If you wall want to know a little secret, phpBB2 doesn't have custom titles installed, I have to create new "special" ranks to give you all as custom titles. There's also a mod for that too As for 10,000 for Customs, eh, I'd say 5,000 myself :alien1:
5,000? Why so high? All a custom is supposed to be is a little "reward" for sticking with the site for a good amount of time, not a far-off goal for the spamming elite. Even a site with a bunch of spam opportunities and a ginormous member base would only have 50-odd people with custom titles under 5000/title.
I think 1000 would keep it out of the hands of n00bs, without making it unattainable.
It was my good point first Can you someone please do something about the anoying macromedia pop up? the only reason I dont visit as often is because of that
If you get pop-ups, it's because of spyware on your own computer. Not that it matters since Tex is banned here now as well But I suppose I could say that for anyone else who might come along :wierd2:
Anyways, would it be at all possible to maybe determine Custom Tagginess by the time a member has been with the forums rather than the number of times he/she has posted?
This in turn does not promote spamming, but, does allow for custom tags?
BTW, glad I got this link form Qwerty... I shall truly miss News...
I know of another forum that uses that method to determine the time you can get custom tags, but I believe its vBulletin. However, there's tons of mods and stuff for php, it may very well be possible. I'll check into it in the morning and see what all I can do around here
The mod team agreed on 1500, so that's going to be the official post count to achieve a custom We're also considering some sort of thing where you get gold each time you post or click on a link, and having a special tag store where you can spend the gold and get a cool tag, like this one:

On Gaia, which is I'm sure the place you got this idea from, it tends to encourage spam. A lot of spam. So much spam, they have a whole section dedicated to spam and it's the largest section on the site.
No matter how you do it, I am just glad to get a chance to catch up to some of those older 'News posters. Of course since most people here are from 'News they will still know I am ideed not "old school" lol. Anyway, I look foreward to posting, and shooting for custom.

uhm... I think that the time u r member is more important that number of posts... as said before giving rewards because of posts will cause spam...
i dont understand 2 why the number of post is so important...
another alternative is 2 give customs 2 the ones who actively work 4 the community (news, rumors, webmasters, mods,...)

I think custom titles shouldn't be given as soon as you reach a certain postcount, they should be given when the member does something worth remembering. Like R_E gets one, well, just for being R_E and because everyone knows him as the "rumor god" (even if he's not continuing that). Nothing to do with postcount, it's noteworthiness that's important.

I added a new rank, btw. It's called "banned." Currently, only one member is a member of that rank.

Something like this, perhaps:
Acolyte - 0
Wizard - 30
Battlemage - 60
Seer - 100
Mystic - 300
Planeswalker - 600
Custom title - 1000
This is just a proposition, but do you see what I mean? It's a little more flavorful to Magic than having "Forum Regulars" and the like.
