Although I feel kinda dirty actually liking this guy, this whole thing seems rather gimicky. Big crisp and pretty art, mythic rarity, new card type (subtype at least, and visually looking very different from a simple creature), lots of really big numbers; is this really the direction we want to see magic going in? Spells whose only drawbacks are high casting costs?
I'm waiting for the day when we see:
The End of Magic, 10WUBRG, Legendary Instant, Ultra Mega Mythic Rare, "Split Second, Win game"
Cruel Ultimatum was practically there, these guys are shaping up to be of that ilk. I suppose I miss the good old days of Force of Nature and Lord of the Pit.
For that type of mana that card would actually be fairly balanced seriously.
The only deck that can abuse it really is Dream Halls and there it would probably take Dream Halls to a potential power ban or something.
Sure that one is a bit easier to use and the split second makes it quite a bit more powerful. But they both can end the game fairly easy if the mana is no problem. If you actually get 15 mana out in a competitive game someone already won a long time ago and they are just having trouble finding the finisher involved.
Crap Door even has the advantage of needing only 10 mana in one turn your card needs 15 in one turn.
I think this card is silly. How are ridiculously large mythic colorless fatties with unnecessary keyword abilities a viable theme for a set? I really hope this gets explained to me.

Im a little scared of hypergensis now. Since this guy refreashs there hand and then there Deck when he hits the bin there going to to become more consistant. Before my plan was to meddling mage them ok if that doesn't work, wrath now im going umm wrath just resets them to try it again.
They don't draw off of Kozilek if they don't cast him. Hypergenesis just puts it into play. Otherwise, that'd be stupid.

I build stupid casual decks! Like, really stupid casual decks! Check the blog to see them!
Wow. Hate the art, hate the see through borders. This guy looks like he should be from Reboot back in the 90s. The keyword is pretentious, as it's not about to show up again after this set. I don't know why they even bother with keywording every ability. I'm not about to feel like an idiot saying "I'm annihilating those four permanents." There better be some damn good colorless ramping in this set, otherwise this guy's going nowhere but EDH.
They mentioned something about small creatures or artifacts that you can sacrifice to make mana; I'm sure RoE will give us some tools to play these bad boys.
Wait, can you even Dream Halls this thing out? Nothing shares a color with it, after all... Still, he'll have a home in 3/4 of my EDH decks.
@Dr. Teeth, if in fact you are even a doctor: they keyword a lot of abilities because it's an easy way to refer to recurring ones, and because keywords lend a lot of flavor. Also, the see-through borders are a great way to enhance the sense of "bigness."
@half the posters: CAST IS NOT EQUAL TO ENTER THE BATTLEFIELD. Thank you.
As a connoisseur of fun, interesting matches, I still to this day have not been able to craft that "perfect deck"; the deck that I can play and have fun over time, doesn't get boring, but simultaneously is fun to play against. I honestly don't think it exists. It's like a unicorn. A ninja unicorn.
@uberdylan: Haha, yeah, funny, well if they're going to keyword everything they should try and make the keywords ones people actually will want to say and will refer to. Annihilate sounds like something a 3-year old would make up. I 'm a big fan of flavor, but I sure prefer the taste of bacon to buttholes.

My Altered Cards.

PM if interested.
Thanks, Smileylich. Somebody cleaned it up before, but I was waiting for a straightened version.
@dr. teeth: IMO, "Annihilate" sounds pretty cool. Has a nice, weighty, feel to it, one benefiting a 10-cost 12/12. What would you call "Whenever this creature attacks, defending player sacrifices X permanents."?
PS: Nice analogy, but please don't ruin any other foods for me.

hahaha this guy sucks so bad. Unplayable outside of EDH(its good in edh). Name starting with K and 6th out of 248. Also confirms how bad Eye of ugin is. Epic fail card imo.

Very interesting. Eye of Ugin already jumped to $15-$20. The Eye would make it cost 8, but it may be possible to ramp into it much like the Valakut decks ramp. Even if it does die it comes into play draws you 4 cards then goes to the bottom of your deck, if they don't kill it then they have to sac 4 permanents which is quite stupid. Its colorless so it bypasses anything with protection as well as gets around Iona. I don't think its amazing for standard but it has a possibility though a small one. We'll see what the rest of ROE looks like first.
We're pretty sure the smallest is 7/7 via a deciphering of the "goblin censored" arcana, and that they all have annihilate.
Also: This guy costs 9 with Eye out. EYE DOES NOT TAP FOR MANA, IT ONLY REDUCES HIS COST BY 1 COMPARED TO A BASIC. Thank you.
Also: pretty certain these guys are gonna get some support in RoE, something to let us cast them easier. Bombs like Iona are standalone, but with a set named after them, and a bonus for casting them, Wizards is sure to put in some stuff to let us, y'know, actually cast them. They've invested a set; they want people to play them.

6/6 flying,lifelink, vigilance, prot from 2 colors
Kozilek: 8 mana w/ a nonmana land out
12/12 annihilator 4, draw 4 cards, no protections.
Something tells me that this guy won't be played.
those are two horribly different cards with horribly different situations entirely.
kozilek, unmolested, is more card advantage than cruel ultimatum (hell, even when molested he gets you 4 cards back). sphinx on the other hand is in more akroma-esque territory. kozilek costs a million mana. sphinx costs a million mana of 3 different colors.
they're both unplayable, but kozilek has potential because the eldrazi themes might help him be played. maybe if the format becomes molasses-slow as a result of RoE, kozilek can get there.
I don't know if this has been posted before but, I was noticing the picture on the Compiled Info thread that shows Sorin & Nissa with 3 Eldrazi in the background. The one on the left looks like Kozilek. I'm wondering if there will be at least 2 more Legendary Eldrazi cards to go with the other 2 in the picture.

From all the promo images it looks like there will be 4 unique ones IMO.
Let me pull up the images..
The first picture is clearly Kozilek, however in the second picture, on the far left, some may mistake him for Kozilek but that floating crown plust the row of studs going across the top of his head say otherwise.
Asking out a girl is like trying to cast a first turn Necropotence. Sometimes the other player will have the Force of Will to say no. You shouldn't let that stop you from trying it.

Yeah, the floating crown does make it look like there is another.
I'm not sure that the top one is Kozilek, though. Just looking at his art, (and it might just be the angle) I only see the one "blade" on the left arm. The top art looks more like paddles, and more like additional forearms than the blade (or maybe it's the feeding needle) on Kozilek.
And just from a practical standpoint, why would they have two Kozilek pictures out there? One for a promo? Both of them are shown in Ultra-Pro products and I don't remember seeing promo art used for such things.

But really how much different is that card from this Door to Nothingness.

Also: butcher of truth? drawing 4 cards? huh?
This is dumb.

I'm just hoping they don't put out small Eldrazi cards w/ Annihilator... that would be pretty annoying.
Like a 4 or 5 cost 1/1 or 0/2 or whatever with haste and annihilate 1? probably wouldnt even be that good just annoying
