I remember when I used to post here. Back before BoK came out, rumors were floating around about what cards would come out. Some people posted scans, others posted information on cards from inside sources. People were discussing potential strategies. Eventually, my interest in the game waned, and I stopped posting.
Today I decided to come back, and look over the forums that were still somewhat new when I registered. They're grown nicely, and by member number shows that I was one of the first 1/3 members to register at the moment. Anyway, I decided to go to my profile to see what my postcount was, as I had no idea.
I noticed that I had a "user note." I clicked on it to see what it said. I was confronted with two spam warnings. One of them I remember clearly. I posted "that's interesting" in a thread about the upcoming Tallowisp. I thought this post was perfectly fine, since I had nothing much to say about the card other than that it was interesting (my post was NOT sarcastic, as it may have appeared). I can understand that being interpreted as spam; if it was at my forum, I very well could have interpreted it that way.
That warning didn't bother me. I'm hardly a spammer, and when it happened, I assumed that it would eventually withdrawn over the course of a period of time. This is the standard at most forums, as people change, and one small spam infraction a long time ago should have no relevance a year later.
The warning is still there, but since I don't post anymore, it doesn't really bother me. What does bother me is the other warning. I was given a spam warning for what appears to be no reason, with no link justifying it. I have no idea where this supposed spam was, or when it occured. Why no give a link? What is the logic behind this? No good can come of preventing members to see where they were warning, only moderator abuse. I'm not accusing any moderators of abusing my rights, but I would like to know where this so called spam took place. What I'm really saying is that I disagree with the policy of no-link warnings, and that this should be stopped.
I'm in agreeance, because I too have one of these warnings...my posts are frequently odd and baa-induced, but never spammy...usually. But I'd still like the link!

Lies! -I'm Buffy Summers, town tracker. I used my ability on you and saw that you didn't use any abilities before the game started. My flavor is I was sucked through a mysterious space-time portal and I'm here to kill all the vampires, and my tracking ability is a combination of my Slayer and Native American skills.
Well the first warning is obviously spam (A two-word post? Seriously?), so it's justified. However, I think warnings that are quite old aren't usually counted towards suspension or such. It's mostly just a way to keep tabs on who warned who for what.
As for the second warning, asking about it is more appropriate in one of the mod helpdesks. That's why they're there. To ask about stuff like this.

That's not what my post is about. My post is not asking what the warning is about, although I said I would like to know. My post is asking the staff to always include links.

And they usually do, to my knowledge. Your issue is that a mod neglected to add a link one time. So you need to find out which mod gave you the warning in the first place, figure out what went wrong.
Otherwise, it's already staff policy to link to the post/thread that caused the warning. No need to ask them to do what they already do, for the most part.
Hm... Just noticed that these usernotes aren't public.
Why would they be? A user's warnings are between him and the mods, no one else's business but their's.
Anyway, it happened to Alpha too. If they don't do it sometimes, I don't see what's wrong with asking them to do it all the time.
Nothing wrong. But you're asking them to do something they're already supposedly doing. I'm sure screw-ups happen, I'd be shocked if they didn't. I suppose the unwritten rule is "We'll provide links all the time, but if we happen to miss one, bring it to our attention and we'll fix the problem." My suggestion is to post an inquiry at a helpdesk, preferably a global mod or admin, and ask them why links aren't provided in every single case.
Also, it's entirely possible that the other post was spammish enough to be deleted, at which point, no link viewable by anyone other than a mod of that forum could be provided.
Sing lustily and with good courage.
Be aware of singing as if you were half dead,
or half asleep:
but lift your voice with strength.
Be no more afraid of your voice now,
nor more ashamed of its being heard,
than when you sang the songs of Satan.
[off topic]That's probably the most ridiculous warning I've ever seen. Rather than fill my compliment (I guess it was a compliment directed to both RE for finding the card, and Wizards for coming up with it) with spam just to make it a long post, I decided to keep it short and simple. So, I get a warning for spam, because I tried not to spam. How ironic.[/off topic]
Well, I'm not here to argue about wether or not that was spam, but rather to point out something out. Since apparently this isn't done any more, feel free to close this.
