its so sad when its gotten to the point to where people just randomly bash other people for no good reason. Its not cool, it makes you look like a douche bag. how would you feel if you bashed someone on here, and outside of the internet they really have no friends, and they killed themselves. it makes me sick to even think about things like that. this needs to stop now, cause now i'm starting to see what people mean when they say "MTGS is a joke and run by children who dont care"
It's funny because the way he presents his argument is slanderous and unintelligent, which would explain why he's bashing control, which takes a good amount of thinking to pilot.
OT though, yeah, it sucks that people still make vapid arguments like that, full of namecalling and other such useless derogatory drivel, but it's not going to stop happening. Yes, it's also sad that people take those comments far too seriously and do very drastic thing about it, such as suicide. But I don't see that comment ending in that conclusion. If it was something more comparable to the facebook hazing that resulted in the suicide of that teenage girl a year or so ago then yeah, it would be a different story. But some guy posting a dickish paragraph in a magic forum isn't the same thing. Should it still happen, no. Should the guy get an infraction, possibly, but I don't make those calls. I think the best answer for anything you read on the internet that might be seen as inflammatory is to take them with a grain of salt. Brush the guy off, report it if it gets any worse and move on with the conversation.

You're doing the same thing he is.

I'm not sure how a single flaming post means that this place is full of bullies. Report it, and move on. That seemed really blatant, and I'd be surprised if moderators didn't take action there. Someone who continues to act that aggressive and insulting isn't going to be hanging around here long, though. You ever read the Suspended/Banned Users List? I do. Guys get kicked off here all the time. Some users learn to be insulting just nicely enough to get away with it, but watered down attacks like that are usually easy enough to brush off.
Please see my signature. While some posters may be abrasive, creating threads bemoaning their existence does not curb the problem.
Honestly, I find your sig is quite disparaging. Is it really to be taken seriously? I thought it was a comedic tidbit poking fun at the internet and it's inhabitants.

That is such a nice way to call me stupid <3.
Also for all of you not following the thread. You might wanna check the rest of it. Because i'm sure i was mocked(like the above in this thread lol) quite a few times before i decided to give it back. Oh, well can't win them all. I love people who dish it out but can't take it. It's also kind of funny the that one person that was arguing with 4-5 people is the "bully". You guys made my day thank you so much
why would you even say something like that? its people like who are the reason for cyber bullying. its easy to talk big when you dont have a face. dude, this this was by far one of the most ignorant statement i've ever heard used as a rebuttal. so you good sir, and an ******* and need to sit in time out.

Calling someone a Commie is flaming and must be stopped, but turning the word Conservative into a loaded pejorative and using it over and over again is perfectly acceptable.

My mind says B but my heart says D.
Since when did flaming become bullying? Flamers are flamers, and they get infractions. Report the post and move on. Why is it shocking that there are jerks on the internet?
I just received a PM from another member telling me that I should not tell people how long I've been playing this game, that it detracts from my message.
On the contrary, an opinion from somebody playing a long time should be weighed heavier because of their experience.
But that's not the point.
How DARE anybody tell me how I should conduct myself at this forum as long as I'm not breaking any forum rules, being rude to other members, or just flat out acting like a jackass.
Since this thread was started, I am now going to speak my mind because enough is enough.
I am 54 years old and old enough to be the father to a lot of the kids here.
Some of the people in this forum are total jackasses the way they behave to other members.
Bullying?
That's a nice word for it and I for one am sick of it. I am so tempted to just PM a mod and tell him to delete my account.
For the most part, I enjoy it here...sometimes. But there usually isn't a day that goes by that somebody doesn't act like a total ass to me or another member.
I've been around long enough (yes, I'm 54 and playing this game 18 years and if you don't like me mentioning it, tough cookies) to understand the herd mentality of bullies, especially at forums. You think you're cool and you think you're tough because you can hide behind a PC screen.
All you are, are big cowards with big mouths and anger issues.
In short, you're a jackass.
In the future, if I am not spoken to with the respect that I deserve as another human being, I will report your post, PM, or whatever, to the mods.
And if the admins have a problem with my voicing of my opinion in the manner in which I did, they are more than welcome to delete my account.
Because enough is enough.
Flaming is not allowed. Infraction issued.

Hey LandboySteve. I'm 40, so you aren't the only enduring this stigma that comes with being an older MTG player.
Each one of us frequents different forums and subforums on this board. Your perception of this board depends on which forums you frequent. If the only boards you frequent are Rumor Mill, Standard, and Debate, then you probably think this forum is full of elitists. If you are like me and frequent MTG Casual, Music, and MTG General, then you probably think this forum is full of nice people.

Good point. Yeah, I seem to hang out with all the elitists.
On the contrary, an opinion from somebody playing a long time should be weighed heavier because of their experience.
Well, that's what you think. Sadly, no one cares how much longer you've been playing. Your opinion isn't validated because of it.

How DARE some uptight parent act surprised that there is offensive material on the internet. I am shocked, SHOCKED I tell you!
I'll do you one better, how dare anyone tell me how to act, period. The people who run websites can't actually punish you, it's been open season since inception.
Trolling after a moderator requests that people talk about the issue and not the people is not allowed. Infraction issued. Also, I am incredibly uptight.

I thought the main reason anyone frequented these boards was to hear other people's opinion. That isn't to say that their opinion coincides with yours, it just offers another perspective on a topic.
It may be obvious, but magic philosophy is not the same for everyone.Of course there's Timmy, Johnny and Spike, but there are a thousand subcategories besides. It should be expected that a few of those philosophies are polar opposite of one another and will most likely clash on these boards at one point in time.
However the important thing to remember is all you're contributing is your opinion on a topic about a card game. You can't force people to understand how you play the game and likewise the shouldn't force you. However, that being said there is a civil way to try get someone to change there opinions and that is by trying to logically explain your mtg philosophy.
Anyways, for most users this is probably obvious, and I always thought that for the most part the community here is well behaved.

You mean that's the extent at which you are able to discuss on the matter.
i read this before seeing his new sig, his old sig was a lot less enlightening for situations like this
Ignoring them is probably the best option since they probably just want attention.
then report them if it's something bad.
that's something that I've sadly struggled to learn and only done so recently
