WotC has announced that they shall print a new EDH/COmmander product (I still use the name "EDH" for the format, and "Commander" only for WotC's official product) every year, which pleases me greatly, as I am very fond of that format. The first Commander product focused on the "wedge" colors (i.e., two allied colors and their mutual enemy), which was understandable, as those color combinations had very little support or focus before then.
Now, however, as those colors have been given support and focus in the first Commander set, I hope that the next Commander product focuses on the "shard" colors (i.e., a single color combined with its two allied colors), since I am very fond of those color combinations and my current EDH decks are comprised of those combinations. Also, as the cycle of legendary dragons (which are wedge-colored) from Planar Chaos was reprinted in the first Commander set, I would hope that a shard-colored set would be an opportunity for the legendary dragons from Invasion to be reprinted, as I wish to see them reprinted at some point in the future. There are also numerous other legendary creatures who could be reprinted if the next set focused on such colors, in my mind. What does everyone else say to that? Would you like to see a Commander set that focuses on the "shard" colors?

Dear kbx41,
You have received a warning at MTG Salvation Forums.
Reason:
-------
Flaming or Other Forms of Misbehavior
Saying that you sometimes wish people (in this case the implication is the staff) would fall down a well and get AIDS is hardly appropriate for the forum.
I would honestly would LOVE a bant colored general that actually helped advance either a token or enchantress strategy. Other than that, I feel that the shards really have much less area to explore than the wedge colors did. Also, I hope they do dual color instead of tri-color this time...(Though I think this is unlikely due to ravnica being out at the same time which has given us many many dual colored legends).
Have a helicopter drop you off out front. Light your cigar with a small Indonesian boy holding a black lotus. Then bust out a craw wurm deck with no sleeves. Raw dog shuffle, loose terribly, flip the table, leave in a hovercraft.

Also, I hope they do dual color instead of tri-color this time...(Though I think this is unlikely due to ravnica being out at the same time which has given us many many dual colored legends).
It's also less likely because 3 color decks let them provide both 2 and 3 color commanders.
Given that they focused on wedges last time around and I doubt they'd go two-color after getting all the new Ravnica legends, I wouldn't be surprised to see you proven right. Still, we had a whole block to deal with shard-color, and it ended up pretty cluttered, and the design space for them is pretty well-trodden.
I'd like to see them go freeform with the design this time around. Some 4-color legends, some shards/wedges, some dual and monocolor... Commander has become established enough that they can afford to just take top-down design ideas and run with them.
I'm in for some dual-colored love. Not sure how they'll complete the cycle of ten within one product (and waiting an extra year for the next cycle of five might grate quite a few players), but I liked the enemy-colored legends they supplied in the last product. Very different from the norm
I really hope it's four or five color this time around, preferably four color. I loved playing Gifts-Rock back when extended was a thing around Kamigawa, and want to have a four-color general so I can play GBWU. This wouldn't have been a problem had the nephalim been legendary.
Otherwise, five color would be nice, too. I hate playing slivers, so that leaves me with Scion of the Ur-Dragon, Atogatog, or Karona as my options (don't have progenetius, Child of Alara, or Scarecrow King). None of them do anything worth while except Scion, and it's a dull ability.

How about "You may discard your hand, pay 5 life, rip this card, remove 3 digits from any number of target fingers you control, and concede at the end of the next end step rather than pay It Will Go Through!!'s mana cost.
Of the five legendary dragons from Invasion, Dromar is the only one that has not been reprinted( the three containing green in Phyrexia vs The Coalition and Crosis in PDS: Graveborn). Not sure that would help drive the idea of shard colored product. Definitely difficult to speculate on what will happen.

I'd personally like to see certain characters that have been mentioned in various sets but never seen - I'd love a set of a black Gisa and a blue Geralf decks - or even both! (Gisa and Geralf, blue-black Legend).
Mostly because it's an absolute travesty that neither Gisa, Geralf, Ludevic, or Eberhart got cards for themselves.
I wouldn't mind a top-down design for them centered around planes that have been casually mentioned, have grown a few fans but are unlikely to get their own block anytime soon if ever. Muraganda. Shandalar. Immersturm. Iquanta. Etc...
4 color would be nice, but if we don't get that then I wouldn't mind a 5-color deck with some nice legendary 4-colors in it.
Shards are good.
I really only like Esper and Bant (and occasionally Grixis),
but there's plenty of good stuff they can put in Shard-based decks.
If they go 2-color, I pray to god they go with the enemy pairs. GU has a measly THREE OPTIONS for Generals-
one of which was new in the previous Commander decks
Now, compare that to GB, or (god forbid) GW.
I'd also rather they not do anything asymmetrical-
I'm not terribly pleased with the color distribution in Archenemy or Planechase 2009 (PC2012 was a little better).

Yes, that is exactly what I desire; a reprint of Dromar, as I prefer the new card frame over the original card frame.

Lord Windgrace deck, anyone?
What about Edgar Markov, Sorin's grandfather and the progenitor of all vampires on Innistrad? Since he is responsible for a significant portion of the Innistrad storyline, I am very surprised that he never appeared on any card.

Have six commander decks. Five shards (so you can bring back Dromar, Treva, and so on), and then one 5-color deck, which would include a cycle of 4-color legendary creatures.
Maybe make a new and improved version of Karona, False God since the original version of her su-hucked.
While we're at it, perhaps tweak the Commander rules a bit so Phage, Haakon, and a few other commanders become viable.
"Each commander has a deploy cost of 0, plus 2 for each time it has returned to the Command Zone this game. You can pay the deploy cost any time you could play an instant to place your commander into your hand. If your commander is in your hand and you pass priority while the stack is empty, return your commander to the command zone as a state based effect."
This would let you actually cast Phage from your hand, or pitch Haakon into your graveyard.
Maro has stated that 4 color is barely different from 5 color, in every way. If we get any 4 color legends, they'll be EDH fodder in something like DGM, but I doubt it'd be a deck product.
I think they'd go after the ally shards, since they did the enemy shards. It could be a cue to an inverted Alara set, with enemy wedges instead.
So I found myself curious just what the legends balance was since people seem to really talk about how we don't have this or that when it comes to the different color combinations for commanders. So I did a tally of all of the legends color identities all the way though Avacyn Restored. I left RTR out because the block will probably add legends evenly and left flip cards and Un cards out since they can't be used as commanders.

Low, but looks even lower when you consider that Commander added 2 of each of these. This is an area where a lot of work needs to be done.
Oh yeah, no 4 color legends of any kind. My advice is to sanction the Nephilim as a house rule but I also agree with Maro that they play like 5 color so I wouldn't my hopes up too high for 4 color legends.
WUBRG 11
Yeah that's right there are eleven of them. The down side being that almost all of them are tribal so don't really leave you much option for deck building. Seriously three of them are slivers one of which is on the reserved list, atogs, scarecrows, elementals, only I think 3 of them are non tribal. Bargain advice, sanction Transguild Courier he's cheap, not hard to find, would allow all five colors, and a 3/3 for four is not going to break too many decks.
Whatever we get it will probably be balanced much like the first Commander release. I would not expect a Planchase2 type of distribution.
Enemy shards are still light on options but you rarely do the same trick twice so I would expect something like arc decks or even something really off the wall like 3 new five color decks.

a) we've never had any, so coolness factor, and
b) you could still have room for a pair of shard legends underneath each four-colour legends in a set.
I doubt it, but it since it will likely be coming out as RTR block is finishing up, it would be cool if they did ten guild based commander decks.
