I've been working on perfecting my Sharuum list, but Sydri seems fun to play as well. I was wondering which is generally considered stronger in a 4-man cell?
Sharuum is definitely a tier one combo-commander. If you're asking for pure power: sharuum the hegemon
If you ask for fun: I would rather play sydri, galvanic genius
This pretty much nails it. Having Sharuum as a commander recurring artifacts every time he is cast is very hard to deal with and very easy to combo off with. A few other players in my league already had Sharuum and I decided to go for Sydri and she is a lot of fun. She is less about infinite combos and more about strong synergies. She enables life gain shenanigans, land destruction (with Mycosynth Lattice), tutoring things into play (with Arcum Dagsson) and causing collateral damage from board wipes (Supreme Verdict? Sure, dump your swords while you are at it.)
I'm for Sydri. She's more fun in general. Friend got one deck and is really fun to play against. I'm thinking about making one.
And Sharuum is lame, infinite combos and no fun at all.
So, I would state it this way:
less-competitive/fun group - go for Sydri
high competitive group - Sharuum
