MTG Salvation

I'm brewing up a new deck with the idea of just turning everything off. After going through my collection here's what I have so far...

A decent start, but still need some help.

What I need...
1 - more of the "turn things vanilla" effects
2 - What commander to use (either something that directly supports the deck, or something 5 color)
3 - win-cons that function through all the shut down effects
4 - some way to turn off planeswalkers
5 - quality creatures that don't rely on ETB effects or activated abilities (in particular creatures with good triggered abilities or state based effects)

Seems like you want a Hanna, Ship's Navigator deck. And yes Humility does a ton of work. You don't have Blood Moon but you can use Enchanted Evening + Opalescence/Starfield of Nyx to kill all lands or Opalescence/Starfield of Nyx + Parallax Tide + Parallax Wave to kill all opponent's permanents. Dovescape (make non-creature spells "vanilla") is also nice for turning off spells once you have some locks in place.

1. Gaddock Teeg doesn't turn thing in play into vanilla things, but he does stop your opponents from playing a large portion of noncreatures, and in fact he generally prevents half of the noncreatures with the strongest effects. On the other hand, he affects you, too. Void Winnower also shuts down a bunch of potential spells, but doesn't affect you.
2. Child of Alara gives you a boardwipe in the command zone. Progenitus gives you a decently quick wincon and does so little it doesn't let your opponents do anything to it. Progenitus is to vanilla creatures as knurd is to drunkeness.
3. Token swarms, mostly.
4. Pithing Needle/Phyrexian Revoker, which you can also copy with things like Sculpting Steel, Copy Artifact, Phyrexian Metamorph, Clever Impersonator, or regular Clone effects for Revoker. If you turn the 'walker into a creature, of course (Enchanted Evening+Opalescence or Mycosynth Lattice+March of the Machines, for example -- note both of those combos also kill all lands, so beware), it becomes even easier.
5. Looks for "dies" triggers and attack triggers

I'd be tempted to omit Humility and make big efficient vanilla or quasi-vanilla creatures my wincon. Bonus points if you run Muraganda Petroglyphs.

Progenitus seems like a good commander, or better yet ask your playgroup for permission to use Fusion Elemental. Oooh, better idea: Tutoring out Torpor Orb straight away when your commander is Lord of Tresserhorn seems hilarious if you can stomach losing access to white.

EDIT: Oh, and it doesn't fit in Lord of Tresserhorn, but Titania's Song is powerful, hilarious, and exactly what you want.

That's not going to work out so well with Starfield of Nyx. I mean, if you want to be the only person without lands, that's fine, I guess...

humility was a really good call, and I'd hate to not run it cause it shuts off pretty much everything on creature. I think it's too good not to run.

Petroglyphs+Humilty+Meekstone seems like good times and exactly what the deck wants to do.

Titania's song is exactly the kind of stuff I'm looking for.

Mmm, you are correct. Opalescence + Enchanted Evening then. Starfield does still work (though not as well) with Parallax Tide/Wave.

if you run humility, cards like Muraganda Petroglyphs i think still apply, since the layers affect them in that order.

if for example you use glorious anthem (it only affects your dudes), all your 2/2 guys beat all their 1/1 guys!

There's also Null Rod, Stony Silence and Cursed Totem.

What I like to use is Humility (who doesn't) with Dovescape. That pretty much bleaches the board and hand...

While they are a non-bo with some of your other control stuff (Tsabo's Web) manlands get around Humility and other similar effects, providing you with some decent beaters that are much better than your opponent's creatures.
