Hey guys, got a bit of a strange question so hear me out, might be a bit silly but I want to ask anyway:
Considering that I was a vintage player and have SOME staples(couple of fetches, almost a full set of wastes/fows, a lot of random cards here and there like standstill, brainstorms sensei's tops, swords to plowshares, equipment swords, things that generally go for a WUB fish in vintage) but I can't invest in legacy since it's not played in my city AND I'm going to HEAVILY invest into modern, which sadly is the only format played in this town, would you think it would be viable to throw a budget deck and go in a neighbouring city to play legacy tournies for fun and maybe for some rogue wins?
I was reading the articles on the site that proposed some super cheap decks for legacy and I was thinking that once a month I could easily go in another city to play and maybe have a REMOTE AND SLIM chance to do well(I realize that a budget deck might never get me a win, but I can't invest into 2 big formats.)
Especially i was seeing a monoblue combo that I could buff up with a few staples and make a real turn 2 winner, you think that it is reasonable to expect some rogue wins provided the skill and good plays/mu's? I don't know what would be the meta and how many players, but it's one of the biggest LGS in italy if I understood correctly and they do play legacy fairly often with some big prizes, again, I DO NOT EXPECT to win, I'm just gambling for it you can say...would that be a total waste of time?
Also not liking too much the veil of secrecy, I get the point but...alternatives?
---------------
Was also considering a couple storm decks since again i do have most of the pieces but I kinda like this one, again, would that be just a huge waste of time or do I have any chance to do anything good by going budget & rogue? I really like legacy but can't go out buying all the fetches/wills/duals/stuff I'm missing, or either I'd be playing tier 1 decks already since I'm fairly competitive...
edit: if you're wondering why the not full playsets changes...well...playing with what I have right now... =P

Vintage nostalgic, WUB Fish control/aggro addicted.

Modern: ??? undecided.
I actually played with a modification of Spooky's twisted image budget deck in a MTGO legacy tournament and did reasonably well. I modified the deck a little bit mainly because it is very weak to any sort of discard. 4 maindeck leyline of sanctity really help against all the discard, not to mention storm, burn, etc. This deck is pretty powerful and shocked more than one player at its speed. I ended up 2-2, beating burn and charbelcher, and losing to show and tell and some zoo deck. distortion strike as well as brave the elements really help push your one guy through. As a side note, this is a fun deck and I really appreciate how much effort Spooky went into building it...
Yeah this deck will get you some wins. Like a deck list your running is like 75 percent amazing legacy cards and the other 25 percent it budget. That will let you be at least some what competitive at most LGS.

The deck I'm talking about is the twisted image deck suggested here by I *think* spooky http://www.mtgsalvation.com/1369-squandered-resources-super-budget-super-series-3.html I was thinking of modifying it a bit to make it more resilient and efficient, do you think this makes sense?
was thinking like...
4x swords to plowshares instead of condemn
4x brainstorm instead of preordain
1x flooded strand instead of 1 plains
1x polluted delta instead of 1 isle
3x force of will not sure what to change though...
1x mystic gate for 1 basic land
3x wasteland not sure if needed but maybe?
???x merchant scroll maybe for tutoring? Could run less of the win cons
???x daze more counters since we're just fishing for the combo?
