Just finished building all the multimedia part of my PC. You should hear the sound it pulls out! Now my anime watching will always be 5.1, even if it says the sound is 2.0 on the dvd/blu-ray box.

Casual crazy magic player, otaku maniac, unrully cosplayer, what did you expect me to be?
That feel when you realize you haven't posted in here in a geological age because work's been that brutal. And the only anime-related stuff I've really done lately has been watching/reading things on my breaks. Bleh.
That said, investing some of my newfound income into a tablet for just such occasions has proven to be one of my more sound decisions lately.
Just finished watching Eureka 7: AO. It had some really cool moments and some good ideas but overall it feels like Bones decision making and overall quality were much lower than I expected. Anyone else have thoughts on AO, particularly in comparison to Bones other works?
I... haven't actually watched AO so I comment on that.
Finished putting together the songs for the "name that song" event I am running at Overload this weekend. We're getting Range Murata as the guest, so it should be pretty exciting. 3 more sleeps to go~
Well, Overload happened yesterday. Seemed like a LOT more people showed up this year than last. Got my stuff signed by Range Murata, and enjoyed the live drawing sessions. One thing I noticed is that every second artist table had some sort of Shingeki stuff on it. I knew it was popular, but sheesh.
That was a really good last episode of Railgun S2. EVERYONE gets a cameo except like Komoe sensei... Even the space elevator from the Index movie gets a cameo.
I know, I know... not everyone from the universe gets a cameo like everyone from the magic side, Index, Tsuchimikado, Tsuchimikado's sister, Kanzaki, Stiyl, etc. didn't show up, but a lot of people were there. Misaka & co. must have called in hella favors to get like the whole of Judgment there... So what if we can't get Anti-skill, we still have Judgment! Even if there were like... no ability users amongst them. When I saw Mii by her lonesome at the end of ep 23, I was like... what the heck is she going to do by herself?!? I was a little disappointed at the lack of screen time Wanrai and Awatsuki got to show off their powers... Guess they're saving it for Season 3 during the school festival. Like the end of S1, I was thinking that Saten and her baseball bat were going to do wonders. Instead she gets to pilot Kongou Airlines' Gundam/Transformer thing...
Like with the Index movie, it felt like there was a lot of deus-ex machina stuff they pulled. However, with the way the episode flowed and the whole theme of 'friendship make everything possible', the deus-ex just seemed to flow more naturally than in the Index movie. 'Oh hey, we analyzed Meltdowner's powers to make these awesome new weapons.' Followed by Meltdowner herself coming in all tsundere to blast everything to bits was awesome. The Gundam popping in was pretty deus-ex as was Haruue and Edasaki coming in to patch comms. Misaka talking the people into bending was also pretty deus ex...
So the fall season is descending upon us. I'm keeping up with Monogatari, and picking up LB Refrain and Magi S2, but beyond that all the stuff I'm looking at is pure speculation. Anyone have any interesting stuff to pick up for fall?
I'm currently looking at
Kyoukai no Kanata
Strike the Blood
Log Horizon
Ore no Nounai Sentakushi ga, Gakuen Love Comedy wo Zenryoku de Jama S hiteiru(because apparently s-hit in a word is a no-go)
Finally finished Maoyuu and OreShura... Feels like Maoyuu was super rushed and skipped across time quite a bit... Loved the premise from episode 1, but the rest of the series felt poorly executed... If there's a manga out there, I will likely read it... OreShura left you hanging, which maybe means a S2... I'm hoping, but like with Maoyuu, if there's a manga, I will likely read it.
"A rich man thinks all other people are rich, and an intelligent man thinks all other people are similarly gifted. Both are always terribly shocked when they discover the truth of the world. You, my dear brother, are a pious man." - Strahd von Zarovich

Neither are getting sequels because of terrible BD sales.
IMO the best thing about Maoyuu was the way they dealt with time. For a show about farming, trade, and diplomacy/war it was really appropriate. Then they slapped on some T&A for fun and everyone cried tears of blood because TITS ARE WRONG.
Also, nothing about Kill la Kill yet? Best show this season hands down.

Hey, lolis with katanas are awesome, and I don't care about their home country.
Hard to say that when most of them aren't out yet. I'm holding off on watching it until my friend is free this weekend. About to dive into the new KyoAni work. I've heard very differing opinions, but the general feel I got was watch it if you like KyoAni. After being very disappointed with Free!, I hope this is better.
i like them referencing the movie...now we know a rough timeline for the raildex-verse
Timeline goes:
Railgun S1 happens before Index S1 and begins overlaying Index S1 around episode 17 (where Komoe-sensei complains about her roof being blown up). Railgun S2 continues into the Index S1 overlay with the sisters arc, but it's unclear whether Railgun S2 ever goes beyond Index S1. If Railgun gets another season, I'm pretty sure Railgun S3 will overlay Index S2 for the school festival. As for the movie, Railgun S2 clearly happens before the destruction of the space elevator in the movie. I don't recall ever seeing or hearing anything about the space elevator in Index S2 tho so it's not clear if the movie happens before, during or after Index S2...
And I really am hoping for an Index S3 because that would just be awesome.

JC staff has hit the biggest pool of money they've ever hit with index. They will milk that cow and the followup to Index until the end of time.
EDIT: Assassination Classroom and Shokugeki no Soma are both pretty good shounens I've been enjoying.
Have you investiged weather a third party service can send it to you from Japan?
That's exactly what I did, but like I said, I'll probably use the other site next time. Anyways, the shipment is now stuck in customs (and has been there for about three weeks now), so the troubles just keep coming.
At least I got more time to finish more of my backlog, now that I've written my job task and am just waiting for the verdict. Hataraku, Gin no Saji and Shingeki were all great to the very end, and I can't wait for all of them to get their second seasons.
So, Fall, huh? The season has already begun, so I'm a bit late with this, but here's a RandomC preview, anyways: http://randomc.net/2013/09/18/fall-2013-preview/
And my own expectations for the season (man, I'm not even sure I'll be able to watch it all):
- Coppelion (the plotline sounds quite fresh, but I hope there will be more Chernobyl-ish weirdness and less cute schoolgirls doing cute things)
- Kyoukai no Kanata (the first episode was... okay, I guess, but I'm not sure the plot is going to be anything special)
- Kyousougiga (Finally, a proper TV series! I've been waiting for this for two goddamn years!)
- Nagi no Asukara (The promotion material reminds me of Shin Sekai Yori, which was one of the best shows of last year, but it might be more about drama and romance than suspense and mystery)
- Outbreak Company (One of the shows I might skip entirely, but the premise sounds too silly to not give it a try)
- Kill la Kill (GIANT! RED! TEXT!!! Imaishi is back, baby!)
- BlazBlue Alter Memory (I don't have any hopes for this, but I feel like I have to watch it simply because I love the games)
- Galilei Donna (Action mixed with cute girls? Eeeh, it's noitaminA, so it might be better than it seems right now)
- Samurai Flamenco (I'm getting Tiger & Bunny vibes, with great potential of going even deeper into the whole "Manchildren in superhero suits" theme. This is going to be so great!)
- Kakumeiki Valvrave 2 (Oh boy, the greatest ride of the year is back! Fasten your seat belts, lads!)
Log Horizon seems good, holding some expectations of Magi since I'm reading it's manga, Gingitsune looks good, Unbreakable Machine-doll could be fun, Tokyo Ravens seems fine.
I will start watching them when they will be fully fanlated (fan+translated, for those who would like to ask) since it could take a while for them to come out to the North American continent. Still got to finish watching what I got from my first anime convention.

Gingitsune was fun. Kind of like Natsume Yujinchou. I hope it doesn't end up being stupid and pointless like Our Home's Fox Deity. Shows like this tend to be a lot more interesting when they bother trying to dig a bit deeper than LOL JAPANESE SPIRIT FITE.
Sekai de Ichiban Tsuyoku Naritai! was probably the most stupid thing I've seen in a while. I literally hit the mute button in the middle of the fights. I don't want my neighbors to think I'm watching porn in the middle of the day O_o
Log Horizon was a nice take on .hack. Although I don't like how they get stuck up on the guild thing. If you suddenly got stuck in a game world you'd be less hung up on that sort of stuff. It seems like the writers wanted to avoid going that step further and trying to make the characters actually behave like they've been placed in a crisis.

Wait wut. Why not just stream them.

Didn't Aniplex kind of completely rewrite some stuff at the end of the first season? I just sort of lost interest at that point.
My Mental Issues/NoKoume walked that thin line between terrible rom com pantsu and Porn mag sniffing gag awesomeness. Didn't think it would be worth watching but it was a blast.

Also managed to sign up for kancolle (kantai collection) last night. The ship has sailed.
