I've been trying to figure out a way to show all the information on those darn DFCs. This looks great! I specifically need these 5 cards for a pauper cube I'm working on. Don't want to require newer people to take the card out and look at it while drafting. If anyone's up to the challenge, I'd love to see how they look.
so much for a college edumacation Anyway thanks for the spell checking.
and you card is interesting. why does it have the phyrexian symbol?
not ENTIRELY sure, just thought it tied it together nicely, what with the matrix being about a race of machines that enslave weaker organic races.
here's swamp thing as Ghave, because like Agent Smith as Essence, it's thematically perfect. Image removed.

Anyhow, feedback appreciated:

The mana symbols are a little awkward and need some work. I just realized the @ symbol at the bottom instead of an ampersand. Back to work I guess
Because conservative bias is a far, far worse thing. Liberal bias doesn't, statistically speaking, make people stupid. Conservative bias (or at least Fox's version of it) does.
Thanks zeerbe! I tried just white text, and it looked horrible/unreadable in parts. I'll try it with the black stroke on it to see if it helps, as I originally in my head thought white would be better as well.
Thanks for the tip on the mana symbols! For the title, I think I'm going to redo it with only the snakes spilling over instead of some of the stone too. I agree it would make more sense.
Edit: So, a few changes later:
I made the name in white text as well. It looked odd to me with the rules text white, and her name in black.

Wrong Matrix. Matrix II is the font used for some of the text(title, artist name) on MTG cards, and has nothing to do with the movie of the same title.
You won't find a free version as it's a commercial font.
Really love what you did with the image there. It isn't very game-firendly though, it doesn't even flip 180 degree-wise
Haha, thanks. I made it purely for use as a proxy in my cube - A regular Cathar card will be used when it enters the battlefield. The art doesn't really fit the kamigawa-style flip format, but I tried it anyway with a few tweaks and fixed up the other version. Also, the next card is fairly complete. I think I just need to create all the shadow effects and clean up the art/placement a bit.
it looks awesome, ty :D. btw is there any font that looks a lot like the matrix font
I had been using a default font before I got the Matrix font. I'll see if I can remember which one it is for you and post again when I find it.
Also, I've finished my modern DFC template. I'll be posting it when I've made sure there's nothing else that needs tweaking.
If anyone's interested, I've made my own updates for Magic Set Editor 2, which includes a template for modern DFCs and Miracles, and a suite of planeshifted stuff. Let me know if you're still using that program, and want the update.
Any particular reason you went with just the textures for the title/type instead of the bevel?
Interesting change.
Well, I think I must've found an older version of your all-in-one template because I didn't see a bunch of things in it... so I just didn't get around to making the bevels yet. It does seem to make the image a little flatter without them, though perhaps if I experiment with spill, it could have the opposite effect.
They're certainly usable as they are now and much more informative than those checklist proxies, which is primarily what I was shooting for. I definitely don't want to be drafting with DFCs otherwise.
I had requested a little bit back for Tamiyo and Tibalt in the Sideways walker frame. I was curious if anyone had made those or was interested in possibly making them for me. Since I got a new computer I haven't had time to set myself back up to make proxies yet (with the end of the current semester finally winding down). I hope to be making some in the future, but would really like it if someone has already made them to share. I have all the other PWs in my cube in this format and I would love to keep them uniform.

The single side DFC wasn't even in the All-In-One.
I'd hate to negate your work, but would it make it easier if the single sided DFC template was made public again?
Oh, I wouldn't mind at all. I enjoyed learning about the process while making it myself, though I can see where many would have less patience for that sort of thing. The beveling seems like it could be rather difficult, so I'd definitely use that if it was available. Were there issues with that template that it was made private?

TMAP went down, and I was hesitant to continue to have templates available.
Does anyone have any information on using Phyrexian Symbols in the mana cost? i can't find the symbol.
Magic Symbols font 2011 (possibly 2010 if I got the name wrong) has them. That's what I used and it worked. You just gotta play with the sizing of the o because the [phyrexian] symbol is a physically large character.
*On another note, does anyone have a photoshop layer/layer mask for making "the swirl" like older dual lands? I made the new MTGO duals but someone uploaded a screenshot and they have the 2 color "swirl" in them. I have no idea how to make that.
I just came back from college for a short summer break (1.5 weeks). I'll have to push my renders to my Deviant Art account...dust those cobwebs off. Always willing to share so I'll put that on my to-do list for the community. I'd like to have my dual lands with swirls. Atm I have the text boxes doing a L/R dual-color gradient (like shocklands, new face pain lands, etc).

The text would have been better served as white with a black stroke. It also makes little sense to spill some of the card title. but not all of it.
For the mana symbols, try changing the anit-alias to Smooth
