Tarmogoyf costs $50, so he has to be played in your tournament deck. Otherwise everyone will laugh at you. You will be brought to the head judge's table where they will publicly humiliate you over the PA. You will have "LOL...WTF!" stamped on your DCI card in big red letters at the door on your way out.
In case you guys are forgetting English, Locus is also an actual word maybe its simply in the card's name and self referring... example...
Locus of Control
3(U)(U)
Enchantment
When Locus of Control enters the battlefield you gain control of a permanent your opponent controls and your opponent takes control target permanent under your control.
Prob not a good card i just made it up on the fly and of course the wording needs work but just saying Locus is an actual word meaning a place or location, doesn't have to be a land could be simply using the English word as a word in title having nothing to do with its type (like the locus of control above)
Edit: my bad i re-read thread more closely and there were a few who shared my idea (such as on first page someone mentioning it being an enchantment) just let this be a more specific example
Actually that would be a very good card, essentially a Confiscate for one mana less (give them the enchantment).
That said, magic is rather deliberately moving in the direction of less confusion, not more. I saw an idea for a card a couple pages back that was something like:
Sunpost
T: add 1.
2, T: add one mana of any color for each locus on the battlefield.
I rather like that idea, and hope it ends up as the final.
Locus Bear 1G
Creature - Bear
Landfall - ~ becomes a Locus Land with "T: Add 1 to your mana pool for each Locus on the battlefield." until end of turn. It's still a creature.
2/2
Gatepost 4
Artifact - Locus T: Add 1to your mana pool for each Locus on the battlefield.
Impossible unless wizards made it an Artifact Land, since as it's been mentioned, Locus is a LAND type, and types don't interchange. Thus we can have Tribal Instant - Elf Trap, but we can't have Creature - Trap or Instant - Elf.

The very fact that so many people keep getting all the type interactions wrong is incredibly strong evidence this will be a land.
Yes, Locus is a real word but since people can't even get easier stuff straight in this thread, it would be monumentally stupid for WotC to use it as anything that doesn't deal with Cloudpost in some way.
I'm sure someone has already mentioned this but considering what Locus do and this set is called Worldwake, I can see this being a manland with p/t equal to the number of locus in play.
Also, if the next set is indeed based on Mirrodin, I wouldn't be surprised to see another Locus in that block.

I believe the templating for that type is .....X/X where X is equal to the number of Loci on the battlefield under your control.
Locus is not the plural of itself, and Loci does not appear in the orb, neither does locuses.
My guess is either landfall ability, or different templating, like the getting +1/+1 for each locus on the battlefield, or a functional reprint, to allow more Cloudpost shennanigans.
The plural of Locus could be confusing, and they could fiddle with the wording.
It could easily just say:
"Locuspost becomes an X/X construct creature until end of turn where X is the number of Locus on the battlefield"
using "Locus" as the plural of "Locus", even though its supposed to be Loci, simply not to confuse players- how many people would realize that? Its not like "Goblins". Remember- the plural of "Merfolk" is apparently "Merfolk", as seen on Lullmage Mentor
It could also be:
"Locuspost becomes an X/X construct creature until end of turn where X is the number of Locus permanents on the battlefield"
using Locus as an adjective.
So my total educated guess would be, as I said before:
Somethingpost
Land - Locus T: Add 1 to your mana pool 1: Something post becomes an X/X construct creature until end of turn, where X is the number of Locus on the battlefield

But the difference is that Merfolk is a plural (technically, uncountable) noun, whereas Locus is not. They use Elves and Wolves, so why not Loci? And if they don't use Loci, you can count on Locus permanents.

Could be Merfolk'll :3
I guess yeah its probably permanents
If I were them, designing this card, I'd both want to avoid using the word "Loci", since it confuses players (Many would not immediately make the connection to "Locus", and you might have players arguing about whether the card works with cloudpost or even at all!), yet I'd probably want to avoid using incorrect english, too.
As far as the wording goes, let's look at Cloudpost for how it would probably be templated. The original Locus referrs to all others by saying "each Locus." This avoids having to make it plural. The same kind of thing would be "each Elf" or "each player." They would probably use this same idea here.
but that could not be templated with "X/X", and making it a 0/0 construct with +1/+1 for each Locus on the battlefield is just ridiculously clunky design. It couldn't be "Becomes a manland with X/X for each Locus on the battlefield" because that just doesn't make sense or mean anything

Right, but you would have to pluralize it to have an ability like "Becomes an X/X golem creature until end of turn where X is the number of Loci in play." Can be averted by saying "0/0 golem creature that gets +1/+1 for each locus in play".
Actually, I kind of like this (Even though it would never get printed):
Golempost
Land - Locus (U) T: Add 1 to your mana pool. 1: Golem post becomes a 0/0 golem creature until end of turn. It's still a land.
Golempost gets +1/+1 for each locus in play.
It's going to have to be something like that though, since locus appears twice...

The third ability on yours above would have to be attached to the second ability. A land cannot get +1/+1 while it is still a land, or the earth goes hurtling into the sun and your brain asplodes.
Golempost
Land - Locus (U) T: Add 1 to your mana pool 1: Golempost becomes a 0/0 golem artifact creature with "Golempost gets +1/+1 for each Locus in play" until end of turn. It's still a land.
Bit clunkier tbh. But then again, it would allow for you to boost it by laying another locus AFTER turning it into a manland. Not that that would ever really matter, but eh...

I'm not 100 percent sold that it must be a land either, and won't be until we have something spoiled, or we find _______post in the orb for some value of that blank. In a land-based set, it'd be nice to see a repeat of that favorite land mechanic, but it's far from the only possibility.
Until we see otherwise, Locus could appear on a Quest or Instant in its English meaning, just as Shrine (Jungle) and Arcane (Arcane Sanctum) both re-used even newer Subtypes without relating back to the Kamigawa meanings of the words.
Locus
Basic Land - Locus (T: Add 1 to your mana pool.)
Oh wait, that could change the functionality of Cloudpost. Well, with no mana burn, I don't ever see a situation where you would ever tap an errata'd Cloudpost for less than it's maximum amount of mana.
EDIT:
Oh snap, also +1 domain with Cloudpost... nvm. Locus can never be a BASIC type. lol.
Why not interesting effects like:
Derpbrain Depths
Land - Locus T: Add 1 to your mana pool. U,T: Look at cards from the top of your library for each Locus you control. G,T: Target creature gets +0/+1 for each Locus you control.
Thats not exactly the same though..
any permanent can have any counter on it, and the effects are only determined whether they are valid when you check them. A status altering effect like +1/+1, well, whether it works or not its just a templating nightmare.
Imagine little kid at the table saying that he doesn't have to animate his manland to block with it because it got +1/+1 already and is thus now a creature, or that its no longer a 0/0 artifact and argh don't look out the window, the sun is getting much larger ;S

It cannot appear on the type of anything that is non-land
Types do not cross over from one card type to another, barring shenanigans like Tribal. You can't have a "Land - Elf", nor can you have "Creature - Forest". (you CAN have a Land Creature - Forest Elf, because then it is two different types one referring to each, and the elf is not a land type). Nor can you have "Creature - Locus", nor can you have "Instant - Locus".
For it to be in the name of a card would just be ridiculously silly because of the confusion it would cause for judges when it came to cloudpost, and they wouldn't intentionally use a unique word like "Locus" out of its context.
The only way you'll see Locus on a non-land is if its the name of a new illustrator, or if they've gone over the moon and printed a "Tribal Land Instant Planeswalker - Beast Locus Trap Jace"!
Thats not exactly the same though..

The same could be said about the kid whose Llanowar Reborn has a +1/+1 counter on it. How is he supposed to know that it can't block even though it gets +1/+1?
In any case, I propose a third option, the Dryad Arbor option:
Golempost
Land Creature - Locus Golem
~ gets +1/+1 for each locus in play. T: Add 1 to your mana pool.
0/0
How sweet would that be with Vesuva and Cloudpost, tearing up the casual tables?
Sure, but Cloudpost is the only Locus in existence, and they dug up the land type arbitrarily. I'm sure at least one person in R&D has tried an 8-post casual deck.
It's probably not too strong. It's just 12-mana per Cloudpost.
