Recently I have trying to test out a voltron style deck on cockatrice using Sygg, River Guide as my general, so that I may build him in real life. He was getting decent results and I was looking forward to putting him together in real life until I started to look at the prices of the artifact equips that it needed. Recently the Sword prices, SoFI, SoLaS, and SoFaF, have shot past the 20$ and even up to 50$. I’m not to stingy when it comes to spending cash on EDH but I would much rather set my individual card price limit to around 15 to 18 depending on the card.
So now I am at a conundrum, I enjoy the voltron style play but need to find away to stay away from the swords and its expensive tutor Stoneforge Mystic. My recent conclusion is to try and make an Enchantment based voltron deck and so I ask of you to help me choose a new general to fit that theme and recommend some cards that could help out the enchantment voltron style.
So general options:
1. Uril, the Miststalker: Well obvious general is obvious and I have personally seen this general wreck face before. A major issue though is that he draws a ridiculous amount of hate and will probably be gunned down before he gets his ball rolling. Also the deck revolves around him to heavily, and with no blue to help out I fear tuck effects could really shut him down. 2. Zur the Enchanter: Oh well if Uril gets target put on his head, Zur gets a target the size of a football stadium stuck on his. Its sad but I really enjoy his ability and he is in great colors to do enchant voltron. I know Zur is a house in 1v1, but since I mainly play Multiplayer I worry he is just too good for his own good. 3. Rafiq of the Many: He can play a mean Voltron style if he wanted too but I feel that if I went that route with him I would much rather have artifact equips than auras. Phenomenal colors for the style but he too brings a lot of hate his way, but a part of me feels like he could handle it.
Most of my suggestions have been for Tri colored generals, but for the most part I really only enjoy playing Dual Colored generals (I eventually want to build 1 deck for each colored pair). So any and all suggestions would be welcome, but if you can think of a dual-colored gen or even a tri-colored that could fit this theme let me know.
Currently I have my eyes set on Hanna, Ship’s Navigator for the general. She’s cheap and works well with both artifacts and enchantments and can recur them if they get destroyed. Even though she is not that big, with enough enchants I feel like she could punch it out and she is in solid colors to do so. So any tips or other generals you can come up with would greatly be appreciated and I thank you for taking the time to read this.

Sounds great. Are there any other Enchantment Voltron Gens out there or have i listed the main one? Also while I like Uril and Rafiq, can they handle the amount the hate they get in a multiplayer game?

I vote you run Zur. I play mainly multi player and I love Zur. Sure, he gets a lot of hate, but for me the fun comes from surpassing the odds. Bring on the hate. Not only that but he builds the board slower that the other generals, so there is a chance that he won't seem like the biggest threat.
I have both Rafiq and Uril in my play group. I find that Uril draws more hate because he has shroud and given the right opportunity, one shot players by turn 4 or 5. Compared to Zur, these 2 decks are blasting out the gates, so unless someone is educated, they will get hate sooner.
Q: Zur, Uril, and Rafiq walk into a bar...
Experienced Bartender:
Target 1 - Zur
Target 2 - Whoever is swinging hard.
Unexperienced Bartender:
Whoever is swinging hardest and/or looks the most threatening.
Something to consider when building a 3 color deck is the mana base. It is probably going to be the most expensive part of the deck is you play the duals and fetches.
I have my deck in my sig if you are interesting in looking at what I run. You should also look at wtwlf123's Uril deck because that is what I am playing against and I think it is a solid build. You can find it in the deck database.
I totally tried the same thing awhile back...I converted my Brion Stoutarm deck into a Sygg, River Guide deck. Both were loosely based on equipment, and I figured that Sygg's landwalk and protection abilities would make him a great Voltron general...
Boy, was I wrong. That turned out to be one of the worst EDH games I've ever had. I got completely owned by a single Thopter Assembly, and I immediately put Brion back together.
If anyone's successfully made a good Sygg deck, I'd love to hear/read about it.
Uril, while similar to Zur, at least has to depend on a little bit of topdecking.
Rafiq is probably the most interesting, though also probably the weakest of the three.
It really depends on the play style you prefer. If you like control, then Zur is probably more appropriate. If you like some control with some aggro, then play Uril. And finally, if you don't care some much about control and just like the idea of raw beats, then play Rafiq.
Aura-based ones that aren't Uril (too easy) or Zur (just a jerk deck in general) tend to get blown out by a wrath or removal spell and losing 2-4 auras along with their creature. They have to include lots more card advantage to make up for the fact that they're always losing auras and it's really not a wise way to go if you want to be competitive often. If you just wanna have fun, by all means pack your Steel of the Godhead and Shield of the Oversoul and go to town. But consider an alternative:
You can play equipment voltron without the swords and SF mystic. As much as I love the swords myself, they're quite overrated in the sense that everyone labels them as autoincludes. You can win handily without them. Here's some budget-ish suggestions that will go a long way:
Tutors:
Stonehewer Giant, first of all, is much more powerful than Stoneforge in the format. And he's roughly 20 times less expensive. It's an auto-include in nearly every white deck. Pair with Argentum Armor for hilarity.
Enlightened Tutor is a bit pricey, but every white player should have one. He finds enchantments and artifacts. If you can trade a standard staple for one like an Inkmoth Nexus or something, pull dat trigger.
Godo, Bandit Warlord makes a fine voltron general in you want to try something unconventional and powerful. His combination of abilities lays down the hurt. He plays nice with Hoarding Dragon.
Equipments:
Loxodon Warhammer lays the beats and does it well. There's sexy new alt-art from the new duel deck as well.
Sword of Vengeance will give your general the combat edge almost every time.
Whispersilk Cloak is sick for voltrons that have combat damage effects like Thada Adel.
Lightning Greaves is obvious and you should pick one up before it gets more expensive anyway. Couple with Leonin Shikari and your whole team has shroud.
Mother of Runes is not an equipment but it's a great way to get damage through. A fine, inexpensive card. Glory is also quite good at this.
Skullclamp is fantastic and is not expensive (yet).
Grafted Wargear is a great power booster if your general already has some evasion. Can really put the pressure on opposing decks by shortening their clocks. Couple with Leonin Shikari and you have a sac outlet.
Basilisk Collar has some relevant lifegain for the right generals.
Quietus Spike is nasty on generals with evasion like Wydwen or Thada Adel.
I'm sure other users can think of more. But just know that you're handicapping yourself sticking to auras and you CAN build equipment voltron without breaking the bank.

Well the main reason I was proposing an enchantment Voltron style deck is because the of the lack of swords, but the other reason I should mention is that I am going to make a Brion Stoutarm deck that uses a lot of the other equipment that you have mentioned below. I understand that Aura’s can be a bit costly if you stack them too much, but that’s why I came here to see if there were any cards that work well with the enchantment voltron strategy.
It seems like Rafiq is a popular choice for a Tri –colored general and thank you all for the tips on what to put in his deck should I make him.
To be honest I think my words on the OP got a little muddled, I am trying to find other generals besides those three at the top to fit the Voltron enchantment theme, preferably in one of the Dual colored pairs. I apologize for not clearing it up sooner.

With Rafiq, Augury Adept, Blinding Angel (effect is cumulative), Trygon Predator, Cephalid Constable, Cold-Eyed Selkie, Thada Adel, Acquisitor, Sphinx Ambassador all get huge benefit from the double strike and a little power bonus.
Rancor is, of course, ridiculous for both decks.

Grafted Exoskeleton shortens the clock pretty quickly too...

Sitting around watching other games because no one wants to play your Zur or Azami hypercombofinish deck does get quite boring. OP, take heed.
