Went to the SCG Open this past weekend. Didn't do very well, but my round 1 in legacy was glorious.
My Smallpox v RUG Delver. It's a very good matchup for me but he does win game 2. Game 3, he hits Cursed Scroll and Mishra's Factory with Surgical Extraction, leaving me with zero cards left that can deal damage and excising 5 cards from my library. However, I destroyed every land in his deck that could produce colored mana. At game's end, I have a Liliana with over 20 counters, there are no cards in either library, and I win the match because he was on the draw and drew as many extra cards as he had removed from my library.
On the art issue, I am quite fond of Pharika's Cure, it is quite beautiful, yet dark and mysterious. For the name I am liking the first idea more as well, but I will try to see if I can conjure something better.
Who's going to the prerelease this weekend? More importantly, who's running black as their colored pack?
I almost picked red today when I preregistered, but I stuck with black. Our color looks like its built for the late game, which I'm weary of since we run the risk of getting run over early by or having to face green's brute force late game. Green's creatures look huge this set
On the other hand, all of our rares look like limited bombs. Well except nighthowler...watch me open like 3 of them this Saturday
I actually think black has a lot going for it. Thoughtseize, the black that makes harpies, the draw scry card, the gray merchant. Only problem is it seems slow though hopefully the entire format is slow as a whole.
So, just came home from a Theros pre-release, where I took the Path of Ambition. I went 4-2, which annoys me a bit since the two rounds I lost I both went 0-2 due to a severe mana screw (as in not drawing the right colour of mana) or a severe mana flood.
Anyway, this was my sealed pool:
Personally I am quite happy with how the deck went and worked, if you have ideas on how I could have improved it, it would be nice to hear. However I don't think any improvements would have mattered a lot in match-ups, since I manascrewed by only drawing mountains or only drawing swamps, or I simply just mana-flooded. All of my losses were not games, they were butcherings with me being the helpless victim... Yes, I chose not to play Unknown Shores, but I deemed them too slow, and who knows, might not have drawn them anyway.
3 of my victories were 2-0 within 15 minutes of playtime and the other was 2-1 after 20 minutes of playtime, where my opponent topdecked the only card that could save him in the game he won, some sort of pump spell.

So what were your key cards, in the deck, also how fast does the format seem so far?
@coolkid, the key cards were the ordeals and the marauder (seriously, that guy steals games when you play him) and so far the format seems like it is either very fast (I usually won in 4 or 5 turns) or very slow. It is like there is no midgame, either someone tramples people over in the first 5 or 6 turns, or people almost go time throwing bombs at eachother creating a massive board stall. But as limited, it sure is tons of fun.

I am not a standard player, but I think I will include Hero's Downfall in my modern MBC deck, probably replacing Victim of Night. I have not gotten any of them yet though, but they are working as intended when I try to proxy them in.

Why would you be disappointed with Nighthowler?
