@pandafarmer - I don't own any supplies or time to aid the EDH community atm. Maybe something down the pipeline next year, but my focus is linking the past with the future players of the Magic community through laughter & fan service!
Fair enough, and it does look like you have enough "real work" on your plate as it is. Still, fantastic work and I think you'd be able to fetch Klug level prices for your alters if you ever planned on doing them.
I also like to think that Liliana "killing" Jace is reminiscent of the bannings/rotations. All you're left with is Memory Adept, a shell of his former self.
You can find me on Twitter or my DA account (which is in the link in my sig). I do a bi-weekly strip for Manadeprived too!
Thanks for the support guys!
Here's some older stuff to tide ya over til the next one (with Bob Maher):
- Premier Unscrewed Strip (1st)
- Rumble in the Jungle w/Chandra (The rest will be done by Febuary)
- Liliana Vess (1st Magic related art I did since Jr. High)
- Liliana of the Veil (Innistrad Version)

I am amused greatly. I also didn't expect a fanservicey take on Braids, of all people, but this is very good nonetheless. Are you going to do other parody ads featuring Magic characters?

If I ever find time, I would like to do a lot more to be honest! I had a ton of parody based stores in my Chandra/Ajani strip a few months back (and a few unpublished ones), which seems like a good time to get on that.

Here's another Tamiyo piece I'm working on, but currently unfinished.
Also, here's one of my reference sheets for the upcoming Avacyn Comic Strip I'm working on. I've added some pupils in her eyes to give some more emotion in some lines of dialog. Otherwise, she'd come off way too serious.

If she's not supposed to have pupils, then take them out. You could compensate with more overt facial expressions, or just go for deadpan humor. Both are perfectly acceptable alternatives.
I'm more with Brian Singer's camp when it comes to exploring personalities and developing characters visually. As humans, we relate more to human-like characters and features. Kinda how James Cameron put breasts on the Na'vi race. He didn't have to, but it's a universal way to visually communicate different sexes.
James Marsden (Cyclops) was an extremely great actor known for his emotional performances. Due to having his visor block out his eyes in X-Men 1~2, some key scenes (loss of Jean Grey as an example) loses a bit of impact with the audience. If you've seen James Marsden in other films, you know when he cries, he really sells it.
Then you have to consider having a potentially wider audience as well. Especially those not used to seeing super heroes and costumes. I know the African American community voiced their concerns and criticism alone on Halle Barry's hair. Even the hair color can disconnect the audience. Imagine if most of her scenes would portray her with white pupils? A lot of scenes would detach the viewers unless it was used to show her shooting lightning.
The same goes with current super heroes movies where we were're given a chance to see both Christian Bale (Batman) with his eyes revealed, but later covered up with his scanner in the final act against the Joker. The audience can see a wide emotion and Bale's state of mind by just simply looking into his eyes. If you look closely in his scenes (the Joker interrogation specifically) you would not get the same dramatic impact if they covered it up with a scanner or "white" pupils like they do in the comics.
With Avacyn, I've decided to go with an alternate route similar to Superman/Storm in recent years. DC comics has found a way to create Superman intimating by having his eyes glow red. In key scenes, he's still the Superman we know in dialog heavy panels, but in a sheer moment of rage or a heat of battle, they play out the glowing red pupils. Just like Halle Barry/Storm showing resentment and activating her powers to create heavy fog or summon lightning.
So in some panels in the upcoming strip, Avacyn will be shown with white pupils either for intimidation or for action scenes. In something that's a bit more tongue in cheek, I'd like to bring her down closer to our level.
Not saying that pupil-less characters don't work. With one of my earlier strips, it worked for Garuk since I was playing off the size of his character. It just added more to the humor by having his eyes more animated and not necessarily follow logic according to the limits of a metal helmet with eye holes.
There's no real right or wrong decision here (it's strictly personal preference), but from drawing past successes and choices by Bryan Singer/Christopher Nolan, I'd like replicate the same formula, even for a different medium that's not film. I hope that clears up my decision and the thought process I go through.

My entire MTG folder got deleted by DA over a reported copyright violation. The entire folder! I cannot confirm if it was WotC or a random nobody that felt salty that day. There's a strong suspicion that it could be someone at WotC legal since it was an immediate deletion without warning. I'll get my answer within the week.
I'm currently in an appeal process to recover those pieces, since tons of those pieces had awesome comments by actual MTG artists.
I'll be posting most of the current production images and final works on my Tumblr in the future. Which isn't hard to find.
