those posts and infract me for it, especially if I removed them rather quickly.
This was probably a misunderstanding, since we do allow self-moderating, as long as it's done in reasonable time (for example, if you wrote something offensive, you fix it before the flame war in response to it starts) and if it's done before the mod issues a warning or infraction.
In this case, the self-moderating appears to have fulfilled both of those requirements.
Deleting a post that could make someone angry ended up making someone angry. Can the trolling ever be stopped? Will everyone be angry about everything?

I think it's more a matter of impact. If you type some flame, and immediately delete it, it shouldn't be a problem. You are actively aware that it was inappropriate, and removing it shows it. If you say, wait 5 minutes, then it's like you are trying to get away with it while still angering people.

Everyone knows that good luck and good game are such insincere terms that any man who does not connect his right hook with the offender's jaw on the very utterance of such a phrase is no man I would consider as such.
Okay... so, I figured out what happened.
Infecter4Life - posted spam.
Kirin - Issues an infraction for spam. When he hits submit he notices that the post is showing up as deleted. To keep a record of what's what, he undeletes and modtexts the post.
I will say that the modtext is a bit awkward on that one, but he did issue the ticket while the post was still "live" and didn't go after a deleted post like the mod text implies. As a general rule of thumb we are not going to go after people who catch themselves like it first appeared.
If it matters, the infraction was issued 32 minutes after it was posted.
Oh, so the post was deleted while he was issuing the infraction? Hmm... that seems very borderline as far as self-moderating goes. But I'm very glad to know the issue was not as it originally seemed.
Also spam =/= trolling, so that's another issue with the modtext. But alas, my original concern has been answered.
Yeah, well.... It was absolutely Spam since it wasn't related to the topic. But making fun of the staff feels like it falls under the "Trolling Rule" too. Personally, I could go either way
I saw the post. And was giving the infraction. As soon as I typed the infraction I saw it had been deleted.
If you look at the times they are very very close to each other that is because I was infracting while it was being deleted.
Also the infraction was given for trolling. I did not view this as spam. And the reporting user also tagged it as trolling.
I'm still learning. And I appreciate this lesson. I will be more careful in how I word my infractions. It definitely could have been worded much better.
