From thirst for knowledge to the bottom of the list i am unsure of what to run. heremetic study? quicksilver dagger?
i could splash red for quicksilver dagger
is feel that there needs to be wayyy more counters/removal remand would be some nice dig. running 2 charisma looks reasonable
maybe Disrupt?
From thirst for knowledge to the bottom of the list i am unsure of what to run.
Condescend and Thirst for knowledge are the only two dig spells that i have so this may be problem
the rewind is there as a two-of so that i can use the 4 mana on horseshoe crab's ability
i was thinking about running more things to combo with: heremetic study quicksilver dagger
i could splash red for quicksilver dagger
so far, the deck is 54 cards so there is more space
is feel that there needs to be wayyy more counters/removal
i was thinking about running 2 high tide as a sort of finisher/accelerator
i could also run less lands. right now im running 23 and that isnt really necessary remand would be some nice dig. running 2 charisma looks reasonable
First, wrap your whole deck in these:
[DECK*][/*DECK]
Um i also need some one drops. Basilisk Collar looks interesting. If my crab never gets killed, charisma would be better as a whole. Its the same mana, and rather than killing the other creatures, can take them. Im not really feeling remand in this deck though
yeah lol
i was thinking countertop too
the thing is, both of those cards were just banned in extended, so i would feel cheap using them
and yeah hankyu looks nice
that too its a one-drop
it also adds more artifacts and makes running thirst for knowledge easier
imma update my decklist in a sec, imma go to eat
Longbow + Collar = Fun times. Hell, you could splash Red and use Goblin Sharpshooter and Dagger in Longbow's place for some cheap moves(this is a whole 'nother deck, however).
It depends on your playgroup as to whether or not you should run CounterTop. In general, most playgroups run watered-down versions of Legacy decks, so CounterTop would be fine here. If anyone gives you any trouble about it, just explain how it works with your deck, and it's not just some cheap combo you spam. And, just in case, have some cards you can switch the combo out for if people REALLY don't want to play against it. Just my opinion based on my playgroup.
yeah i know but think about it, if i land an island every turn, that means ill play horseshoe crab on turn 3. then, next turn, ill spend two mana on psionic gift
if i used long bow, the same thing would happen.
turn 1:longbow
turn 2:stuff
turn 3:horseshoe crab
turn 4: longbow equip
either way im ending up in the same place, its just that im spending two mana on turn four vs three mana
if i use a turn four psionic gift, i could have two mana open, assuming i drop a land, and with that, i could counter some stuff

I don't understand how you would be getting all the mana to untap the crab and make this combo work.
well, actually this isn't a combo which just wins
by turn 4, if you have psionic gift attached to your horseshoe crab, and you are running a stable 23 island base(more than plenty), you should land an island every turn. that means 4 mana as you choose between any creatures/players. thats awesome
in combo with counterbalance, and sensei's diving top this deck should be able to stall into a win
if youve countered everything they had so far, and they have nothing on the playfield, you are at a great advantage posting a new deckliist in a sec
Alright, i put in viridian longbow, not becuase i think its better, but because its two against one. And this happens a lot. ill get really confident about something, and be die-hard sure, but then i wont realize how much of a ☺☺☺☺☺☺ i am later.
kinda like when i said thoughtsieze sucked...i know
i also did my own thing and kinda added trinket mages
im at 61 cards right now
im probably gonna cut charisma? If i one-drop the collar, then i can attach it onto my crab and ping immediately
It's far better in here, actually. It's an Artifact for Thirst, and it tutorable via Trinket Mage (GREAT call btw :)).
-2 Charisma
-1 Longbow
+1 Collar
+1 Counterbalance/Island (Your call)
why thank you:D
i just realized how much dig counterbalance+top does
i was thinking about adding in fetchlands in order to go along with sensei's top. ya know, if i dont like what i see, i can just sac the fetchland, and shuffle?
can you PLZ just explain to me y viridian longbow is better than psionic blast? I wanna learn from my mistake
i just typed in the decklist you suggested, i miscounted, i have 61 cards
i just need to cut one card. Also the manacurve is way off. I made a separate decklist, at its manacurve is near-godly. Its has 13 1cc, 13 2cc, and 12 3cc, except it runs 3 psionic gift and 1 viridan longbow and ended up being 61 cards. and no oppositions. Should i even bother balancing out the manacurve to a fine line?
Alright, i put in viridian longbow, not becuase i think its better, but because its two against one.
Viridian Longbow is better than Psionic Gift/Hermetic Study because it's not an aura. If the crab dies, you'd at least have a longbow left in play. Further in blue, artifacts are far easier to tutor for.

ok thanks
but should the mana curve matter?
i could go with the decklist you guys suggested, its just that the one that i just posted is near perfect when it come to mana curve
this means that if i look at the top three cards of my deck, i will most likely be able to lock them out of two converted mana costs
Sick. I can't really afford cryptic commands...
Maybe i can run 1-2/3ish gush? A few people in my playgroup don't allow countertop so ill get a few just-in-case condescends and mana leaks
is it good because it packs cryptic command and a counter-top or because of the horseshoe crab?
is drift of phantasms nessacery? and was finding/drawing/mulliganning into a horseshoe crab hard?

this was used in standard when both of these cards were in standard
So here is what i have:
//NAME: Horseshoe Crab deck
4 Seat of Synod
19 Island
4 Horseshoe Crab
4 Psionic Gift
4 Counterspell
2 Rewind
4 Condescend
4 Thirst for knowledge
2 Opposition
4 Sigil of Sleep
3 Lightning Greaves
From thirst for knowledge to the bottom of the list i am unsure of what to run.
heremetic study?
quicksilver dagger?
i could splash red for quicksilver dagger
is feel that there needs to be wayyy more counters/removal
remand would be some nice dig. running 2 charisma looks reasonable
maybe Disrupt?
another option would be going r/u pingers:
4 Razorfin Hunter
4 Fireslinger
4 Cunning Sparkmage
4 Vulshock Sorcerer
3 Basilisk Collar
4 Sigil of Sleep
4 Curiosity
4 Rune Snag
4 Mana leak
4 Condescend
10 Island
10 Mountain
First, wrap your whole deck in these:
[DECK*][/*DECK]
Without this *
And it should look like this:
19 Island
4 Seat of Synod
Creatures: 4
4 Horseshoe Crab
4 Counterspell
4 Psionic Gift
4 Condescend
4 Thirst for Knowledge
4 Sigil of Sleep
3 Lightning Greaves
2 Rewind
2 Opposition
I suggest Morphling. As for Counters: Rune Snag, Cryptic Command, Mana Leak, Remand, ect. are all good Counterspells.
Consider Halimar Depths for a land. Also, why so little card draw? Ponder, Brainstorm (With shuffling), Fact or Fiction and Impulse are all examples of great card draw.
Also, maybe try adding in something to change Crab's type to combo with Azami, Lady of Scrolls.
Looks like fun
Thanks, here is my new decklist:
19 Island
4 Seat of Synod
Creatures: 4
4 Horseshoe Crab
Spells: 23
4 Counterspell
4 Condescend
4 Thirst for Knowledge
2 Rewind
4 Sigil of Sleep
3 Lightning Greaves
2 Charisma
2 Opposition

Maybe run the CounterTop (Counterbalance and Sensei's Divining Top). That gives you more one-drops, more Counters, AND more Thirst targets.
Also, Hankyu seems like fun
yeah lol
i was thinking countertop too
the thing is, both of those cards were just banned in extended, so i would feel cheap using them
and yeah hankyu looks nice
that too its a one-drop

Surprised no one has mentioned it yet.

this is a nice budget deck and i would be honored
i personally dont have time because i got a ton a Homework to finish before even beginning to porxy
I just tested this on MWS. It's some broken ☺☺☺☺
This is the build I used:
18 Island
4 Seat of the Synod
Creatures: 10
4 Horseshoe Crab
4 Trinket Mage
2 Drift of Phantasms
4 Counterspells
4 Cryptic Command
4 Thirst for Knowledge

Rune Snag > Condescend IMO
It's good because Crab is insane, especially when backed by CounterTop.
I ran Drift because all I seemed to draw into when I got CounterTop up all I could seem to draw was Land :\
