Love the Garruk reference. need to use it. Wasn't really worried about grammar or spelling but since you were nice enough to find them I salute you sir. If everyone is in agreeance I will put the ajani section with Dechs final tweaks into the final write up.
I really don't know much about Tezzeret. not enough to roast him. I wish it had been another walker. If any of you think you got something please step forward.
Edit: Draft for Karn
Here we have Arty Shovelhead the world builder, the eternal servant to whoevers spark is in his head this week. Whether it’s that moldy old man Urza, the phyrexian slime, or that disgusting worm Venser, you never quite know who is in charge of you. It’s kind of dirty when you think of it.
You know, I could really use a golem. Someone who will do whatever I say. What do you think; would you like to be infected by a little black magic again? The phyrexians did a hell of a job to Mirrodin just think what I could do. Instead of all those useless mutants it could be my own private plane of undeath.
Their is alot of history for karn. He is the oldest charecter we have here and was around in the story longer then any of the other walkers we are roasting. If anyone can add feel free.
as for the standard goggles and baron I am switching to casual and draft to focus on pathfinder and that sort of stuff. He is just fine for casual as he is.
really? maybe i am just looking at him through "standard goggles", but a cmc 5 for a 4/4 is NOT good imo. lifelink and pro white/black? come on. pro black is helpful in regards to removal, but Mortars take him out easily. in a standard game when are you going to have 30 life and your opponent 10? this is a win-more scenario. plus the life-gain decks in standard right now are Bant, and wouldnt run him.
Ahh, how far the game's powercreep has come. Back in the original ravinca block the Baron would have been considered "decent" to "must buy 4x" and that's without the win-more ability.
Saying that he wouldn't line the inside of a birdcage seems really unfair to the card. Compare the Baron to cards that really aren't worth anything: mudhole or one with nothing. Heck, compare the Baron to 5 cc cards at common or common and tell me that the Baron isn't any good. At the very least it will be a bomb in limited and decent in EDH. It won't make it in standard sure, but its far from complete trash. I can think of a worse mythic to open (*cough*Archangel's Light*cough*).
There is something seriously wrong then they make a card that should have been mono-black in red/white... Yes, I am talking about Release...
Totally agree. I came into the ravnica block really excited but by the end I am just about quitting the game based on stupid stuff like this. I can't remember a time when sacrifice was on a white aligned card. It just feels wrong. If wizards can't even follow their own rules of the color pie why should I keep playing? Black gets sacrifice white gets exile. That is just how it is. If it had been rakdos or golgari I would have been ok with it but not boros. Not even orzhov to be honest. In orzhov I want exile and kill not sac.
Edit: let me refrase that. Sacrifice on a white card as a form of removal against the other person. Their are a lot of white cards that require you to sac for their cost. Actually just did a gatherer search and this will be the first white card that makes them sac.
MD - I am thinking about Tragic Slip... I like it and think maybe it deserves a MD slot. But I dont know what to take out. In general, I feel as though I dont have enough instant speed removal. My first thought is to drop the Rakdos Returns, but I feel it has turn the tide and won me games against both aggro and control. Are 25 lands too much? Maybe I could take that down to 24...
SB - I think I need Rolling Temblor in there... maybe in place of Bonfire? Or maybe 1 of each? What are people's thoughts on Magmaquake? I like the instant speed. The need for RR in the casting cost might be tricky at times, though.
I would agree that you need slip. If you have aggressive decks that use x/1 or dorks slip wins games because they fumble early. unless you are really afraid of walkers i would say dreadbore is useless alot of the time. I just don't like the loss it gives you having to remove on your turn. I grew up (magically) with doom blade and i say it's good enough.

i love doom blade. but its not in standard, so i cant use it. i always like to have 3 cards in my deck to deal with walkers, so Dreadbore works. but yeah, tragic slip is going in for sure. rolling temblor will go in the SB too
Then I can put Scion of Darkness and Urborg Justice back in my Clerics deck, and take out all the discard because it'll be casual again.
So, I never knew Urborg Justice existed, and I really want it for a couple of my EDH decks. In some of my decks where sacrificing critters isnt an issue at all, that can be a one sided wrath.
So in other news, with my summer getting closer, my crew and I have begun brewing modern and standard for FNMs. I'm working on Jund in Modern now, but am also building Gruul with a white Splash. Funny enough, after cleaning out my box of rares and sleeving and bindering all my rares, I have come to the conclusion that most modern decks are within my reach to build. In fact, I can probably finish any given proven modern deck for about 40 bucks, so I am not complaining. Since the one place near me started doing modern every Thursday night, I might have to test that out.
EDIT: So, Thread wise. We never did get around to moding the thread for Gatecrash. So what about Dragon's Maze? Im putting Debt to the Deathless up for nomination if we can find big art for it. Its not Mono-Black, but we dont have much to work with this time.

There's not many options, but I think both Blood Scrivener and Pontiff of Blight are good ones. Debt to the Deathless does have really good artwork though.
Incidentally, Pontiff and Debt both were done by the same artist.

I vote pontiff. I already have it as my desktop wallpaper and it looks sexy
The thread title has to be "Who needs Dark Confidant when you have [Blood Scrivener]?" We'll just have to go with the new clan name until M14 comes out.
SA ,when you can have a word with me? pm would be best way
I smell a conspiracy... :fry::fry::fry::fry:
Anyway, does anyone know how many sleeved decks a fat pack box can hold? I've been using a New Phyrexia booster box to hold my black decks and well, lets just say its falling apart.
Or, more specifically, can a fat pack box hold six 60 card decks and one EDH deck?

in sleeves I put 2 60s and boards and 1 edh into a fatpack box. Their was a bit of room left but not enough to fit in another deck. Your looking at 2-3 fatpack boxes.
Now when my regular travel stock grew I upgraded to fishing tackle. It sounds weird but I was able to pick up a fishing box that had dividers that could move. I easily fit 8-9 decks in it with a section left over for dice and counters. Check your local wal mart or outdoor supply shop. They should have something. $10 and I never had to worry about which decks I was bringing cause I just brought them all.

A simple Fat Pack box, as in the one box, holds 3 sleeved decks. Two if they are double sleeved. 1 and a half if thats a double sleeved commander deck. Thats what I use when I go places.
What you can look into if your interested is one of those Holiday Pack boxes. I can fit about 12 sleeved EDH decks into one of those.

Thanx. How big are they? (Not a reference to anything else :p:nod:)

8-10" I'd say. I'm looking at one but am too lazy to fetch a ruler.
Ehh...I'll look into it. Thanx.
I do admit, they aren't the best for travel, as its kind of bulky if your like me and carry a small bag. Plus all the decks weight is concentrated in that box, making weight distribution a bit of an issue.
That sounded way to scientific. Just go with it. Science is cool. Much like bow ties.
EDIT: So since you guys were wondering why Russian Alara was asking me. He made that forum in his link and was inquiring about specialists. I got seduced into modding the Standard stuff. I haven't really played much standard in a while, at least not like I used to. But you can say I'm jumping in head first. Started writing some primers. When they're done, I'll have to link to them for yins. We could always use some help getting things running too.

Do clans exist on that site? The first attempt to spread cells across the internet wasn't super successful, but another attempt might be worth it.

We can do the Pontiff since we have that art. Or we can add Blood Scrivener and add to the irony of our title and that its not Dark Confidant.
I know it's not a great card, but it would work fantastically in my Clerics deck if it were a cleric.
