ok this card is very cool powerful and flavorful, no question.
but is it too powerful?
is this what mythic rare allows WoTc to do with a magic creature?
there has not been a mythic rare so cost effective, exuding rifiq, ever printed.
there has not been an angel, arguably Exalted Angel, more cost ever printed.

Its expensive, does nothing to the board immediately, and has no real removal dodging ability.

Compared to things that size, it's relatively cheap. Also plopping down a 5/5 lifelink first striking flier does affect the board immediately, as it can prevent the opponent from attacking by making it so he'll lose attackers and not actually net any damage.

A very strong top-of-the-curve finisher for White Aggro decks. If that new card, I think it was Honor of the Pure, ends up being a one-sided, cheaper Anthem effect, I can already see a non-WW white aggro deck possibly doing quite well. She dies to any normal removal, but if they can't answer her, she is a severe beating that will quickly swing the game. Combined with Wall of Reverence things can become stupid, fast. Just off the top of the ol head:
Just cobbled together off the top of my head, but it has a nice curve, and in all truth the Wall of Reverence is likely not needed, but with the stupid passive life gain ability of the deck, it just seems fun to me.

Silly boy. Double-Strike ALREADY gives you First Strike damage. Battlegrace Angel weeps at your ignorance of her.
She'd turn the turn 4 into +1/+1 AND Lifelink, then she herself (already a 5/5 Lifelink from her own ability, AND Double-Strike from Rafiq) entirely outclasses this Angel thanks to Rafiq.
People seem to forget that we already have an effective 5/5 Flying Lifelink for 5 mana who, if she needs to, can contribute Lifelink and +1/+1 to another creature you control. This Angel is not above the curve, she simply has a different use in that she stands better on her own defensively, or as a solo creature. Battlegrace is a MUCH better team player, especially when she grants her abilities to another attacker the same turn she enters play.
In short, good card, not over the top though. I'd have preferred her as a 4/3 with Protection from Black and Red (and Flying, First Strike, Lifelink), for the same cost... or even for 6.

Yeah, in Bant Aggro I'd rather have the battlegrace angel, and even then I don't like her because she costs 5 and I like having a low curve in my aggro deck. I mean even Finest Hour is only a 2-of in my deck.
Battlegrace has more immediate effect in that she gives whatever creature you cast before her +1/+1 and lifelink. If I want a great blocker Ill use wall of reverance or wall of denial.
Ohh and terminate and terror arent the only removal in standard. Maelstorm Pulse, Path to Exile, Oblivion Ring, etc.
Its no Exalted Angel, and its not an effective finisher like Akroma.

The fact that Battlegrace Angel (BGA) needs Rafiq to outclass Baneslayer Angel (BSA) means that BGA !> BSA. Rather, I think that BSA is somewhat better than BGA when they are alone (i.e. no Rafiq or any other support cards).
I would take a step up and say Baneslayer is WAY better than Battlegrace.
First strike, real lifelink and a very real +1/+1 makes it a brilliant defender the turn it comes into play, and almost impossible to kill in combat on offense or defense.
Plus it's not effectively restricted to attacking alone.
Oh, and it has better art. Can't argue with that!
Will cost an arm and a leg, I fear...
Yes it's better in a vacuum. But BGA has a bigger impact on the board the turn she hits play. BSA has a bigger impact on the rest of the game, provided she doesn't get immediately removed.
BSA is better in general, but BGA is better in certain decks and situations.
This card is not too good. For any big creature that costs at least five mana to be truly overpowered, it would have to have some kind of protection, regeneration, persist, or shroud. I know many say that 'it dies to removal' is not a legitimate argument for why a card is bad, but it is a legit argument for why it isn't overpowered. Any five-mana card that can be eliminated with a one-mana card or endlessly chump-blocked by tokens is not really over the top.
That being said, this is a really sweet card. Between this and Karrthus, I don't think Broodmate Dragon is going to be seeing much play from now on.

It's fine. It's not going to even see play because of how good spot removal is right now.
Is that why no one plays creatures anymore?
No if it's as good as it looks people will play it.
I really don't like it though. So far M10 just looks like they are making up for the last few core sets by adding some overpowered cards, I don't like it. Bad Wizards!
Oh well, the game gets harder. Wasn't one of the magor ideas to get some new players to join, it makes it harder when you introduce them in to an environment of ooverpowered cards. Overpowered!
This angel is better defensively, that much is clear. As pointed out by many posters, if you're playing an aggressive deck topping out at 5 mana, Battlegrace Angel will be better.
The 5 mana makes it ok to unbalance limited as a Mythic: at more mana it'd be far less likely to see play in constructed. Yes, it's better than Serra Angel, but she hasn't seen play in nearly 15 years in anything resembling a serious format. Without the ability to gain life and not die to an opposing 5/x creature, some of which cost 4 (Spellbreaker Behemoth, Mycoid Shepherd), she'd probably be on the sidelines.
To those concerned about a Mythic being played in constructed, the promise is to not make a widely playable card a Mythic, not to make no Mythic playable. This card clearly fits only in white defensive decks; aggressive ones will either not have 5 mana creatures or will play Battlegrace.

Look at the creatures lately - Wooly Thoctar, wild nacatl, Rhox War Monk - admittedly all of them will be totally unplayable in standard when m10 comes in and Lorwyn rotates if they aren't already, but no, this critter is not overpowered. Bloodbraid Elf, Ball Lightning - these will be the face of the new standard.
Creatures have improved since Onslaught - Exalted Angel is to that period of time what Baneslayer is to right now. The card is still going to be unplayed in Standard due to how incredibly horrible white is shaping up to be post rotation. The card, for its CMC, validates its rarity and isn't overpowered.
