I would presume it'd have a last name attached if it was a Planeswalker's name? I do love the possibility of Niv-Mizzet vs. Nicol Bolas, altho I haven'y finished the Future Sight novel yet, so don't know Nicol's status. It sounds like it'd be a very interesting plane tho, I certainly hope its not a red herring.
Nicol Bolas would absolutely mop the floor with Niv-Mizzet.

Ever if it was his only son:o!?!?!?:o
Yea, I guess I was just suggesting that maybe Nicol Bolas made Tezzeret for Niv-Mizzet. I realy dont think that this happened.
In the novel, the guildpact is altered in the end, so people could interact more with the spirits. Niv-Mizzet is a really powerfull dragon. so maybe he had a mini-planeswlaker spark like, Venser. But unless he was an Uber 'walker, he couldnt make a plane by himself. Nicol Bolas could, and they do share colors...

It does sound kind of like a plane, but it can't be the plane the Jelly block takes place on, because the first set of Jelly block is actually called Shadowmoor, and the first set that features a new plane is always named after that plane. Rock block maybe?
Tempest was the first set to feature Rath, yet didn't bear the name (though I think you're right that Shadowmoor takes place on Lorwyn).
What?! Look at the initial post; he is dead. Deceased. Kaputt. Indefinitely horizontal. In mafia games, you see, people are occasionally "killed off," and when that sad event occurs, he or she is no longer allowed to post, on account of rigor mortis and what-have-you.
'Welcome to Mafia Salvation', it said, 'Population: 3,660.' And someone, they never figured out who, had painted on the sign in red letters: '1,831 to lynch.'
I can't believe it hasn't been mentioned yet that Wizards of the Coast has creative teams and registers trademarks for a lot more than just Magic: the Gathering.
I'm not saying this is definitely not Magic-related, but I'm not sure it is, either.
I'll take Tezzeret, the Planescrawler for $100 Alex.
- Shadowmoor (Jelly) is 95% likely to be the next plane we visit; although, I agree that it will be linked to Lorwyn somehow (either thru a "door," opposite side of Lorwyn, or Lorwyn in the future... all are possible scenarios).
Tezzeret just doesn't sound right as a plane, in my opinion. However, it does sound like the name of a powerful, neo-planeswalker. Just because the first five planescrawler's we've been introduced to have "full names" means nothing. Tezzeret may be all he/she/it goes by (kinda like Madonna, Prince, etc.).

(about the English language) It's kinda like a raft that was cobbled together from parts of three different boats and since then has been kept barely afloat with crude repairs every time a leak appeared.
Tezzeret is probably the planeswalker from Morningtide. But if not, then whatever. This name really reminds me of teferi for some reason. Either way, I would expect we would find out in time. If he is a planeswalker (which I find very likely) I hope he is not multicolored or artifact and that he doesn't suck crap like the rest of the planeswalkers. They really need to take a more innovative esxpert level approach to planeswalkers. They could still save the card type. Still, it's more likely wizards will just fail to make the type successful. Then they will never be able to use planeswalker for another card type again because they wasted on one of the crappiest mechanics ever. The fate of planeswalker = enchant worlds.
Not ALL of us think that the current planeswalkers suck. Most of us realize that while they're new, they have to be simple. They are a new card type, and it will take people some time to get used to them. Also, WotC has a special rule that, when they design multi-set mechanics, the first iterations of the mechanic are the simplest, and the mechanic develops in later sets.
And kindly do not make blanket statements about how much cards suck and how bad Wizards is. Those do not help your arguments.
Hey, is there anyone else on the forums going to Rice University in Houston? We could ALWAYS use more people in our Magic games. PM me if you want to play sometime
Ok, recent sets. Tempest is ten years old this year; planes that have been introduced since are:
- Mercadia in Mercadian Masques
- Mirrodin in Mirrodin
- Kamigawa in Champions of Kamigawa
- Ravnica in Ravnica: City of Guilds
- Lorwyn in Lorwyn
And Time Spiral. And Invasion, Odyssey, Onslaught, and Urza's Saga.
Anyways, I'm going to take a wild guess and say that Tezzeret is the name of the Fall 2008 large set. Do set names get trademarked?

Karma doesn't exist. You can't depend on it. If you count on it for justice or catharsis, you will find that you have placed your emotions on very unstable ground; and you will either repeat your disappointment in society over and over, or you will engage in a persistent delusion to protect yourself from that feeling.
Ok, I think that it is the name of the next block/set after Shadowmoor. Not neccesarely the name of the plane, tho.
Or it could be the name of a new card type introduced in morning tide!
Maybe it is a new creature type that wizards plans on using in every set from noew untill eternity, and thus want to protect it's creative integrety with a trademark.

Purple is finally going to be introduced in Shadowmoor (purple is, after all a gloomy - looking color), and Tezzeret is the purple planeswalker.
Whew - glad we solved that one.

There's one at the door, at the gate to damnation...
Is it thief, thug or whore? There's one at the door...
And there's room for one more till the end of creation. Neil Gaiman, Sandman #4 - A Hope in Hell
I already said that, but noone is paying attention to either of us.
It's possible that the name doesn't have anything to do with Magic, but since this happens to a Magic-related forum, there's a pretty good chance that most of the speculation's going to go that way.
Just sayin'.

It could be argued that Urza's Saga introduced Serra's Domain, but none of those others introduced new planes. They all took place on Dominaria, which is sort of the "generic" Magic plane. Of earlier sets, only Homelands and Arabian Nights took place on different planes (The Homelands/Ulgrotha and Rabiah the Infinite).
Remember that anybody can be a neo-walker. Even a guy with no magic. And size shouldn't matter. There's one that ended planeswalker, even being a 2/2
I'm not saying a 4/4 couldn't have become a 'walker, just that Mizzet was not a 'walker at the Decamillenial of Guildpact and furthermore that anyone who has lived more than ten millenia has almost certainly been exposed to every spark-triggering event that they ever will be.
So: Niv-Mizzet probably didn't become a 'walker after the events of Ravnica: City of Guilds.
And: He certainly wasn't a 'walker before the events of Ravnica: City of Guilds.
Therefore: He's probably not a 'walker now.
Well, afaik (didn't read the whole thing) the official page stated that pretty much anything could spark the ... eh ... spark. Which I take translates as "whoever we want to be a planeswalker is one".
Regardless of how broad the stimuli are, it doesn't change the fact that someone living for that long isn't very likely to just spontaneously come across some completely new experience.
Note of course that I keep saying "probably" or "very unlikely". Sure, it's conceivable that he could have in the same sense that its conceivable I will be struck by lightning today, but it's not very likely. If it were the case, I would consider it an incredibly contrived plot twist.

And why not? Just like Noman said, that is under full control of the sotrywriters. The guy had like 5000 years bored of being the smartest brain in the plane and bored even of managing his guild. I'm guessing the only completely new experience he could have would be precisely sparkin'.
True, but unlikely stuff that happens ins stories is under full control of the writers. Maybe Niv-Mizzet had a trauma/revelation/trance/near-death experience that it no way differs from other traumas/revelations/trances/near-death experiences he had experienced before, and due to the capricious nature of the spark, that's when he got it. Less plausible things happen all the time in fiction.
As an aside, I would hate Niv-Mizzet as a Planeswalker.

I wrote more in my post than you quoted. Like this little gem:

No, we didn't. Purple won't exist and there is no way such a simple name will be given to a planeswalker who came late to the party. I don't see why people still believe there can be a sixth colour. It will not be played in vintage/legacy or extended for a while unless it gets 3 big sets made just for it and they are all fairly close together, and are considered part of another block.
I don't think it will be the name of a planeswalker. Really, a one word name? No last name? Surely they'd be able to think of something for a last name.
And that picture of what looks like a basic-ish logo. Where did that come from?

Not a little Sheeple.
Multicolored (Ravnica) -> Graveyard (Time Spiral [Isn't Tarmy enough to call it a graveyard theme?]) -> Tribal (Lorwyn) -> Artifacts (Tezzeret?) -> Crap (aww...)
Tempest was the first set to feature Rath, yet didn't bear the name (though I think you're right that Shadowmoor takes place on Lorwyn).
Not with Rosewater in charge. Current color pie has Lamanites firmly in R/G with Nephites as W/B, easy.
The problem is that I can't imagine a single thing that could possibly be blue in this theme.

About Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx:
Remember that anybody can be a neo-walker. Even a guy with no magic. And size shouldn't matter. There's one that ended planeswalker, even being a 2/2
Not quite; you still need the spark to become a planeswalker, but you have less power than the godlike Dominarian walkers (Teferi, Urza, etc.).
Maybe Tezzeret has something to do with those evil thingies that control the Lorwyn elves that I vaguely remember hearing about.
It's more like Multicolored -> Really Strange and Weird -> Tribal -> Overpowered -> Crap.
Then you have a weak connection with Legends > Ice Age > Mirage/Tempest-ish > Urza's > Masques.
Or it could be the name of a new card type introduced in morning tide!
