Speaking of punting hard... 68th at GP Shanghai... the good oh' 8-1 day 1, 1-5 day 2.. hahaha...
Def tilted hard after 1-2ing with an insane draft deck. Probably cost me the tournament.
I've been keeping track of events in the thread, but missing out on tournaments - and little to report from the Council - means I haven't had much to contribute. I'll get around to editing the Decklist Thread, soon.
@ruleofthumb: Always happy to add another friend of the Clan.
@redeath, Phyrexian: Sorry to hear about tilting. I've done that more than a few times myself. Not sure which feels worse: punting in a PTQ or Texas Hold 'Em.

May your games be chaotic and your decks be Rogue.
So what does everyone think about the double-faced cards in Innistrad? I actually dislike them because of the minor inconvenience during drafting. Also, usually, I don't sleeve cards during FNM/Pre-release level drafts, so means I have to have a pen handy or something else to mark those official checklist card things.

[thread=52196][Alliance of Rogue Deckers!][/thread][My Cube List]
Sorry I haven't posted here in forever. I've been playing draft at fnms mostly. Caw-blade standard just wasn't my thing. I plan on getting back into standard with the release of Innistrad.
I'm okay with the double-faced cards except for two things; the checklist cards are ugly, and it makes drafting more difficult.
Currently I'm thinking I'd like to make some sort of green ramp deck, but i'll wait for innnistrad before getting started making anything. I really hope that new garruk is good. Also, I don't like that they are printing two new garruks in a row, because I doubt they will be able to share the spotlight.
Ideally this deck goes T1 suspend Gargadon T2 Double borderpost T3 Land float sac to gargadon cascade!
We were thinking brainstorming what abosultely ruins zoo's day early sweepers/shackles. In that list was a bunch of red spells that did pretty much nothing to anti-zoo (mythic zoo) or 12 post or control. Looking at later wrath effects I came across Restore Balance Well cascade combo does well why not this? Hey hit lands too (12 post) and cards in hand (control) and thus Nu-Balance was born!
From there I just figured some good 3CMC+ non black cards that fit well with the idea and/or doubled as support.
And no I didn't know about the legacy deck casablanca before I built this.
@Phyrexian: I'm not a fan of the double-sided cards, though it impacts me a lot less right now since I lack the funds to consider Limited play. I think the "checklist" card is going to be reviled very quickly, and handwritten proxies (only good use for modern Basic Lands) will be used instead.
@redeath: Sorry to hear Philly didn't go so well for your team. I think my best Modern deck is TwinSanity, but I still need a set of Spell Crumples to kick it up another notch.
@dademan: Post-rotation, things should shake up enough for Infect to start showing more Aggro teeth. Jund Cascade didn't really make its mark until after Lorwyn/Shadowmoor rotation, given the faster speed in those four sets.
In Clan-related news, there have been two suggestions in the Council Thread about the next Clan Contest.
A) A Team Fortress 6-on-6 tournament. The idea is that 6 members of a Clan fact off against 6 members of another Clan. The coordination problems have already come up, and the idea does not have a lot of logistical support.
B) Pot Luck. The idea is that each Clan submits whatever they want - within reason - as their entry for the contest. Past entries included a slideshow with a mummified rat in various locations; a poem about a little girl; and the Top 40 Cards You Should Build a Rogue Deck Around Sometime. I had honestly forgotten about this, let alone contributing to it. And that I've been in [ARD] almost as long as I've been on MtGS. Sheesh.
At any rate, if anyone is interested in bandying about some ideas as to their interest in participating in either/both/neither, please let everyone know so I can pass along [ARD]'s views.
EDIT: Just got my Planeswalker Points Rating. Twenty-six points shy of being Level 32. Not bad, considering only 95 events. Pretty bad, considering my best "REL 3+" only netted 55 points... in 2003.
Hi guys, I was wondering if you guys will accept me into your clan?
Just a bit of intro on myself, i'm quite known in my LGS as a homebrew/rogue deck builder. And i have been tired of been told to play the tier one decks(it's as good as net-decking since they have to be established first before being considered tier-one) whenever they see that i lost a few games (it's not a shame to lose to Tier one - i did give them a good game).
My signature decks are Knights, and i play all kind & all type of knights, even those who people won't never even heard before.
So I was browsing through these area of the forum and was really delighted to come across this clan. I can't even begin to tell you how tiring it is playing against net-deck(i played against Legacy Zoo 50 times in these 2-3 weeks) so i'm glad to find like-minded players who feels the same of net-decking.
Below i submit a decklist which i'm trying to build on currently:
I'm getting back into competitive STD just so I can play with...
Labratory Maniac. A deck's who's entire purpose is to draw 61 cards as fast as you can? A mono blue deck that makes mill a viable strategy because it's stupidly self destructive. Flash back and graveyards abuse, oh... I just can't wait.
Heh, I'm a spellshaper now, not having a local store to play games is gonna hurt my ranking really fast...
@ Nabbydian: They stopped saying that once I began winning with any homebrew I could come up at the store. So be patient, once you know how to read your meta, you'll be feared.;)
In other news, my aoe3 mod finally came out!!! If for some strange reason you have aoe3+expansions, I really urge you to play it, you won't repent...

Hi Post Affinity, LOL I see where you are coming from, initally my Homebrew knights had decent success against Tier-1 decks and people were genuinely surprised but unfortunately once the surprise element was gone it didn't fare so well anymore .
I don't really have to read my meta, as it is just Big Zoo and small Zoo. Sad to say i'm trying to beat them at their own game, don't tell me to form something new because I only own mostly Knight cards. But i do crush the occasional Merfolk, goblins and Elves deck pretty easily so it's not all bad.

Your meta is pure aggro:o. You may want to try something like knights of the apocalypse (haakon and exemplar + a ridiculous amount of mass removal).
Also, swords to plowshares/path to exile are your friends...

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually tried the BW Haakon/Exemplar knights before and it works pretty good against Zoo. I played it a good 2 months but unfortunately i get tired of the same deck pretty quickly so i wanted to try something new. The BW Knights also tend to play epic games with the Haakon recursion which tire me out lol.
@Nabbydian: Welcome to [ARD]! Ninjas and Knights, eh? Interesting.
I signed [ARD] up for the Pot Luck Clan Contest. Details, such as they are, can be found here. We should be able to brainstorm something in the next three weeks.
I finally have a job, starting in a few days. No more late nights for me, but I'll still keep an eye on the Clan events.

May your games be chaotic and your decks be Rogue.
Hey guys, I'm brand new to the MTGS Forums, and was browsing through, when I came across this Clan, and I totally agree with what you guys are for. I've been playing Magic since about Mirrodin (the original(hence Modern is my dream format)), and have basically become more and more involved since then. I've recently developed a 12post deck unlike any I have seen before, most notably because it uses Urza-tron too, to generate insane amounts of mana pretty darn quick.
From what I've seen at least most of the time tron+12 post is just overkill, as you can see, your mana base is totally colorless, and your deck is basically defenseless early game, any good aggro or combo deck would have you dead by then...
Sorry, but that's the truth, also wurmcoil engine is better than darksteel sentinel in almost all cases.
@ Eventide: I didn't quite understand the task in that challenge?
Your points are valid if this were meant to be a competitive deck, which is is not (yet) as I've been playing only casually for a while. My mana base is ridiculous, perhaps, but so far its been successful. Overkill? I don't think having a turn 6 Emrakul almost every game counts as overkill. Colorless? every card is, so every land is, I see no problem. Wurmcoil Engine vs. Darksteel Sentinel is vary valid point, the reason I have sentinel is because I made this deck just from card I already had. Further suggestions would be appreciated.
Eventide, congrats! Awesome!
I ... god, I haven't played MTG in so long. Level 31 on the planes walker system somehow. I plan to play in something eventually ... but I have no idea what. I never have any time, and other things are more fun. So. ...
But I'm making a few decks, I'll report on them if I ever play them in real life ever. Living End in Modern is hilarious, by the way. Absolutely hilarious. (I won a match on MODO with it! Woo.)

Yeah, I like soldiers too. I have a Vial Soldier deck which is decent, but Vial Knights is still stronger.
Anyway i still remembered my mates laughed when I play Icatian Javelineer and threw a javelin at his creature. Later on I Vial in a Ranger of Eos to tutor and cast 2 more Javalineers...they were genuinely surprised. The look on their face was classic...:D
I also use a SFM package to equip swords on an unblockable Soltari Foot Soldier.
People hate deftblade elite once they meet my deck, like, seriously, they wonder how it isn't banned.
My soldiers deck is actually stronger than any knights deck I've built, ah, the irony, someday we could battle to see wich is the strongest tribe.
Soldiers in Modern are going to be really strong anyways, I love white having sideboard cards to almost any problem that may arise.

4 Vendilion Clique
4 Kitchen Finks

my angle has been to try unexpected cards and try slightly unusual strategies for the build.
new favourite cards:
nezumi shortfang
nyxathid
i've also re-discovered mwonvuli acid-moss which is always a fun card.
it also led to me *finally* purchasing a playset of garruk wildspeaker, making my total of owned playsets of walkers to 3. fun!
ajani vengeant is still my favourite card ever. and i don't even really play red/white, lol.
Your meta is pure aggro:o. You may want to try something like knights of the apocalypse (haakon and exemplar + a ridiculous amount of mass removal).

Here is the successful list I played against Zoo plucked from my legacy primer -[Deck/Primer] Legacy Knights Primer :
Black & White Legacy Knights, Haakon's Confidant
2 Haakon, Stromgald Scourge
4 Knight Exemplar
4 Knight of Meadowgrain
4 Dark Confidant
2 Mirran Crusader
3 Leonin Relic-Warder
2 Stillmoon Cavalier
4 Student of Warfare
Spells [15]
4 AEther Vial
2 Buried Alive
2 Entomb
3 Nameless Inversion
4 Swords to Plowshares
1 Godless Shrine
4 Marsh Flats
6 Plains
4 Scrubland
5 Swamp
2 Retribution of the Meek
4 Extirpate
1 Haakon, Stromgald Scourge
4 Orim's Chant
3 Tormod's Crypt
1 Vindicate

4 Urza's Power-Plant
4 Urza's Tower
Creatures
4 Darksteel Sentinel
4 Spawnsire of Ulamog
4 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
4 Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre
4 Everflowing Chalice
4 Expedition Map
4 All Is Dust (notice everything here is colorless)
4 Not of This World (could probably be replaced, but 7 mana is not too hard with this deck)
4 Pathrazer of Ulamog
4 Artizan of Kozilek
3 Hand of Emrakul (this and others are Spawnsire fodder, 20 mana= not too hard)
4 Crucible of Worlds
This deck can consistantly hardcast Emrakul on turn 5 or 6, brutal.
Sorry, but that's the truth, also wurmcoil engine is better than darksteel sentinel in almost all cases.
