What are your thoughts on Killing Wave if I went with a more control/removal kind of thing? Would it be a good investment?
If you're trying to kill them with poison, including a card that makes them pay life will be near meaningless. Particularly as it is a symmetric effect and they will most likely be attacking your life total leaving you less able to keep your own creatures.
Killing Wave is basically designed to go with the recursive zombie theme of Innistrad block. You can just not pay for Gravecrawlers and Geralf's Messengers, get your Messenger back with undying, replay your Gravecrawler, and probably kill them with Blood Artist triggers.

I would agree with the first point fully. damnation or defiantly black sun's zenith are your best bets for sweepers. life means nothing if your not hitting their life total as a win con.
Secondly killing wave is just bad. I actually played it in zombies and it didn't do much. I could never trigger more then 1 messenger and their was no reason to purposely hit my crawlers outside of blood artist but that's a lot of setup and at the time I was content to use other forms of sacrifice (mortapod).

Very true. That version of the deck was short-lived, but was certainly the card's intended home.
Hey guys, I updated the first post. Since we are keeping threads a bit longer than we used to, I have implemented some changes to membership. Nothing formal really. In the old system of 4 threads/year, when we got a new thread we demoted everyone who went inactive or very close to it in the previous thread. Since we changed that, I opted to demote a few members who only have a few posts here or there, and who's posts aren't recent (say, within the past three months). Going foreward, I'll keep better tabs on member activity and probably go as far as updating it the first of every month.
Not confirmed for M14 only confirmed for DOTP. It dose look very good that it will be in. If it dose get printed the price will explode. It is perfect goyf hate for modern and it stands to become the new green bear.

Actually it was confirmed on magic Facebook today.
Actually it was confirmed on magic Facebook today.
You mean on starcity where the caption says "This card is confirmed for Duels of the Planeswalkers 2014, and NOT YET for Magic 2014. Confirmation for M14 will be accomapnied by a new image."
ya I saw it too. If you look it is a mock up of probably using magic set editor. It doesn't have the number within the set on it. Thus not officially confirmed.
Also just lpooked on the magic facebook page and nowhere did it say it was confimed. If you can like where you see it confirmed please link. I would love to confirm it.
Liliana's Reaver and Grim Return look fun, even if they're not legacy all stars (lets face it legacy is the only tournament constructed format worth playing :p)
Rise of the Dark Realms is Liliana Vess's ultimate.
Hi guys, sorry for my pretty damn long absence. I've been plagued by personal problems and had no time whatsoever for Magic but I think everything went back to normal now. How are the things around here? What did you guys think of Dragon's Maze? I didn't draft it but it looks pretty cool. I was happy to see some goodies in M14 (always liked drafting core sets) but I am more excited about Modern Masters to be honest, even though I don't particularly dig the format.
Also, it's good to see some familiar faces still around and Dechs, really liked the new avatar, kudos for that

Thanks, yo. I'm quite proud of the design I asked for, and Ace did a fantastic job with it.
M14 looks like it's going to be fun. That new Relentless Rats of a Cleric is going to be the basis of a Pauper EDH deck for me. I'm going to run it with Cabal Archon as the general. Seems strong.

"[Screw] you and the green you ramped in on." - My EDH battle cry. If I had one. Which I don't.

I drafted dragon maze a bit. It felt really thrown together. the cards didn't sync up as far as I am concerned. like say you open up a dragon maze pack and pull an amazing orzhov card. You go orzhov and build a decent deck. then when you get to rtr pack you find very little in the way of support since orzhov wasn't in that pack. now your stretching into 3 colors just to make pick from whatever pack your two colors aren't in. Maybe I'm doing it wrong maybe this is a terrible set to draft not sure.

Normal is good! Things have been fairly quiet around here.
Dragon's Maze is... mostly bad. I have a feeling that will keep the value on Voice of Resurgence up. I've also been watching Michael Jacobs draft it a bit and it looks like a poor draft format as well.
In other news, got a package via Deutsche Post!
German cards have the greatest names. I need to keep watching eBay to see if I can get a complete playset of Zwang.

Yeah, I kinda thought that was a problem and didn't really like the set so I didn't invest in it. To be perfectly honest, I was really let down by GTC and wasn't excited about drafting again a Ravnica block.

Indeed, normal is quite good! I've had a snowball of problems lately and it seemed to only grow but it always work out (kinda) in the end.
It seems that almost everyone agrees on that: it was a very poor draft set and that makes me sad because I dislike playing non-eternal formats other than Limited.
I also dig German cards and those are really cool additions to the collection. Kudos, rest
And I certainly prefer old Bob art as I won a playset from a tournament so it's dear to me but I will buy MM packs like crazy to see if I can get a few of the new one; it looks quite good too.
personally as far as confidant is concerned I feel like the art is amazing but it was wasted on dark confidant. You can change the art on naturalize a million times and it is still naturalize but to change the art on such a well known card that has existed for so long, well, they had to have known that it would cause an uprising. I feel the same way with solemn and mage. the arts were great but wasted on those cards because of their origins.
Hello, I'm the big boss of the Clan here. If you look to the first post of the clan, you'll see that you have to submit a good and concise Mono Black list for our members to critique. If we view the deck as good enough, we will let you into our ranks as a Minion. Do your time there (50 posts) and you get to be a full time member, or Disciple of the clan.
Hope to see more of you around here. We are pretty easy to get along with.
Ok buddy i'll post my decklist. I'm almost finished getting the rest of my Pox build together! Ordering x4 sinkhole's burned a HUGE hole in my pocket.

Well, another Pox lover? Chili will be pleased Looking forward to your list. I play Contamination-Pox because Sinkholes (and other important parts of traditional Pox) are a bit too expensive for me. I /sacrifice /salute you.
Edit: On a Magic note, I really liked the new dragon recently spoiled. It fits very well with my monored Dragon casual deck
Edit 2: Albeit not Black, I must say that I liked Plasm Capture and I am actually surprised that WotC decided to print such a powerful counterspell even with its forbidding manacost.
This is the rough draft of what I want to run at the game day this weekend. you will notice that it is 3 cards short. This is where I need help. Are their any cards I shouldn't use? (don't just say all the stuff thats not black.) And what should the last three slots be? Also when you look at the lands i can get 1 more of the 4 duals if I strip them from edhwhat do you think I should do for lands? need to know by friday so i can finalize the deck for saturday.

Getting at least one more Overgrown Tomb seems prudent. If you're happy with how the rest of the list is, adding a combination of Cremate/Appetite for Brains may be useful and keeps the mana costs down. Smiter as your only white card looks off, but I'm sure it opens up your sideboard options quite a bit.

Sin collector and the extort enchantment in the board mostly. And i agree on the tomb. Smiter is beastly because i discard to troll then he gives 4 counters for 3 mana so 5 counters total.
I agree with therestless' position and I will add some food for thought: won't Lotv work in that deck? It's an engine to discard some creatures and a walking Edict. Maybe it's a tad off the curve and if it doesn't work as expected, I understand why.
Other than that, discard or removal seems fine for the remaining slots and the Tomb just in case. How's your meta? Control heavy?
