Ok i figured i'd make this thread due to the fact of looking up almost any popular legendary creature on google youll see 2 billion pictures of them as planeswalkers.
Now this is just sickening to me. And i hope to high heaven that wizards dosent turn every legendary card into a planeswalker.
I mean why are they so popular? and im sure "new" players will scorn and flame, but to the old players, who still have the original 5 elder dragon legends in a binder, do you want wizards to rape all the great classic cards that made magic a household name?
And no, i dont HATE planewalkers, im neuteral, if i get one, i usually sell it or trade it.
For someone who is neutral, why are you so concerned with Wizards "raping" classic cards? Why note that you usually sell or trade them off when so many of them are useful in a variety of decks, from the narrow focused (Nissa and Elves) to the broadly applicable (Jace of both flavours).
In fact, out of 20 Planewalkers introduced since Lorwyn, only 1 (if I'm not mistaken) has actually been made from a pre-existing character that had a card; Nicol Bolas himself.
Why are they so popular? Because they represent several fairly new mechanics (yes, even mechanics nearly half a decade old can be 'new' compared to truly old school stuff); they often provide some card advantage (hopefully at least paying their dues initially with a first + or - activation and possibly as a damage soak if the opponent decides to off them immediately) and several of them do things that nothing else in the game does.
Planeswalkers in no way 'replace' Legendary creatures, they're simply representations of different aspects of the fantasy theme and game mechanics. If your average creature is effectively a nameless extra in a movie, Legendary creatures are individuals of a civilization or species so notable that they get names and specific screentime, and Planeswalkers are often your major supporting characters (with the player themselves in a starring role as protagonist, from their own perspective at least).
I think that in terms of introducing a whole new card type, Planeswalkers have been a successful addition to the game. Some are a bit underpowered, some are a bit too narrowly focused for my liking, and at least one (and yes, we all know who he is) is overpowered, but overall I'm glad WOTC added them, and look forward to what they do next with each passing set, even if I don't bother snagging them (unless I'm lucky enough to crack one in a pack) until they come down to more reasonable prices.

They are only going make Planeswalker cards of Planeswalker character like Bolas and Venser. And almost for sure they will do it of characters that it makes sense for in the story. Like for example Karn
Maybe this reality is actually an alternate reality of a reality in which New Phyrexia was the joke expansion and Mirrodin Pure was the obvious expansion, except our reality is the Time Shifted reality which is opposite of that other reality which is that actual reality.
I was actually expecting Glissa Sunseeker to be a planeswalker since she did turn into a planeswalker at the end of the story of Mirrodin along with Slobad, Goblin Tinkerer

No, she didn't. Her spark got accidentally transferred to Slobad, who then gave up the spark to bring Glissa back to life and return Mirrodin's life to their homeworlds.

And I apparently misread the OP anyway, as he was somehow conflating people making random Legends into Planeswalkers with WOTC doing it eventually as well.
Look, I'm sure if we search hard enough we could Google up Planeswalker versions of my table, desklamp and Y: The Last Man collection. That doesn't mean for a second that WOTC is going to bother doing it.
... though I'm curious to see if they could pull off Rare/Uncommon/Common planeswalkers. Lower powered cards, fewer abilities, etc. What would a common planeswalker even look like? How mechanically could you make it weak enough to not unduly affect limited while powerful enough to justify using in the first place?

Ahh, must have gotten spark and planeswalker mixed up. I havn't read the series in years!
Then have him eat Nicol Bolas and the Magic universe can be awesome again. He takes over the Infinite Consortium and turns it into a trans-multiverse Izzet League. His agents scour the multiverse in Venser's planeships looking for magic to learn, technology to improve upon, and less intelligent people to condescend to.

PS: I'm guessing you saw Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker and got mad, even though he's clearly the most badass planeswalker printed.
Cards that should honestly show up as planeswalker cards? Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir and Jaya Ballard, Task Mage. I would also say Karn, but I'm still hoping he some how makes it in as a colorless planeswalker next release.

I lose sleep at night just worrying about that.
-1: Until the beginning of your next turn, creatures with islandwalk can be blocked as though they didn't have islandwalk.

I stand corrected!
2 / 20 or 10% is pretty reasonable.

They'd do a whole cycle. I'm not sure who'd be which colour, but Phoebe would probably be the green walker.
