Hey, so last night I was playing around with the scripts in MSE, seeing what new stuff I could make. Well, I happened upon a new kind of script Twanvl stuck in version 0.3.2, and tried using it to make a new kind of hybrid frame. Here're the results, used to make a couple guildmages. I'd love to know what you guys think. I labeled them overlay hybrids.
I've heard that before, about my fonts. And I have no idea why, cause I use the same templates that twanvl uses (development version), and those are the same templates that get packed in the installer. I don't change the fonts unless a user tells me they're wrong and what change I should make.
The watermarks are wrong because they're wrong in mse at the moment.
And I've intentionally got non-popup mana in the casting cost cause I wanted to use guild mana symbols.
The frames, I picked those three cause I found high-res art of those guildmages. Rakdos I knew looked good, so it was in. And I was able to find Izzet and Selesnya so I used it. Some of them look better than others. Some of them, like green/white, are so muddled by the time you do the symmetrical overlay that you can't tell what's going on anymore. I think the blue/black was another cool one. Maybe I'll try to make one of those sometime, if I can find the art.
I'm not sure about straying from the iconic pattern, though i do like your first Rakdos mage and Izzet mage because of their rich color.
I think using the guild symbols for the mana makes more sense aesthetically, and the barrier to a new player who doesn't have other cards to reference to
(what does this weird symbol mean?) is logically displayed in the text box.
Though, I should mention that if Wizards were to use split mana in the future, without the guild reference, the symbols probably aren't appropriate.

RyAqua - I'm willing to try this. Where could I change that at?
BadLuck - Yeah, it was just an experiment anyway. And the guild symbols for the mana (even though they would be divorced from the hybrid theme in the future) were just something cool to add.
Kagure - I'd rather not post the script, atleast not for the time being, because it's not complete. I only did part of it; not having the rest would cause errors. The template that was used to make those wasn't actually the standard Magic templates, it was a copy of them that I did some heavy altering on to make it do that.
Well, sure enough, the font size was there and set to 120 DPI. I changed it to 96, and now, when I'm done browsing, I'm going back to 120. This feels wrong. I'll just have cards with slightly larger fonts. I don't mind.

It's probably because his font setting is "Large Fonts" or DPI 120 when it should be 96.
