Even if phyrexians get into their possession, they would still be mirran artifacts.
Unless Phyrexians tainted them(Equipments) with there own technology and preference like living weapon, proliferate, poisoned, infect, 'sacrifice this/a' or anything related to them(Phyrexia)
So the cost of mana cost, cost of equip, conditions, buff(-1/ or +2/) would have been change if it would be Phyrexians.
It won't be the same generic pro sword that we have seen.
RW Sword: Sword of Chaos and Order
*Each player discards his or her hand, then draws three cards (from Chandra Ablaze...Nalaar can only deal damages, too boring...)
*Target creature gains a +1/+1 counter. Untap it. (Ajani 2nd)
If its red would be on another sword the red ability won't be another DAMAGE player related thing like the blu/red sword pro.
if another sword(s) gets printed or not?
I would open possibilities on white for "creature(s) you control" Related stuff, Combat phase advantage abilities, Tap related, Next turn stuff and won't be surprise on another prevent damage or gain life variation.
As for red don't think its another DAMAGE thing could probably an ability with a bad draw back on you(user of the sword).
As for another green possibly land/mana related, buff, counters but not another token ability.
abilities that won't re appear:
Tokens - if remade it would have been germs/cats/spirit or another nuisance creature type.
Damage - i don't think they do it again.
Draw stuff- to much powerfull unless they make a little annoying drawback!
Likely names:
Sword of Peace and War
sword of Tranquility and Anger
Sword of Order and Chaos
I've got my money on the abilities being destroy target artifact (red) and put a +1/+1 counter on creatures you control (white)
This seems like it might be overpowered in block, but outside of SOM the destroy artifact ability won't be that amazing, and the +1/+1 counters are powerful, but this would probably be a tad slow for more ww decks, so it wouldn't be too imba in them.
wasteland (red) and reinforce (white)? This would average about 1-1.5 mana per ability though... That's less than normal. However, I really like the wasteland ability.

It's kind of another moment when we throw our hands up and go "DAMMIT universe, why you gotta always make me look bad in front of everyone?".

SOFI has two mandatory effects. SOLS has one mandatory effect and one optional effect. I don't think we have enough evidence to conclude that the abilities will necessarily be mandatory or optional. It could easily be templated either way.
I'll be surprised if it's anything other than 'destroy an artifact(red)', 'destroy an enchantment(white)'. I could maybe see the white being 'put a counter on your guys', but that is decidedly lacking usefulness for something that happens immediately after combat.
Sword of Order and Chaos
Artifact -- Equipment (M)
Equipped creature gets +2/+2 and has protection from red and from white.
Whenever equipped creature deals combat damage to a player put two 1/1 white Soldier creature tokens onto the battlefield and destroy target land you don't control and target land you do control.
Equip
Or even something like this: Untap equipped creature and you get an additional combat step, and until end of turn whenever a creature attacks it gets +1/+1 until end of turn.
I'd say that it'd have to have more of a drawback for an additional combat phase. Probably more like Breath of fury.
I imagine something like:
Sword of Fury and Fealty3
equipped creature gets +2/+2, Pro Red, Pro White
When equipped creature deals combat damage to a player, sacrifice it. If you do, untap all creatures who attacked this turn, and there is an additional attack phase followed by an additional mainphase.
Oh, and tap target creature.

That text totally would fit on a card...
It would, but would break the cycle significantly. None of the swords have big, swingy effects like an additional combat phase, and especially do not force you to sacrifice the equipped creature. We may one day see a Breath of Fury equipment, but it will not be in the Sword cycle.

I agree with you! They tend to have more subtle effects (minus mill 10... that's pretty big for a sword), It was just a more balanced version (in my opinion) of previous speculation thanks for your insight though!
I doubt it, considering that they stay away from Judeo-Christian mythology (see: Wrath of God being transitioned out).
Also, I'd imagine that Hell would be a lot more black than red, considering how Demons are black and black gets cards like Damnation, Hell's Caretaker, Hellfire, all of the demon-themed pact cards (Demonic Tutor and Attorney, Contract from Below, etc). The Wretched, The Abyss, etc.
Well worth making an account to suggest though.

On MTGO as Protoman.
On 7/14/10, broke 1900 mark! <3 ROE.
I'll be surprised if it's anything other than 'destroy an artifact(red)', 'destroy an enchantment(white)'. I could maybe see the white being 'put a counter on your guys', but that is decidedly lacking usefulness for something that happens immediately after combat.
And they'll be 'may' abilities.
Have almost the same speculation in some earlier threads or probably with You may destroy target aura card and equipment card that player control

Thats to much overkill better than Fire and Ice and i guess they won't do any better than that(See Feast and Famine).
if it would be a combat ability it would be just for a single creature 'not all creatures you control' and i don't think it would modify any phase of the turn that is to much Overkill to be made on future sets unless they change some of the sword pro basic properties(equip, casting, buff, condition and etc).
Wotc learned its lessons from the previous equipments there won't be another sword that would level Fire & Ice and jitte.
phase controlling is to much powerfull. your sword is like an Auto Lock!
Gosh, aura and equipment destruction would be trash...unless your playgroup uses tons of the latter, allows Autumn-Tail, or they decide to make much better auras.
It won't be the same generic pro sword that we have seen.
then it wouldn't be the natural 5th card in the cycle, that'd be fundamentally changing the design of the Swords of X and Y.
the last sword MAY be phyrexian, but there's not proof, some claim that the pros indicate it's phyrexian, but I say, why then would it's ABILITIES be those colors. it's the exact same argument that existed for SoF&F, it had pro GB (mirran) but the abilities are GB which are phyrexian colors. but the sword ended up being mirran.
there's just as much evidence towards a Mirran RW sword as there is for a Phyrexian RW sword. and since all these swords existed on pre-war mirrodin, of which all was Mirran aligned, I'm going to place my money on a Mirran sword.
but regardless, all the people insisting that it MUST be phyrexian need to get your heads out your asses and realize that you are SPECULATING.

Yeah! We are but as of now the hype and excitement for next sword if there is.
With the new equipment in MBS is kinda not interesting the only good there is the mechanics like is Living weapon.
As for the sword pro i won't be surprise if it still follow the cycle in the anyway or in a surprising way but changes some of its properties especially if it becomes on the Phyrexian side.
"And yes, those of you dying for us to finish this cycle during the block will get your wish. You'll see the next one sometime during Mirrodin Besieged previews."
-- Mark Rosewater
It will still follow the color cycle which it does usually but they could always bend somethings on.
See the Sword of Body and Mindablity which is Glimpse the Unthinkable the Early incarnation of the Swords Pro in Mirrodin were based on 1cc spells/instants i hope everyone remember that.
So what i wouldn't be surprised if they change the some properties but still calling it and
named it with Sword of [Insert Text Here] and we would still accept it and based on the old swords.
Wotc likes to bend things especially on equipments to make them slower or less usuable than there previous incarnation to make thing more fair for everyone.
I don't think it would be the generic sword we would use to know if it gets printed whether its gonna be Phyrexian or Mirran there it would still go beyond its generic predecessor
So would expect alot of changes of properties if it goes phyrexia.
The best thing they do now is on timmy stuff and slow johnny ones.
From a flavor perspective, I don't find it very realistic that a sword strike could destroy an entire land, so I'd rule that out.
R will have to be: may* destroy an artifact. It's just too obvious not to do.
*may, so you don't kill your own sword.
The white portion however is a crapshoot. There are at least a half dozen potential triggers which wouldn't surprise me. I would bet against it destroying an enchantment, because it's not very exciting to pair with shatter. That doesn't mean we couldn't see it, though. If I had to guess, I'd say white would be
Recall that every Sword has one effect that is Card Advantage and another that is just flavorful. Also, remember that none of the effects are "may" abilities nor are they ones that could be detrimental through normal means.
Card Advantage: Ice, Shadow, Body, Famine
Flavorful: Fire, Light, Mind, Feast
They have already done Flavorful for both White and Red, but the old White one is just really terrible. I suspect the white one will be this Sword's card advantage effect.
The sword will be called 'Sword of Order and Chaos' same cost and equip as the others. +2 +2 and have when it deals damage to a player exile an artifact from play.
Here's a possible red ability I haven't seen suggested yet-- Misguided Rage. Red hasn't really done any of this lately, but then neither has any other color unless you count Annihilator, so I'm assuming it's still considered a red ability.
For white, the only thing I can think of is putting +1/+1 counters on creatures, but I know it won't do that because SoM block has -1/-1 counters, and WOTC has said they won't use both kinds in one block. Maybe it'll untap creatures, a la To Arms!?
Possible RredR abilities:
1. Destroy target nonbasic land (of player dmged by equipped creature)
2. Destroy target artifact (of player dmged by equipped creature)
3. Deals 3 to target creature
4. Deals 3 to target player
5. Draw two; discard two
Possible WwhiteW abilities:
1. Put two 1/1 soldier tokens into play
2. Destroy target enchantment (of player dmged by equipped creature)
3. Tap target permanent; doesn't untap on player's next untap step (of player dmged by equipped creature)
4. Return target <2cc permanent from your graveyard to play
Possible RredR abilities:
1. Destroy target nonbasic land (of player dmged by equipped creature)
2. Destroy target artifact (of player dmged by equipped creature)
Probably
3. Deals 3 to target creature
4. Deals 3 to target player
5. Draw two; discard two
Almost the same with fire and ice ability 3 damage is very ahead to fire and ice sword (don't think they would do something better than it was! see feast and famine)
Possible WwhiteW abilities:
1. Put two 1/1 soldier tokens into play
Almost same with the recent sword body and mind its tokens. plus i don't think they would do some tribal like creature types if they were i guess it would lesser types like CATS
For soldiers and knight i'm 100% sure that they won't ever ever do that and won't be on this sword. see GERMS(living weapon instead of Spirits(in playtest cards, Fungus or Saproling ) another example CAT and WOLF

Untap all creatures kinda posible since we get like the Bear Umbra in feast of famine.
its kinda balance ability.
Wizards would do it because it looks B.A. and will cause many 8-year-olds to buy many more packs and thus PROFIT.
