I agree, if only PDF files weren't so unwieldy. :/
If you have a PC (which I assume you do since OSX runs PDFs super fast) then use something other than Acrobat to open PDFs, just google for PDF readers and you'll get superior ones.
Does anyone know if this is possible? And how to do it if it is?
It's possible to read a PDF through the Safari browser on the iPhone, you can probably get the Air Sharing app as well and store it on your phone to read.
Nevermind my comment about paying 7 less. I am now 120 pages in and it is worth the full 27.
It is a lot of Magic theory, starting with the very basics and working its way up, with some entertaining storytelling and good examples to illustrate points.

"Death - an outmoded concept. We sleep, and we change."
can someone give a breakdown of the book?
I.E. what are the topics discussed, how graphics heavy is it and how many pages?
How much of it is anecdotal and how much straight, dry strategy?
I have to say that I enjoy reading your article Pat, and all my friends who have met and played with you have nothing but nice things to say. I also think it's funny that all the judges seem to love you (see the article about judging on the mothership site from today).
It is full of Magic Theory all about deckbuilding, Team building, strategy, mental preparation, etc. Basically if you were ever curious about ways to better yourself as a player, the book gives great step-by-step advice on achieving that. Not very many graphics, just some used to show cards that are being discussed in situations.
Bottom line is this--If you want to improve your play, deckbuilding, or just overall skill at Magic, pick this up. It provides so many useful tools, it is definitely worth it.
ever consider just playing on MWS ALOT? I know that has helped me immeasurably at being a better player.
I've done my fair share of MWS play, and considering the overall caliber of players playing on there, I would go as far as to say extensive play on MWS could even be detrimental to your skill. When you play a bunch of games on MWS, it might do you well to go back and decide how those games might have gone against a higher level of player. I wouldn't really say giving oneself a false sense of confidence is a good thing. :\
Totally worth it. I'm towards the end, and the insights that Pat has shared are well worth the money.
I was a little put off at the $27 price tag - was expecting more like 20 even, but it's totally worth it. Wish that we could have hard copies for a bit extra - I'd love to have this proudly displayed on my bookshelf, and reading paper is better than reading computer screen IMO.
What's the website to order this book?
I'm not very good at Magic and I hope this will help me.

I have not been happy with my constructed tournament play, so I am reading Chapin's book and decided to complete a fearless magical inventory. This list is incomplete I'm sure, but a beginning is where I need to be. Please feel free to comment on this list.
1. I poorly shuffle, and poorly cut/shuffle opponent deck.
2. I choke under high-pressure, close game situations
3. I wait for an advantage instead of making one.
4. I play faster than I should, skipping playing lands, attacking with incorrect creatures if I should attack at all
5. I do not play test enough (schedule conflicts with only player available to playtest w/o buying duplicate deck online
6. When opponent is ahead, I make "safe" plays instead of smart ones
7. I assume I know what a card does, forgetting relevant abilities
8. I do not spend enough time evaluating combat situations.
9. I either counterspell irrelevant things, or let relevant spells resolve
10. I play more aggressive than situations warrant.

What kind of comments do you want? Not knowing you, I have no idea if these are correct, but they certainly could be. I can, however, inform you than in #10 "aggressive" should be "aggressively" since it refers to "play", which is a verb.

I will also say that I wish it costed me seven dollars less.

Awesome sig and avatar by Mr. Stuff over at High~Light Studios!
At the same time, I want to know particularly what my 27 dollars are going towards.
Take a look at the several preview articles Chapin wrote on Star City and it'll give you a pretty good idea of the type of content to expect.
I bought the book and through the first 40 pages I'm enjoying it very much. I'd suggest it.

I'm pretty interested in play theory but deck building theory is something I'd totally buy the book for.

No. It just means that you have 14 days to download it. After 14 days you just won't be able to download it again. Nothing happens to your file.
