I have an idea for a unique deck (as far as I know). The general will be Zedruu, and I want to set up as many confusing rules questions as possible in one deck. The goal of the deck is to make each opponent it plays call a judge over.

I'm looking for weird or confusing game states I can set up in these colors. I need cards that interact with each other in strange and unintuitive ways.


So far I have:
Swords to Plowshares + Char-Rumbler
Opalescence
Humility
March of the Machines
Manlands (with the above)
All the clone effects
Summoner's Bane + Bifurcate + Illusion

What are the strangest scenarios you can come up with in these colors?

First things first, this will probably be entertaining for the other players for a while, but eventually the table will get fed up and probably just kill you. Still, it'd probably be hilarious and worth it.

You definitely have to play the cards that totally screw with the rules of Magic. Example: Raging River. That'll definitely throw some people for a loop.

If you're already trolling, I hear Shahrazad + Burning Wish is a bizarre interaction that will make people hate you.

I didn't think you could wish from a "higher" game. Though I admit, if you can, wishing a spell as it's resolving from another game is pretty crazy. If this can be done, do players actually lose life when the subgame ends?

Related to face-down cards, if you really want to troll, you can go Kormus Bell + Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth + Ixidron.

If you've got Shahrazad in there you're obligated to run Fork and all his friends, just cause. And for maximum rules-trolling, you must also run Opalescence and Humility. Ideally with Parallax Wave to switch timestamps around too.

Don't forget Warp World, Thieve's Auction, Confusion in the Ranks, and Scrambleverse.

We're really not even going to bring up banding and phasing? I mean come on those abilities have made grown judges cry in impotent frustration.

I'm making this deck, it seems like loads of fun. Primary Wincon: head bursting.
Requesting: Cards you don't want on your side of the battlefield, and any permanent that switches P/T.

Vanish into Memory + Char-Rumbler= FFFUUUUU

Oh and don't forget Dominating Licid. Just because of how absurdly annoying it is to try to kill one. Lightning Bolt? He's an enchantment now. Disenchant? He's a creature again. Terminate? Untap him (there's tons of ways), sorry not a legal target anymore.

If you make your deck 5c, you can just add Ink-Treader Nephilim and cast basically anything unusual on it.
Especially cards with multiple targets that can be both it, since nowhere is there clear rules on how both targets of the copies are assigned (It is typically said both targets stay the same and there is one copy per creature, but there is no official word afaik, and that fact would make a judge cry.) Good example: Soul's Fire. (Specifically, search that here and read so many pages of arguing about it.)
Or just use the aforementioned Vanish into Memory on it, which isn't terribly confusing, but super funny.

How does Summoner's Bane + Bifurcate + Illusion work?

Bifurcate says target nontoken creature and to search your library for a permanent, doesn't it? And the old text doesn't mention names, so that doesn't work either.

Eye of the Storm, Hive Mind and Knowledge Exploitation are a fun combo to try out.

Realistically though, all you'd need is something that you have covered in your first post, Humility.

And Godhead of Awe makes for a nice second Humility, though it's nowhere near as fun with Opalescence.

In regards to phasing, vanishing is a good inclusion simply because it does so many unintuitive things that work out so well for you people think you're making this up.

Vanishing on your general. He phases out. During your upkeep, he phases out. No, he doesn't enter the battlefield. No, he doesn't leave the battlefield. Try to kill him in response? I'll activate Vanishing's ability again. Try to naturalize the Vanishing? I'll phase your general out in response, it brings Vanishing with it. It seems even more unfair if he has any good equipment like loxodon warhammer attached at the time.

Hive Mind + Knowledge Pool + Twincast or any other spell copying effect.

How can we talk about a troll deck when no one has mentioned Grip of Chaos? And just because you can, Burning Inquiry + Hive Mind. Might as well run Pact of the Titan/Intervention Pact to combo off with Hive Mind too.

Rite of Replication+Precursor Golem+Twincast

As long as you're going for weird cards, Naked Singularity and its counterpart Reality Twist are excellent inclusions for their many strange interactions.

The 3 lands that allow your general to band if they are red blue or white respectively. They were back in legends and i don't remember what they're called. But thats one easy way to have some fun

More Upside down card goodness! If you're going for confusion, why not do Illusionary Mask and donate the creature you summoned? Once understood, it's not too confusing ^^".

just saying ink treader says something that only targets it. soul fire targets two things. so.... not much of a debate

i really do wonder what happens with the negative power and vanish into memory. anyone know?

About Char-Rumbler, you just round everything up to 0 if he's negative. He deals 0 damage if he attacks without a pump and you'll draw 0 cards off of Vanish into Memory.

By the way, Force of Savagery if you're looking for just strange cards, though it probably won't get them to call a judge over...

Would these be legal in a deck not running all five colors? Normally I would say no, but since the arguments of color identification have sprung up over two faced cards I've become confused.

EDIT: Also, I have a question about Eye of the Storm. When its effect is triggered, do you HAVE to copy every spell exiled by Eye of the Storm? It says you MAY play the copy, but that was after it requires player to copy said spell. I r confuzzled.

Here is my favorite wierd rules interaction.

You control a wolf token equiped with, lets say Sword of Body and Mind. You target the token with Reality Ripple. Both the token, and the equipment phase out, and the token dissapears due to SBAs. You now have a permanently phased out Sword of Body and Mind.

There's actually a deck out there called the "Judge Breaker" that is nothing but confusing, convoluted, and bizarre card interactions.
