I'll start posting again here I suppose guys if I can help out at all.
@SirAuron: I am a Doctor Who fan and was at one time working on a DW EDH deck, can I see the list?
Things have been super busy since I stopped posting. I moved to Nova Scotia from PEI, got engaged, had several jobs, came ridiculously close to Top 8'ing a GPT and I'm getting ready to go to another one on Saturday. Got a respiratory therapy session tomorrow though so thats going to be awesome. Playing Esper Control, got my decklist below.
I've been playing Steam a lot and enjoying the PS2 I was given at Christmas by a friend of mine. Been mainly playing the original God of War, Shadow of the Colossus, Killzone and GTA: San Andreas.
Waiting on the next paycheque so I can put together a new desktop computer so I can run Bioshock Infinite on max graphics as well as some HD mods for Skyrim.
I don't like the increased black edges at the bottom but other than that I'm fine with it. I can get used to the font change and I like the anti-counterfeit measure that the holofoil and language label provide.
So how was everyone's holidays?
PS: It's Griselbrand not Griselbran on the front post. He's not a demonic muffin.
Since this is a theme deck, somethings like Reality Strobe, Reforge the Soul Reality Spasm, Bonfire of the Damned and stuff are in here for flavor purposes. But the group that I play with this deck against are all new, so things like Reality Strobe are really hard for them to get around, so its cool.
I cut some stuff, like Chain Reaction and Snapcaster Mage. Chain Reaction rarely ever got used and Snapcaster was actually a liability from me reusing my spells.
Parallel Lives, when I can protect it, is simpley rediculous.
There is an infinite mana combo with Reiterate and [/card]Mana Gyser[/card]. It will be replaced or added to when I get an extra Rings of Brightheart which will go with Basalt Monolith so I can have two infinite mana combos, which will wok nicely with my X spells. I've been considering an artifact theme to go with it, possibily finding a way to abuse Helvault
Some of the Doctor Who references:
Reality Spasm, Reality Strobe, Devastation Tide: The Cracks in the Universe
Skysrcibbling: The Cracks with the Time Lords on the other side. Even shaped like the crack an everything.
Parallel Thoughts: Pointed out to me by a friend, its kind of like how he started working on the equation to save Gallifrey a very long time ago.
Distorion Wake: Saving Gallifrey...
Oblivion Stone,Bonfire of the Damned, Comet Storm: ...rather than burning it. Oblivion Stone is very similiar already to The Moment.
Isochron Scepter: The Sonic Screwdriver. Always getting me answers, via Ponder, Preordain, Brianstorm, or my favorite, Mystical Tutor.
Reforge the Soul: Regeneration!
Reins of Power, Eternal Dominion: How the Doctor always finds a way to use your strengths against you.
Sakashima: Very Zygon like since it can copy my Legendaries and both exist concurrently.
I even have little quotes from the show I use when I play specific cards....
A bit of a back story: This deck was going to exist as a UR combo deck (in Edh, is there really anything else UR can do aside from combo?). Then, I watched Day of the Doctor and got inspired. Since I am a massive whovian, I said "If I add some burn, I can make it like the War Doctor" and went down that path. The deck had to have some things like Niv Mizzet, Psychosis Crawler, and Ulamog in the deck so I can still be a bit competitive in other circles. But the themes in general are still there.
I still have a stack of about 15+ cards of ideas I want to pursue, so I'll be playing around with it for a very long time.
I should also point out that when posting this, I had trouble getting my spoiler tags to work right. Then I realized I had typed "spoilers'. Thanks River.

Bioshock infinite is very good. Very confusing towards the end. I just finished it the other day and I must say, the ending requires you to pay very close attention and pick up the little details. I didn't, since I usually just brush through a game the first time for the story and really get into the details the second time. This time, it didn't work out. I had to google how the ending was interpreted, but once i read what was equivalent to a research paper on Bioshock Infinite, I am good.
I don't like the increased black edges at the bottom but other than that I'm fine with it. I can get used to the font change and I like the anti-counterfeit measure that the holofoil and language label provide.

Good. I got to hand out with the family and friends. Some of my friends were in from out of state, so that was cool. Got a legit 12 foot Fourth Doctor scarf from Doctor Who which I have been sporting in the sub-zero temperatures we've had around here in t e past few days. Got some really cool Doctor Who shot glasses for my 25th birthday.
PS: It's Griselbrand not Griselbran on the front post. He's not a demonic muffin.
Looks pretty solid. Though I admit, I am not playing standard at the moment, so I really can't say too much. It definitely looks very solid and looks like something I myself wouldn't mind playing.

Holofoil is the worst thing to me. I've always hated foils and having even a part of my rares and mythics be foil is a turn off. I don't mind the font change, but some letters, like "F" on one of their previews looks super different from previous font they've used.
I think Griselbrand's image would improve if it was a giant demonic muffin, just try to imagine a chocolate muffing with wings, horns and claws attacking people, it is a food chain reversal.

The most evil part about him is the amount of calories that he has per serving. So much temptation.
So I took the Esper deck I had above to the tournament and had a disappointing 1-2 drop.
First round was against a Golgari control deck that was splashing blue for Aetherling. I guess if you're going to splash for a blue card, thats one of the best ones to go for.
He ended up resolving Aetherling both games and I didn't draw anything to interact with him so I lost those two games very quickly. I drew a Mind Rot one turn which would have been much better as a Divination to draw cards, would have lost the game anyway but it wouldn't have been dead.
Second matchup was against Selesnya aggro and my opponent went Charm to make a Knight into Ajani while I had Essence Scatter in my hand. Made for a disappointing game 1.
Game 2 I thoughtseize him when he has a pair of creatures on the board to find a charm and 2 Boon Satyrs. Needless to say the game didn't last long from there.
I ended up in the third game playing against a friend playing mono red devotion and I totally crushed him. I ended up dropping from the tournament since 2 losses isn't going to get me in the top 8 of a 114 person tournament.
Went into a draft side event and I opened a Prophet of Kruphix while I was already blue green, decided to play an extra land to help me cast it, got mana screwed both games against minotaurs with a pair of rageblood shamans and a hammer of purphoros.
So it was abundantly clear that this weekend was not my weekend for Magic. Thinking of putting together Rakdos control of some kind and seeing how that works out.
It trades upkeep for inspiration and gets +0/+1. Losing upkeep means we have to wait two turns to get the first card, but untapping it means it has more room for abuse if a 2/2 can survive for a few turns.
I think pain seer could replace underworld connections in my black devotion deck, since it is quite low curve. However I might need a good sideboard replacement for it against red devotion, but moving underworld connections there, would mean that I had to cut something else. Well, only time will tell.

Regarding Pain Seer, I'd never attack with it to be honest but there are ways that it can be made useful via cards like Springleaf Drum. Makes an aggro deck seem like a great idea as long as you can protect yourself or recover from things like Verdict or Anger.
Attacking with pain seer is no problem when you have mogis's maruaders to back it up. If you are not attacking with it, you just get some sort of Dark Tutelage, which is not that impressive.

Hey guys. I should have mentioned this sooner, but the PM basically made me come back to let you all know I'm leaving MTGS.
Sorry guys. It's been fun, but I'm out.
Sorry to hear that. Its been a pleasure having you around. Best of luck in your life bud.
On an unrealated note, am I the only one who thinks the Xenagos art for his god card is super awesome. Probably one of the best got arts to date.
It's going to make one heck of a foil, thats for sure. Darth I'd pull Infest because Hideous Laughter has splice so you have a chance at extra value.
Mogis Marauder hasn't seen a lot of play recently so this could be something to bring it back, who can tell. Ral Zarek would definitely be nice to have with Pain Seer. The Game Day art is far superior in my opinion to the regular art.
Xenagos looks pretty cool but my favorite art right now in BNG is Phenax the Dimir colored God.
Wow seems like black is getting quite a bit of love, and mono-black devotion in standard seems like it's going to be nuts. As well I can finally replace my infest in my sideboard for one of my legacy decks for something better in every way yeah
How many active users are we supposed to have SA25? I agree the art does look amazing, it looks like black is getting a lot of new toys in this set.
As far as I know, six, unless something changed.
I am kind of liking Champion of Stray Souls for my Karador EDH deck. Having a lot of small creatures with some nice effects, it can potentially swing the board state for me in an instant.
Though it is not really our domain, I would argue that legacy burn actually gets a nice addition in this set. Searing Blood seems like a good sideboard card against creature heavy strategies or decks running DRS. Bile Bligth seems like an excellent tool in our arsenal though, since it hoses tokens and BTE. -3/-3 for BB is not bad as a removal spell either though, the multi-target effect is just icing on the cake.

I concur. Both are very good. Both Modern and Legacy playable. I do love they do cards that are just good all around.
As for the movie, I think its success will relate entirely on the plotline picked. Like, a Kamigawa movie (which seems highly unlikely), even done well would flop. I'd like to see the New Phyrexia block as a story. That could be very good. Play on some survival style movies.
Do we even have any clues as to what it will be yet?

No clue yet.
Kamigawa was actually one of the best series of books wizards has printed. The hero of the story, Toshi (a black mage btw) has quite a smart mouth. US audiences might not understand the Japanese mythology type setting, but if Toshi is casted correctly, the character could more than make it for it.
Btw, I recommend skimming the Kamigawa books at least, they're actually pretty good. Well, compared to most Magic books

I read some of the first two, but never got to read the last one. They were pretty good. The point I was getting at was the negativity from the set and the fact that Kamigawa isn't as much of a fan favorite plane. Especially because it is very different, at least it seems to me, from other blocks.
The major problem with kamigawa is that every time americans make movies about asian culture, it ends up like the Kill Bill movies... In short, it usually is a comical result.

Yeah, that is some seriously sick art. We could use it for this thread, though the way things are shaping up, a new thread doesn't look too promising.
